The more a post goes on about 'nasty bullies' and 'mean girls' etc, the more unpleasant the actual poster themselves comes across

I haven’t read the full thread but IMO many posters who call out bullying are made by people who have been on the receiving side of bullying. They can recognise the behaviour unfortunately. As someone who was badly bullied in an office environment, I can see many of the same traits in some of the contestants. Whoever has never been on the wrong side of such behaviour is very lucky.

ReeReeR · 25/07/2019 09:36

I saw Amy on Loose Women. I commented about it last night. I can’t really warm to her tbh.

jpclarke · 25/07/2019 09:39

I think it would be interesting to see how the contestants in the villa would react to the public deciding the recouplings!!

butmaybe · 25/07/2019 09:40

I'm really sorry you've been bullied but I would disagree with you here I think. Many people have been bullied, some get more empathetic & kinder. Some go on to bully themselves- it in no way guarantees you won't. What I'm referring to here is the glee and certainty with which some people stick the boot in. It seems like entertainment for them & I wonder what they're like to/about people in real life.

kenandbarbie · 25/07/2019 09:41

I thought she was good on loose women, much more likeable than on love island. Janet street porter was a bit of a knob to her though.

I haven't watched last nights yet. Going to fire it up and get going now!!! Gutted about Chris though.

AuntieStella · 25/07/2019 09:47

I started watching part way through, and have never taken to Maura. So she must have done something spectacularly good in earlier days to make up for totally waspishness since. I don't think that being unafraid of the word 'vagina' makes up for that.

I think she's really gone off Curtis, and there is (according to teen DD) quite a sense that the wrong second choice was make last night, and lots of calls for some sort of backsies. (Insta opinion, she says, was strongly in favour of Ovie Chris and Greg and 'meh' about everyone else)

SnotandBothered · 25/07/2019 09:56

I couldn't post last night as I was feeling too bereft at the loss of Chris.

He is my favourite LI contestant ever. The producers definitely need to rethink the format - imagine if we could vote to couple people up - so we could keep Ovie/Chris/Greg/Maura/Whoever and match them with nicer people if necessary.

Also. I don't mind Tommy and MM. They peaked too soon but I don't think there is any malice there actually and I don't get the MM hate.

BringMeTea · 25/07/2019 10:06

@butmaybe I agree. Glad to see the 'cunt' comment has been deleted.

Sad to see Chris go but he and Harley were never going anywhere. I imagine he got a taxi for one after the farewell comments filming.

Anna had a very poor 'arguing' style but I applaud the way she went out in blaze of self-righteous glory and dimmed Jordan's low wattage bulb.

Glitterfisher · 25/07/2019 10:08

I get that Curtis gave crap advice but it is Jordan that is out of order completely. I think Anna is a really horrible person, she never listens to anyone and thinks she is better than them all. I suspect the reason the girls are so close to her is that they have no real choice as are there day in day out together and just nothing has come up to make them fall out. Look how she was towards India, she is a really nasty person.

ReeReeR · 25/07/2019 10:10

I think Janet Street Porter is like that though and they do discuss things and challenge views. If she wants to be a loose woman then she needs to be able to deal with that but they were obviously easy on her really. I think she speaks well but she comes across as being quite naive and silly.

AuntieStella · 25/07/2019 10:13

And on the girls, according to DD, is are generally for Belle with Harley growing on people. Amber and Maura both marmite. MM and India both 'meh'

Anna was very much disliked

ThomasFurious · 25/07/2019 10:27

@AuntieStella can you pls explain what you meant by the backsies comment?

kenandbarbie · 25/07/2019 10:27

I'm just catching up last night. Tommy is a legend telling Curtis and Jordan how it is.

Yeah that's true, Amy needs to be able to come up with arguments against Janet.

AuntieStella · 25/07/2019 10:35

They want to go back and change the outcome of the second eviction last night.

Various ideas around, of which the least impossible seem to be:

  • having another vote because the vociferous dislike the outcome, and think it wouid have been different if more of what was shown yesterday had been broadcast before voting
  • just bringing Chris and Harley back
  • swopping Curtis for Chris (on assumption that Maura's stony face around him means she won't mind, and she and Chris could stand a chance as a friendship couple)
kenandbarbie · 25/07/2019 10:40

Greg is such a good dad Grin

LonelyTiredandLow · 25/07/2019 10:40

Just catching up.

Things that are dawning for me is how some men (usually ones who say they are attracted to "firey" girls) pick women who act badly when cornered then use it as an excuse to dump them. We've seen that with both Michael and Jordan; they picked two stunning women and then used their tempers against them - they both have the same technique; do something shit, sit in front of girl with a giant grin and repeat "I only followed my emotions" or similar as an 'excuse', finally go around telling everyone the girl has embarrassed herself by getting "mad".

We need men to wise up to this behaviour in other men and call them out on it.

Bellendejour · 25/07/2019 10:41

Maura is marmite, so you’ll either like her or you won’t, I don’t think watching her from the start would necc make a massive difference, but she did bring much needed drama and entertainment. I like her, and although I think she has been selfish and hypocritical at points, I think on the whole she is a good egg. Amy on the other hand I find quite unpleasant and however it’s been spun since she left the house, I don’t think the bitchy/catty/jealous/petty/deluded behaviour we saw was down to harsh editing or she has changed in any real way.

Belle has grown on me definitely, and Amber as I think she handled the whole Michael situation well and seems to have learned how to manage things more maturely.

Finalwise, assuming Maur-tis are no more which seems likely, I like Ovie and Amber but not fussed about the couples to win simply because they’ve only just got to the villa. I don’t really mind between MM/Tommy and Anton/Belle they both have pluses and minuses. Overall I’m a bit meh.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 25/07/2019 10:42

Ovie was brilliant with the baby,I think India spoke for every straight woman when she said get rid of the baby its making me want a real one.(swoon)

LonelyTiredandLow · 25/07/2019 10:43

Oh and Curtis' mask massively slipped this week. He gave Jordan the advice he himself took with Amy. I don't see why the guys in there can't see it? He doesn't consider cracking on with a new girl behind his gf's back 'cheating' and he thinks as long as his own 'emotions' are being 'followed' then all is fine. It's just excusing thinking with your dick.

Sandybval · 25/07/2019 10:50

Im not sure why Maura was so surprised when Curtis treated Amy like crap, women who think these men will treat them better usually end up disappointed.

SlipperOrchid · 25/07/2019 10:51

I don’t think it matters what order they leave at this stage tbh. They all have to go and Tommy and Molly Mae have been the obvious winners for a long time.

AuntieStella · 25/07/2019 11:10

You're right SlipperOrchid but there are some people who are more entertaining to watch than others.

I'd rather watch Chris having a tease than Curtis boring on. So much of the guff about feelings has even repetitive and boring. But at least the cliche count has gone down a bit since Chris remarked on it. Dreading that like creeping up like again like

Bellendejour · 25/07/2019 11:13

I think Maura was just like a heat seeking missile when Curtis became single, at that point there was Marvin and no one else really! I also think Curtis spun it quite well, suggesting he wanted to be respectful of Amy etc while she was there, and then Francesca came in and liked him too, so that gave him ‘value’. But with the Jordan/India sitch and what Anna said, hopefully the scales are starting to fall from Maura’s eyes... hopefully

LonelyTiredandLow · 25/07/2019 11:13

@sandybval exactly - Curtis did that right in front of her too - not like on the outside where the guy can spin the whole "oh she was mental" line Hmm

Sad to see Chris go and hope Harlee is OK on the outside after all the press. Think Anna will re watch and learn to grow up with her arguing style. It's fear of loosing track that makes her repeat the same solid line in an argument, but she would be much better off saying it once then leaving Jordan to spout his mouth and explain his shitty reasons.

LonelyTiredandLow · 25/07/2019 11:19

I think as well that Maura is seeing that Curtis has to be involved in every drama. "Why does he always have to be the one to give advice?" exactly. He's got a game plan and is selfish. She's seeing it and I think Anna did her a huge favour saying it will all come out in the end. We can see it out here and the sooner Maura considers it the less she will be shocked if he does the same to her. However, they only have a tiny bit left so she might just hold out. I really like Amber and Greg - she is blossoming. Tommy and MM will win though I think (plus am very glad Ellie Belly got that steam clean!).
