Maybe the older people commenting just don't understand about plastic surgery. Or maybe them old folks don't really care ...

Maths lesson over but really are people that out of touch that they don't know these things??! Again, maybe they don't really care and would like to just talk about LI rather than obsess over how the girls look and what surgery they may or may not have had. It becomes a little boring.

Anyway, getting back to the programme itself, anyone else think that Curtis and Amy's days as a couple are numbered?

Not sure if this has already been discussed but should Maura be kicked out for kissing Tommy when he didn’t want her to?

I’m nearly 40 does that make me one of the older ones? Couldn’t give a flying fig if someone’s nose is god given or surgeon made or if they’re full of filler or not. Not remotely bothered by any of that.

Just interested in the gossip and the interactions!

Well yes, now I'm out of the woods (school/uni), all the women I've met through work and various groups are lovely. I think the ones I met at uni were basically Amys - very needy, always wanted "girly" chats/drama, took it personally if you wanted time to yourself. Hell they even had a problem with me wanting to spend NYE with my family instead of them! Lucie's situation strikes such a chord with me because I have been there, done that, heard the "we just want to spend time with you" spiel, had the breakdown, bought the T-shirt.

@Fairylea, yes I'll join you. Perhaps we could go shopping for a twin set and pearls and one of those tartan trolley things with wheels. I don't want to be too late though, hot cocoa and in bed by 8pm.

It can depend on age and your life experiences though. At lucies age, I would have felt the same. But as I got older and worked in a more female dominated office. You do realise that is actually about some people being dicks. Some people not being dicks. Rather than sex.

But it horrible when people trot out the term 'cool' girl/wife etc up until about 22/23 my experiences of girls and women werent great as I posted before.

So I totally get why Lucie feels that way and that doesnt mean it must be her fault.

Me and Dp discussed this today. We are both pretty sure, that wouldnt have been ok if a man did it. And would result in at least a warning, if not being booted immediately.

Yes. Amy isnt the nice girl she makes out. I think its blindingly obvious why she hasnt had a long term relationship before. I think the more this happens, the more Curtis will look elsewhere.

But then, I think he wants to win. So will he keep just playing the game while they are in there.

I dont give them more than 8 weeks on the outside.

I don't like what Maura did but I actually think it's not the same as if a man did it to her.

I think Curtis is fed up with Amy now but I can’t see anyone else in there he’d be a good match for!

Amber and Lucie are both beautiful and I don’t think they have had any surgery.

To clarify, I wasn’t saying anyone on the show (or this thread) is trying to be a ‘cool girl’. Just saying that it’s a narrative that exists and we can all be influenced by, I think I was at Lucie and co’s age. If Lucie genuinely doesn’t want to be super pally with the girls in there then fair enough - but it’s not because all girls are like that and I’d much rather see young women supporting each other and backing each other up. And yeah, Love Island probably isn’t the place to look for that but what can I say? I’m still hooked.

On that note I’m a bit gutted there isn’t a new episode tonight, it was getting really interesting. Will have to make do with unseen bits although I don’t think I can persuade my other half to sacrifice our Homeland boxset binge in favour of ‘that drivel’ as he calls it so I’ll have to catch up tomorrow

Also, last year was my first Love Island and I surprised myself by how gutted I was when they all started breaking up on the outside. (Well gutted is a bit strong, but I was really rooting for Laura and the model guy, and Jack and Danni!) Hopefully I’m a little wiser this year, as I’m also nearly 40 and there’s no excuse really!

I think Curtis is stuck with awful Amy too. Poor thing. He was too quick to become part of the new Dani and Jack/mum and dad of the villa and now he’s stuck with her. When he told Any to stop being such a drama queen it was very telling. He has to be consistent if he wants people to believe their ‘lovestory’. Out of all of them, the only person I actually believe has really fallen for someone is Joe. The producers are going to break them up aren’t they to make ‘tv’ though I think it would be lovely to see a real love affair develop and blossom in front of us instead of the others acting them out.

Joe can't believe his luck that he's with Lucie if he cools the obsessive controlling act they have a shot at winning but at the moment my favourite couple is Amber and Michael m

I really want Amy to turn it round, drop the Lucie thing and start showing a bit more of a fun side. I don’t want to believe she’s just a moany nightmare because I liked her at the start, but she’s not come across well the last few episodes.

Curtis is grating on me quite a lot too.

But unfortunately Amy has shown that she's nothing but a moaning nightmare with a propensity for drama!
