What happened in first look? I can't watch it coz in Ireland.

RozHuntleysStump · 17/06/2019 17:42

I don’t usually watch first look but just did. Omg Maura 😂😂😂 she is just brilliant.

boooey · 17/06/2019 17:45

I’d still like to know what Lucie and Tommy were whispering about out of pure curiosity!

jpclarke · 17/06/2019 18:04

It will be interesting to see what happens tonight, and what will they make the couple do who will get to stay on the show? And how will that change dynamics for them with the others on the show.

Shequakes · 17/06/2019 18:12

Maura said she was thirsty....as though we didnt know.

New boys shown walking in. The one that Maura likes (Tom) is asked by the group who he like and says Maura and elma.

Cut to the girls getting ready. The are talking and elma admits she likes Anton but also likes Tom and would like to get to know him and keep her options open.

Cut to Maura having a raging fit because Elma wants to get to know a guy who is currently single and not coupled up with anyone.

Shequakes · 17/06/2019 18:13

Oh and a little bit of the couples conferring about who are the least compatible couples.

Shequakes · 17/06/2019 18:18

This is Mauras expression in response.

I kind of feel bad for her and find the situation funny all at once

I reckon the producers tell them who to pitch as least compatible.
I think nothing much is their own opinion.

AliasGrape · 17/06/2019 18:23

I think we’re way over complicating the Lucie and Tommy thing, she blatantly fancies him. That’s not saying men and women can’t be friends - I have purely platonic male friends and two of DP’s best friends are women - but these two aren’t it. Tommy spent several episodes banging on about fancying Lucie and picked her when he had the chance, it’s just she then picked Joe again.

To say that last night’s events weren’t flirting is madness! Lying right next to him and whispering in his ear when sat in a group, playing silly food fights and giggling etc - that’s flirting! And MM did notice and pulled a ‘what the fuck?’

If DP’s female friend said openly to him ‘hey Bob I bet I could eat more chilli sauce than you’ and they had a little challenge to see, inviting everyone in the group to either join in or judge or whatever then I’d think ‘they’re a pair or weirdos but no harm no foul’. If she rolled to lie alongside him and whisper to him, then took him off away from the group to go and have their little chilli/feeding each other/ egg and spoon race fun excluding everyone else and making a big show of what fun they were having JUST THEM I’d absolutely think they were flirting and be pissed off.

Lucie also DID go primarily for Amy during the food fight and did talk and laugh about it afterwards that she was doing it because of what has happened the day before. So that’s not her not understanding that Amy hadn’t let things drop, that’s HER carrying it on. As far as we saw Amy had dropped it until then (I’m not saying she definitely had but we didn’t see her bring anything up about Lucie until that point).

Lucie has also said outright she’s never had a female friend and that she doesn’t want to sit with the girls because they’re ‘girly girls’ who ‘don’t get her’. Which to me does give the impression that she thinks there’s something special about her that mere ‘girly girls’ couldn’t possibly understand.

I’m not saying that Amy hasn’t been ridiculous and unkind, or that Joe isn’t a dick - but i also don’t buy that Lucie is this simple, unaffected and innocent flower who doesn’t understand how the game works or can’t pick up on social cues.

I actually think Joe’s major issue isn’t even jealousy- I think he’s completely obsessed with appearances and only wants Lucie as him having the ‘prettiest’ girl in there as he sees it, the one all the guys were fighting over to start with, he thinks that makes him look like the big man. He keeps saying ‘I want a happy villa’ and that Lucie shouldn’t cry because she’s too pretty - I think he’s pissed off with her because she’s NOT playing the game with the girls, not being the pretty, popular one that everyone loves and therefore not reflecting the glory onto him that he thinks he’s due. He wanted to act the cheeky chappy sandwich boy that everyone took to their hearts and wanted her to be the golden girl that made him look even better, and the two of them coast to the final. Instead he’s already let the mask slip and shown his angry/jealous side and now she’s not playing along with the pretty sunshine and rainbows act, and he’s getting more and more pissed off.

Roselinemac · 17/06/2019 18:30

So if Lucie & Joe are the couple to be voted the least compatible then does that go to the public vote to choose between either of them? If so my guessing is the producers may have planned this as they know they would get the most votes and then Joe will go so Lucie is no longer controlled by him and can enjoy the rest of the time in the villa. I think she would rather be with Tommy but Joe is stopping this. If Joe goes then we will definitely see a happier Lucie. Just need to get Amy out as well.

itswinetime · 17/06/2019 18:35

It's the bottoms 2 couples even if everyone votes for joe and Lucie joe and Lucie still get a vote so the 2 couples with the most votes will either be voted out as a couple or 1 girl 1 boy from the 4.

SlipperOrchid · 17/06/2019 18:44

This ^^

Maura by rights should be gone. There was no way the producers were going to allow the one person who creates entertainment to go. Whatever happened with the rest coupling last night, they were going to manipulate it to keep her in. Thank goodness!

RedAntsBiteHard · 17/06/2019 18:45

I'm not buying the whole poor Lucie act. Did I read somewhere that Lucie was offered a place in the villa last year but turned it down to come in this year, dropped from a size 12 to size 8, had a boob job etc... thats a calculated girl not a 'quick to hyperventilate cry' poor Lucie to me...

Summersunshine2 · 17/06/2019 18:47

Sorry I know I'm a bit late to the thread but poor Lucie. Her face and forced smiles when Joe chose her was so uncomfortable to watch.
I wonder if they get much interaction with the people who work on the show. I hope so for her sake.

spellingtest · 17/06/2019 18:53

I know it's been said by some but I think the girls are great TV. I adore Lucie and wish she could have half an hour with her mum (or Dad) for a cuddle and some straight talking by people that have her best interests at heart.

Joe is toxic and dangerous for someone sensitive like Lucie. I hope Joe goes and Lucie stays. She needs someone who doesn't patronise and control her. That could make things interesting.

I really like Amber and Michael and can see them lasting the whole series. Actually I could see them winning it. Not so sure they will last IRL though.

Moura (sp) is TV gold.

Anna and Yeowanda are very two faced

MM is lovely and beautiful (although I can't stand that black swimsuit she wears, does her lovely figure no favours) but I don't think she and Tommy are suited in the slightest.

I like most of the boys, as they said when they went out to the spa, they were like a big boy band. There seems to be no bitchiness with them though and the girls could learn a lot from them.

Love Island is so addictive.

kenandbarbie · 17/06/2019 18:54

Thanks! Can't wait to see it tonight!!!

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 17/06/2019 18:59

I'm not buying poor Lucie either and completely agree with @AliasGrape

Bluntness100 · 17/06/2019 19:03

Blimey, over eight hundred complaints about rhe show to ofcom. About Maura trying to kiss tommy and Amy's bullying of lucie 😱

Yamayo · 17/06/2019 19:07

Right now I can't see any of the current couples making it in the outside world.

Fairylea · 17/06/2019 19:08

My dh - who never watches love island - is livid about the sexism he reckons there is about the whole Tommy / Maura thing. He thinks if a bloke tried to kiss a woman the way Maura did everyone would be screaming harassment.... He’s probably right.

unique1986 · 17/06/2019 19:10

Loads of the guys have been really forward and tactile before.
Maura just wanted a kiss no big deal.
Tommy did give her the flirty eyes.

NewarkShark · 17/06/2019 19:15

I buy poor little Lucie more than I buy nice guy Curtis. I’m not saying he’s horrible or anything but I think he is very much portraying himself in a very knowing way, conscious of what will look good.

I missed a couple of episodes but... I also don’t mind Joe

ducks and runs away from thread

BringMeTea · 17/06/2019 19:16

While I totally think Maura is out of order for attempting to kiss Tommy it is NOT exactly the same as a man doing it to a woman. There are vanishingly few men who would feel physically threatened by an unarmed woman. All women (with I suppose a very few excpetions) can be physically overpowered by a man. The threat to a woman is much much greater in such a situation. Let's not forget that.

fancynancyclancy · 17/06/2019 19:17

AliasGrape You’re clearly watching the same show as me! 🤣

Bluntness100 · 17/06/2019 19:19

It's not about feeling threatened. It's about the discomfort and putting someone in that position. She straddled tommy and tried to kiss him after he said no. Someone doesn't have to feel physically threatened for it to be wrong. It is wrong to attempt to force yourself on someone, irrelevant of gender and irrelevant if they feel physically threatened or not.

So it is the same. Man or woman. She forced him into that position on television. Even in private it wouldn't be ok.

No means no, irrelevant of who is saying it.
