Is anyone else watching?
I’m finding this episode quite interesting as our weekly budget is very similar to the Ross family, yet I don’t feel like we struggle and can have some treats.
What I would do with £1200 a week though 😂

I don't really understand how £180 after bills and rent constitutes as a poor family that's £720 a month I'd love to have that spare I'm lucky if I have that spare in 3 or 4 months ! I think they forget to explain there must be some kind of benefits thrown in if they only work part time to have that much spare cash a week !

readyforchangenow · 13/10/2019 08:52

I thought the same @unicornsandmermaids £180 a week for food and everything else is not 'poor' especially when they only work part time each! Don't think that's bad at all really.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2019 13:49

Yes poor mum works part time in community centre

I’ve always said the poor family have more disposable income then me

I don’t have £180 a week spare

But I have a good life Work. Holiday. Meals out etc

To me having say £60 a week left which shopping £50 comes out is poor

£450 on one weeks shop wow

Biker47 · 13/10/2019 14:55

I know in the past the rich family have been on the programme for publicity more than any other altruistic or thought provoking reasons, but can't help think this season has been a bit more on the nose about it so far, first episode is free easy marketing for a diet plan, and second episode advertising for a holiday let.

purpleme12 · 13/10/2019 21:22

I couldn't understand moving out for the night either. At first when they said it was a holiday let I thought they must do a room as a holiday let while they lived there but no that wasn't it. I'd find it annoying moving out for a night regularly.

But how cool would it be to have a swimming pool!

cardamoncoffee · 13/10/2019 22:03

I think what @Biker47 said about it being an advert makes sense. I highly doubt they rent the whole house out for a night at a time, it would be so disruptive to the family. Quite annoying in that case that they are using the program to self serve.

fuzzymoon · 13/10/2019 22:08

I Think they don't live in the mansion it's just for rental and their home is the cottage. Their son probably doesn't live with them anymore either. Just brought in to balance it.

purpleme12 · 13/10/2019 22:23

I think it was very odd that that family was picked to be honest with an adult son. The whole point is that the families have youngish children at least

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2019 08:46

Yes I thought weird to have older son

Esp as didn’t live with them anyway

I much prefer say 3 kids in a 2 bed house v 3 kids in 4 bedroom
House

So the rich family kids have to share

Limer · 15/10/2019 16:53

This week's episode was rubbish, the poor mum said a couple of times that the only reason she decided to go ahead with doing the programme was to get introductions to tattooists/artists for the poor dad. And they weren't even poor!

The rich family didn't even have any children, they had to draft in the twenty-something son! Crazy.

Although I liked the idea of trading of a haircut for the barbecue loan, I've often wondered why nobody else ever tries that (maybe they do but it's not shown?)

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/10/2019 18:19

Be good if the rich family could get the poor dad into tattoo business

Earning nmw is pretty crap

cardamoncoffee · 16/10/2019 19:56

Blonde in the last series there was a rich dad from Bristol who befriended the poor dad and they made a revisted program and he helped him get into university to do physics. There was another dad who was a vet and they built the poor family a playhouse from scrap wood in their garden. They were such a nice family.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/10/2019 20:20

Yes the last series seemed to do stuff for the poorer families

Limer · 16/10/2019 22:54

Not sure if it was the last series, but does anyone remember when a rich family bought a motorised wheelchair for a poor mum who was disabled, it totally changed her life. She was then able to take her children to school and travel around on her own.

cardamoncoffee · 17/10/2019 06:53

Yes Limer that was amazing.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2019 12:23

Yes that was lovely. Less then their weekly budget but changed the disabled mum and family life

Think that was e1 of a series. Then they all seemed to do nice things

Another paid off their loan /shark debt

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2019 21:11

Anyone watching ?

2 bed council v £7million town house in Chelsea

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2019 21:15

Why can’t the poor mum share with her youngest

And let older two share a room. Rather then sleep in living room :(

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2019 21:16

Or bunk beds instead of a double and cot

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/10/2019 21:17

£180 a week is poor though if it includes the food budget.

cardamoncoffee · 17/10/2019 21:18

The amount of clutter in poor house is a fire hazard. I really don't think it's all necessary stuff either.
I'm not warming to the rich mum. She seems a bit try hard dahling.

cardamoncoffee · 17/10/2019 21:20

This series has been a massive let down. The rich mum doesn't even have one child with her.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2019 21:33

Again as someone said seems to be a business advert

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2019 21:34

And yes no young kids in rich

SendARavenToRiverRun · 17/10/2019 21:40

It's just not a fair swap. I really don't like the 'rich house' friends. Not coming across well at all. Now, anyone wanna bung me 400 quid so I can have a vitamin IV in my arm?
Just wow!
