I watched Butterflies quite recently and found it all quite depressing. Ria had a horrible life really. Although a SAHM of teens with a cleaner. Meeting Leonard in the park being the highlight of her day.

I agree sparkling. I think Ria had a miserable life. Her husband and children were so entitled and demanding of he and saw her as a useful drudge. She never did anything for herself except see Leonard.

Sadly, I fear that might have been the case for many SAHM of earlier generations (not with a Leonard necessarily), and possibly more difficult in that transitional period when some women were out working and no-one quite knew what reasonable expectations were.
