Is anyone else watching?
I’m finding this episode quite interesting as our weekly budget is very similar to the Ross family, yet I don’t feel like we struggle and can have some treats.
What I would do with £1200 a week though 😂

OP posts:

tonights

rich retired cuple shahid and riffat have dedicated theit lives to helping others, while single mum kelly spends all her attention on her two sons

does this mean the rich couple have no young kids/swap wont be the same

like the last few episodes

jay55 · 31/10/2019 22:03

Two thoroughly lovely families this week.

And both a lot more relatable than usual, older couple where the husband had a well paid job and they made good investments, and single mum who is working hard to provide the basics for her kids in the present climate.

The kids were lovely and seemed very sensible on their shopping trip too.

sniffingthewax · 31/10/2019 23:05

Nice couples but not a fair match again. They must be finding it really hard to find willing families.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2019 13:47

Ok to watch but not a fair match

Tho rich seems to be saying - I had nothing. I worked hard and I got rich

Is t to show the poor family what if .........

dottypotter · 01/11/2019 14:42

will they stop saying work hard and get rich it dosent work like that.

Lots of people work hard on a low wage and dont aspire to a wealthy lifestyle.

IF you live in a mud hut in Africa then the poor family will seem rich to you. If your a billionaire the rich family will seem poor to you. The whole thing is a non entity programme really.

Limer · 01/11/2019 15:03

Yes, nice people but pretty meaningless this week, seeing as the rich couple had been far poorer than the poor family earlier in their lives! It seemed to be more about what the rich couple could do to help the poor family, which admittedly was great, the new freezer, the carpet cleaner and the advice from the established cleaner. And the rich dad regretting not spending time with his children.

And a common occurrence - where's the dad of the poor family?

Did I miss why the old photo of the rich couple had cracked glass in the frame?

purpleme12 · 02/11/2019 22:50

But it's a single mum and the sons lived with the mum so the dad isn't relevant to the programme experience

They were really nice this week. The older lad seemed lovely. And the couple. Well, everyone!

But I don't understand why they've stopped doing it with children

SleepingStandingUp · 05/11/2019 19:32

Omg I'm catching up and I want to kill the stupid Poor Dad.
How can the kids have more sense than the parents?

sniffingthewax · 08/11/2019 09:55

Thought this week was quite boring. Also how did the poor mum only have £300 left, she only went out for a meal and did a pamper session. It didn't even show her buying anything for the children.

I thought it was a nice idea for the rich family to redecorate, but they put their own stamp on it, for all they knew the little boy is terrified of the sea.

Limer · 08/11/2019 14:18

Yes, another unremarkable episode. Once again, advertising the rich dad's get-rich scheme. I think there's probably mileage for a new spin-off programme where the rich family does things like redecorate, source bargain furniture etc. for the poor family. Things that the poor family can't manage because they're struggling, stuck in a can't-see-the-woods-for-the-trees cycle.

But that wasn't a bin, was it? It was an umbrella stand.

sniffingthewax · 08/11/2019 14:41

I was thinking that bin wouldn't hold very much! Whilst sourcing out cheap furniture was a nice idea, the poor mum goes to that car boot sale every week, it isn't as if she wasn't aware that you can get bargain bins/bedside tables for a few quid.
Limer it's only that you've pointed it out that I copped on it was an ad! I did a bit of a google on him and he's trying to peddle that 6 six steps out of debt book, there was a close up on a poster in the program so a not so subtle ad indeed 🤔

dottypotter · 08/11/2019 14:46

how boring again the Rich family doing this to get their name across he even left her a brochure in the boys room.

Think its had its day.

We all just do the best we can for ourselves with the money we have.
The poor family arent even poor if you live in a mud hat in Africa. They have a house, food etc, and of course the kids had mobiles.

Em2122 · 08/11/2019 15:58

The poor family always seem to be average rather than poor this series. In fact most of them live In a bigger house than me and I don’t claim benefits. Also, the rich are not bringing kids with them to show them how lucky they are, but friends or adult children who don’t even live with them. I agree the rich do it just to advertise and the poor do it for £1500 I guess.

Em2122 · 08/11/2019 15:59

And who the hell does their weekly shop in off license?

Herja · 08/11/2019 16:23

I'd be more interested if they used an actually poor family. When I was wee, only 24 years ago the bit I'm referring to, we had no heating, no indoor water, no roof on half the fucking house and were so hungry we were once given a sack of dead squirrels to eat by a farmer across the way because we were literally starving. That skint year after year. That's poor.

Now, I have £800 PM after the house and I am richer than I have ever been in my life. After bills and before food I still have less than the poor family - and that's only because I don't use heating, otherwise it would be less again.

I'd like to see them live even as I did most of this year; under £500 PM for all food, bill's, transport. For everything for me and 2 children. I'd like to see them live my first experience far more...

None of these families are poor. Just poorer than each other.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/11/2019 17:43

Nice families again but yes have more each week disposable income then me and I wouldn’t rate myself poor

Lovely thing to paint and get bedside cupboard

Yes poor mum knew bootfairs etx but didn’t have the extra money to buy anything

purpleme12 · 10/11/2019 22:19

Yes I thought that bin was rubbish for a kitchen! Glad people agree with me now!

Was really surprised still that they'd never been to London when they live so near

almostfreeatlast · 10/11/2019 22:25

I said the exact same thing about the bin. It looked faux leather to me. Hardly ideal kitchen bin material? Envy

The show is pretty pants but I watch it anyway if there’s nothing else on. The ‘poor’ family clearly only participating in the hope of having a mobility scooter, car, house etc purchased for them. It’s embarrassing.
