Dogs Grin

Pancakes have been a tradition since that dayGrin.

With extra sausage, for dd2.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/08/2019 21:39

Well, I never knew that. I like Spoons breakfasts because they are ridiculously cheap, tasty and the refills of coffee. I also like that they use nice blue and white plates, none of this food on chopping boards business.

Raahh · 16/08/2019 21:40

Red no, mainly coffeeGrin

Our favourite Spoons closed a few years back. I'd been going there for for years. Now we tend to go to the one that is near the cinema. It's now quite as nice- but I like the carpet.

NEVER go to the Trafford Centre one. They charge almost double, for the same menu everywhere else!

MadisonAvenue · 16/08/2019 22:09

I didn't know that about the carpets! I was in one of our two local ones yesterday morning with my younger son, having breakfast. I like Spoons, and they do a good job of transforming old buildings too.

I'll pay attention to the carpets next time and see if they're design matches the pub. One locally is a former ironmongers shop dating from the 1700s while the other is a mansion house and it's themed on horse racing as there were racing stables attached, there's even a picture of my great great uncle on the wall as he was a Grand National winning jockey apparently.

KFC fries are never warm enough when we have them.

MadisonAvenue · 16/08/2019 22:11

Expletive I love those plates!

We went to the one in Birmingham airport before we flew to Prague a few months ago and the food prices were eye watering. We had a drink but got Boots meal deals instead 😂

Raahh · 16/08/2019 22:26

Madison don't blame you! It annoys me that they up the prices I perceived premium places.

It does remind me of spending 24 euros on basically a couple of burger meals at the airport in Turkey. We were warned before we aren't. We still did it! Grin

MadisonAvenue · 16/08/2019 22:31

Airports are boring though aren't they...eating passes some time 😂

My husband's still getting over spending $17 on two ciders in a bar in Vegas three years ago.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/08/2019 22:36

Not just the eating that's expensive, I got fleeced for £12 for staying just over an hour in the short stay parking at Heathrow recently Angry.

TDogsInHats · 16/08/2019 22:50

My DS bought my DH the spoons carpets book a couple of years ago Raahh it's fascinating.
I do not like the owner of spoons, he's annoying.
Doctors back soon.
Gratuitous mention

MadisonAvenue · 16/08/2019 23:18

That's terrible Expletive

We took a wrong turning in roadworks when trying to find an NCP car park outside of Heathrow, which we'd booked into, and ended up within the airport and in one of their car parks last year. We had no option but to go through the barrier and take the ticket so headed straight to the exit and pressed the contact button and thankfully we were let out without paying once the CCTV or whatever had been checked.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/08/2019 23:32

I lost my ticket at the local shopping centre once and thought I was heading for the £25 fine but I did the same, pressed the call button at the pay machine and they sorted it all out for me, phew.

Redshoeblueshoe · 16/08/2019 23:54

Raahh You know where I live, and I actually never knew there's a 🥄 at the Trafford Centre.
I saw Mrs Ts double today, I would have told her to get back to Lethbridge, I can't even tell her to get back to Coronation Street as I think she's forgotten where it is Shock Wine 🥄 Grin

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/08/2019 07:07

I thought you meant Mrs Thatcher for a moment then. That would be weird.

TDogsInHats · 17/08/2019 10:33

How strange/worrying that I immediately thought Mrs Tembe (and didn't remember that Mrs T is usually meant to be Margaret's moniker.)Grin

Raahh · 17/08/2019 11:08
Grin

I've just seen my ramblings last night were more incoherent than usual Grin- that's what happens when I post from my phone, and don't keep taps on what the autocorrect is doing Grin.

Red the Spoons in the TC is called Mardi Gras, it's in the bit of the foodhall upstairs that is done up to look like New Orleans Grin.

Raahh · 17/08/2019 11:09

And I'd be very scared if i bumped into Mrs Thatcher Grin

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/08/2019 11:45

Raahh my brain has probably slipped out of my ear. Fairly recently I had dinner in that Spoons

Raahh · 17/08/2019 11:54
Grin

I think it kind of hides the fact it is one a bit- plus the fact the menu is a bit different to the usual, (and , as I said, more expensive).

I really want a Spoons breakfast now Grin

MadisonAvenue · 17/08/2019 12:01

Me too Raahh
I think today I'd either go for eggs benedict or pancakes with bacon and maple syrup.

MadisonAvenue · 17/08/2019 12:02

Stop serving at 12 though don't they 😒

I'd also like one of their coffee machines in my kitchen.

Raahh · 17/08/2019 12:07

Oh yes, one of the coffee machines would be great Grin

NutButterNutter · 17/08/2019 21:34

Woah the thread has moved on a lot from the rain!! Talking of the rain I did an M1 run yesterday and kept almost dying in the constant lorry spray scarrryyyyy
I'm going to have to check out 'Spoons' carpets!! I love that there's a book about them Grin
Told you're right, the owner is a bit of a nobber.
Roll on Doctors, I've almost lost the ability to daytime TV without you! I'm off on holiday and not back until the 3rd so will miss the start Sad

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/08/2019 22:11

I'm away in September, but we haven't decided on a date yet.
Do we know when Doctors is back ?

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/08/2019 22:54

It's back on the 2nd Grin

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/08/2019 22:57

Thanks. I think I will be away after that.
