I'm still angry that Doug & Carol never came back for Mark's funeral

In the storyline it doesn't make sense that they weren't there - but I'm sure I read somewhere that the actors didn't appear in that episode because they didn't want to attract attention away from Mark's funeral, by making a big guest appearance? Whether that was the real reason or not, I still think they really should've been there

mogloveseggs · 15/06/2020 12:56

Yes they should have been there. We could pretend they were always just off camera?

mogloveseggs · 15/06/2020 20:55

Yikes series 8 episode 8!
Kerrie was very brave doing a c section in a crashed ambulance Shock

Sojo88 · 18/06/2020 17:58

This has probably been asked before, but are Shep and Raul paramedics or firemen? Just seen the episode where they go into a burning building to save some kids, and I'm sure I've heard them being referred to by the other staff as both paramedics and firemen?! Plus they're always at the ER, and surely they wouldn't be if they were firefighters?

curcurbita · 18/06/2020 19:07

I think in the US there is more overlap between the ambulance and fire services?? Or at least that's how I've always understood it.

I'm glad there are other people who are still watching this show even though it finished over a decade ago. I feel like I'm reliving my teenage obsession (probably because Covid has messed with my head).

mogloveseggs · 18/06/2020 19:19

Thats how I understand it too curcurbita
And yes! It's lovely to escape to better times in my memories. I've been watching peak practice too slightly less dramatic

mogloveseggs · 18/06/2020 19:19

I'm coming to the end of season 8.......

Ah ok thanks Smile wondered if it was something like that - probably quite useful if the ambulance and fire services can help each other out!

I've been on-and-off watching ER for months now - especially now they're so easy to access on All4. Keep dipping back into different seasons! Love it.

curcurbita · 18/06/2020 22:11

I'm coming to the end of season 8.......
You are making rapid progress!

Season 8 was when I think I started watching it when it was first on (too young beforehand), I remember Abby getting beaten up and Mark dying. I have started from the very beginning and only on S2 so far... interesting to watch it all, esp as I work in a hospital now... I keep getting twitchy about the curtains not being round the beds (though obviously that's because it's a TV show and they'd get in the way of the cameras!).

MrsJamin · 19/06/2020 07:37

Yeah I always wondered why the curtains were never drawn and sometimes some very private things were discussed and shown to everyone in the er! I'd recommend paying for all4, there are so many adverts to endure otherwise. You still get adverts for other programmes on all 4 but it takes a lot less time to get through them. I think it's only 3.99 a month.

mogloveseggs · 19/06/2020 11:54

curcurbita yes I'm galloping through! Blush
Tried to pay for all 4 + and it doesn't like my card Angry

mogloveseggs · 19/06/2020 14:18

Sorted it! Now have 2 weeks to watch 6 seasons then I don't have to pay the £3.99

MrsJamin · 19/06/2020 16:32

Wow 6 seasons in 2 weeks?! At our best rate we did a season a week, averaging 3 episodes a day, sometimes did 5 but not sure I could do any more!

mogloveseggs · 19/06/2020 18:49

Yeah I think I've bitten off more than I can chew Grin

mogloveseggs · 19/06/2020 18:50

And I really don't like Abby and carter together! At least by season 11 there will be lots I haven't watched Grin

endofthelinefinally · 19/06/2020 18:54

I am almost at the end. It has been brilliant. I am going to start on St Elsewhere's next.

Sojo88 · 19/06/2020 18:58

I keep meaning to rewatch St Elsewhere - been through it once before and really enjoyed it

mogloveseggs · 19/06/2020 19:01

Never heard of that? What is it about?

Sojo88 · 19/06/2020 19:05

It's another hospital drama on All4 but it's set in the 80s

Sojo88 · 19/06/2020 19:05

Oh - I should say and filmed in the 80s, not just set!

mogloveseggs · 19/06/2020 19:34

Ooh interesting thanks!

Sojo88 · 19/06/2020 20:14

No probs - there's a lot of episodes but it's a good show Smile

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 19/06/2020 21:33

I was getting in 3/4 episodes a day... I have a new born baby it was good entertainment. Now I’m getting 1 episode every few days as he’s awake much more!

Cheeeeislifenow · 20/06/2020 11:53

I'm in ROI, it's funny how people in the UK have no ads, we pay 160 per year TV licence fee and still RTE have loads of ads. Virgin media is not payed for by licence fee, on their o player it averages 13 ads and on their channel I counted 12 ads before. It's do annoying.
