I feel like something is wrong with me. I find Chris funny, but he certainly wouldn't laugh me in to bed.

Im hoping Amber wont pick Michael obviously, but she keeps banging on about "i know that boy so well"

Clearly didn't ffs.

Bandara - stop it. I live safely in Ireland. I think you're implying Greg is a rapist because of your supposed experience? But I'm not interested, just pack it in.

Louise0701 · 19/07/2019 13:55

Can we keep this thread about love island please

InsertFunnyUsername · 19/07/2019 13:57

Racism, Misogyny, gaslighting, abuse, dangerous women and now rape.

MN Love island threads are weird.

Sagradafamiliar · 19/07/2019 13:58

Bandara I see what you're saying but on an anecdotal level I could say the same about Britain. Rape culture is problematic and there's no denying historically, Ireland has a shameful past in its treatment of women. We can't generalise on an individual level though.
The worst behaved man (to have shown his colours anyway) in there is British.

Fimat · 19/07/2019 13:58

Oh my god Bandara, where the hell didnyiunlive in Ireland. I'm Irish and thankfully don't know anyone who's been raped. Of course there are problems in Ireland for women but know more then in any other western countries. Does Maura look like a down trodden woman? Greg is very typical of a nice, well educated Irish guy. Good craic but very decent. That's luckily my experience of Irish men and I've travelled plenty in my life and come across plenty of different nationalities. I'm a but shocked at the picture of ireland you're painting.

SammyElla · 19/07/2019 13:58

I don't mind Francesca from what I have seen she is quite bubbly and funny and a good match for Chris maybe but that seem to be just good mates. Like Amber and Ovie. If Harley was one of my friends I would tell her she has taken the fillers to far ... or whatever it is

historysock · 19/07/2019 14:00

I would pick Greg were it I choosing. But that's only with the benefit of being nearly 18 years older than Amber, and being able to see through Michael to how potentially horrible he is.

Fimat · 19/07/2019 14:00

Sorry for all the typos. Just a bit taken aback. Sorry back to love island. Watched the first look too and so think Ambers going to pick Michael. God, he's so manipulative.

carmenbea · 19/07/2019 14:01

Not sure I see Gerald Butler and Greg comparison tbh!! Greg isn't my type looks-wise but he seems really lovely and genuine.

The conversation here seems to have escalated quickly again...

butmaybe · 19/07/2019 14:04

For Amber's sake, picking Greg would be so much better but I think her age and her genuine feelings will steer her towards Michael, backed up this idea that her friends are pushing of this fated love, that's finally going to overcome the odds and is meant to be.
I'm glad Belle and Anton are telling her, I wish the others would too.

MynameisJune · 19/07/2019 14:05

Someone is a rapist because they are Irish? What a load of fucking bullshit. Bandara you obviously have huge issues around men but you can’t tar every man with the same brush, especially based on their country of origin ffs

SammyElla · 19/07/2019 14:05

I don't think you can say - I would be wary of Greg because he is Irish and Irish men are more abusive and likely to rape women- that is the most controversial and ignorant thing I have read on this thread and honestly there has been a lot of strange stuff said

AuntieStella · 19/07/2019 14:06

As I said on previous thread, DD thinks Amber will choose Greg (based on micro-expressions on the clip yesterday, Amber must have said something in the preamble that meant he knew it was him)

That means it could be Harley (or is it really Harlee?) and Michael having to couple up as last to pick and remaining unchosen. Depending in what order the producers put the girls.

Ovie looked cool and aloof when he was indeed somewhat uninterested in everyone. Now that he fancies someone, he's going to come across differently (looking a bit territorial on one clip, and that might not come over well n fuller form) and all that business with Michael.

butmaybe · 19/07/2019 14:07

Bandara's statements are disgusting, and her experience, or Ireland's history can't be generalised to Greg. Obviously there are issues, she has completely exaggerated them, but I think she's doing it for attention. I've reported it as I think it needs deleting.

LonelyTiredandLow · 19/07/2019 14:07

Yes I think Michael has manipulated the men into feeling sorry for him (see the physical lying on any surface like a hurt puppy yesterday) as well as sounding people out by 'asking for advice' and telling them how down-trodden he supposedly was in his last 'firey' relationship. I really hope it is his ex that comes in to tell us her side. Him and Curtis seem to be the only ones who have really spoken about exes so far. Poor Amber if she chooses him.

Funghi · 19/07/2019 14:08

Greg will have told her the reception Michael has received from the public, compared to how well liked she is. She’s not daft, she knows if she goes with Michael there is zero chance of winning.

FreshAprilStart · 19/07/2019 14:09

Bandara has made some wild observations throughout these threads, but the latest one is a whole new level.

BenWillbondsPants · 19/07/2019 14:11

@Bandara surely you can only talk of the area in Ireland that you lived rather than brand the whole country the same way? Saying every single girl that you know there has been raped is a pretty big statement. Where in Ireland did you live?

Really hope that Amber chooses Greg but I'm certain that she'll choose Michael in a 'we're meant to be' way. I'll really be sorry if she does, I hope she's stronger than that but I fear not.

LonelyTiredandLow · 19/07/2019 14:11

Funghi I thought he alluded to it by saying he had seen how she had been treated, but actually I worry he thinks by telling her he would look like he is playing a game...so I think he has been too cautious about it all. I worry that Amber said she could see who had her back when the girls went over to talk to Michael after the 'sit' comment and so now will trust Ovie more.

Do we know what was wrong with Anton?

Funghi · 19/07/2019 14:13

I don’t understand why posters are entertaining anything Bandara has to say.

There are several posters on these threads I just scroll on trough whenever I see their name, it’s the only way to make it bearable and actually focussed on LI.

There really should be a mute button.

butmaybe · 19/07/2019 14:15

Yes, Ovie has looked after her before and I think he is looking out for her in his way, but he seems to genuinely like Michael and isn't objective enough.

Ovie has been wise in the past, but now I wish he hadn't handled the Michael apologising situation so well and so discreetly, as it repaired Michael's reputation with Amber and smoothed the way for him to do this 'favour' and decide to get back with her!

LonelyTiredandLow · 19/07/2019 14:20

Yes weirdly the same poster who couldn't see any of the red flags for Michael now seems to be overly protective of women Hmm Ho-hum!

Ovie thinks he is doing the right thing but yes, he's put his male friend over his female one here I think. She needed his advice but I think he feels they should give it another shot for him not her and hasn't processed the reasons behind that fully.

I wonder who Francesca will pick? And Harlee...looks like neither picked Greg which seems odd and staged

bringbacksideburns · 19/07/2019 14:21

Can we take the Ireland discussion elsewhere?

Amber seems very young compared to when she first marched in all guarded and feisty. He has really got under her skin and she will be badly hurt. Hope she makes the right choice.

If I was twenty years younger Chris is the person who would make me laugh. I can see him having deep random conversations into the night.

Really really wish they'd chuck someone's ex in like they did last year but it's too late now.
