E.R. fans, the whole lot on all 4

I love ER and watch it.
For me, it changed when Mark died. By series 13/14, it lost it's way and the characters didn't have the same likeability.

@Cheeeeislifenow we have to pay for no ads and it still plays ads for channel 4 programmes anyway which it shouldn't really if they say no ads.

This has probably been asked before, but are Shep and Raul paramedics or firemen? Just seen the episode where they go into a burning building to save some kids, and I'm sure I've heard them being referred to by the other staff as both paramedics and firemen?! Plus they're always at the ER, and surely they wouldn't be if they were firefighters?

Coincidentally I have just reached this episode, it's sad :(

Also noticed the ambulances have Chicago Fire Dept on them. So they are part of the same department. It seems Shep and Raul are first on scene and just decide to go in even though they aren't kitted out for it.

Ah thank you, I should've noticed that! It is very sad - Raul probably only went in because Shep did, so Shep's probably going to feel bad about that always. At least it wasn't in vain - they did save some children.

I've finished S2 now....my thoughts:
I love Carol.

It was sad to see Shep deteriorate and refuse help (in reality he probably needs several months off work for burnout/stress, I don't know if you'd get this in the US).

I would like Jen (Mark's wife) to go away, she is annoying.

Carter is a jerk too often for me to like him.

I was impressed with Benton's integrity (with the dodgy clinical trial).

I think I'm supposed to hate Kerry but I actually like her, she says many reasonable things.

Well I finished season 9.
It's not the same without the originals and I don't like Luka or Abby at all.
It feels like it was a real ensemble cast in the earlier seasons and now it's a couple of people that the show is focused on with just bits about the others.
I will stick with it though.

curcubita in season 2 it was interesting how everyone had their flaws at one point or another, and did something wrong, some more than others.

I’m coming towards the end of season 8, Mark has just finished his last shift [wibble]. I have noticed though the nurses have so few lines now, where as they were more involved in the earlier seasons.

Gutted that ch4 are removing ER. TONIGHT!

Yes I noticed whilst watching it suddenly said available for 18hrs. Not impressed :( am sure it wasnt there even yesterday!

This has been my saviour during lockdown. Every day I have been watching, not always in order, sometimes my fave episodes again and again

I really liked 'ER', but there was a real ceiling on my enjoyment as I find Julianna Marguiles one of the most unlikeable actresses ever. I wish Carol had taken a few more pills in the pilot. When all those rumours were circulating about JM and Archie Punjabi not getting on on the set of 'TGW' I was very much Team Archie.

I can't really complain because I've bought most the seasons on iTunes but I usually have to download them to watch them so it's been nice being able to see them immediately when I want!

KittyHawke80 That's a shame, I really like JM! Pretty fond of all the original cast although prefer Susan in the later seasons - comes across much friendlier and happier in later seasons!

It's probably completely unreasonable. Just can't get on with her. But she's got pots of money and Emmys up the wazoo, so I doubt she cares 😂

Tbh, I liked the bloke from 'Fame' best. Paul McCrane, I think. Ginger; irascible. His interactions with Lucy were my fave bits.

Sometimes shows disappear and then come back again. Something to do with the licensing. Fingers crossed it'll be back soon as I want to finish my binge watch.

I actually just finished it yesterday. Slightly underwhelmed with the ending and Rachel's age seemed wrong

Struggling with the later series don’t know if it’s the characters the writing or both.

Talking about ages being wrong - Sam is said to have had Alex when she was 15 and he is 10(?) when they are first introduced. How on earth is she supposed to be 25? You could tell me she's 35 and I'd believe you

It’s still there, although I got worried last night when I was watching and suddenly all the episodes popped up with ‘8 hours left’.
They must be doing something but hope it stays.

I'm sure I've seen All4 and maybe UKTV do this before - they say there's so-and-so hours left but the programme doesn't go! Maybe they have to set a time limit when they put programmes on, even if they don't intend to stick to it? V pleased it's still on there though!

Just started season 12. Forgot they got a new Alex. It is young Dexter!
