Drinking to have a good time that's the relevance

The cast have been boring so far

Not everyone has to drink, it's a choice but does the entire cast have to be limited to 2 drinks?

Fairylea · 13/06/2019 15:55

Thank you @mumto2babyboys I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. Flowers

noleftturn · 13/06/2019 15:55

I think they should be treated like adults and given a chance to prove themselves before limited to 2 drinks

Sagradafamiliar · 13/06/2019 15:56

These are grown adults, not teenagers. Adults can usually be trusted to drink as they wish and if they don't moderate their own behaviour, then I'm sure the producers would. We don't have to infantilise everyone or think of the extremes of being absolutely blind drunk when alcohol is mentioned. It's just as unhealthy to think alcohol= falling down drunk. That's drinking problem territory.

noleftturn · 13/06/2019 16:00

I can only assume they're trying to make sure that no one gets accused of doing something without consent

noleftturn · 13/06/2019 16:01

Maybe because of the metoo movement?

itswinetime · 13/06/2019 16:04

I agree they have to be ultra careful of this and I imagine it is what is behind the drink limit.

Fairylea · 13/06/2019 16:05

I have wondered that too about the consent / drinking issue.

I’ve had plenty of moments in my late teens / early 20s where I’ve got completely off my face and ended up doing some very stupid things (I am now nearly 40 and been teetotal ten years). I am glad that social media wasn’t around back then to capture my humiliating moments for eternity. If I had been on love island or similar back in the day I’m sure I would have shagged someone or done all kinds of raunchy stuff when I was drunk that I wouldn’t do in the cold light of day.

When people are drunk they forget what they’re doing / that there are cameras about etc. It makes good TV but it’s very questionable when it comes to consent etc.

unique1986 · 13/06/2019 16:06

Also I think 50k applied to go on last year,
You would think a few thousand would not be surgically enhanced.
They must not even look at any of the applications.

Sagradafamiliar · 13/06/2019 16:10

Possibly, it's all filmed/recorded though. I can't think of a more safe environment.

Sagradafamiliar · 13/06/2019 16:12

The no wanking rule isn't because they're being PG, it's because of one of them gets horny, they want them shagging.

Smotheroffive · 13/06/2019 16:16

Exactly, any alcohol reduce inhibitions and giving it to young adults to 'pep up' the entertainment is so wrong.

Also, just to correct a wrong assumption, i said the airing of a show that leads viewers to want people to drink to make them more entertaining (not boring, which is frankly just rude). I didnt actually say anything about the amount of alchohol or otherwise given to the participants or not.

Smotheroffive · 13/06/2019 16:19

The 'no wanking' rule ??? The young participants need to realise that this would be an illegal thing to try to enforce over anyones body, if thats for real

unique1986 · 13/06/2019 16:25

Elma looks around 5ft ?

Sagradafamiliar · 13/06/2019 16:28

I imagine they could enforce the no wanking under pubic decency type 'laws' as it's all being recorded and there are always other people about, including cameramen (no idea what the jurisdiction in the country they're filming in actually is). Most would sign the terms and conditions whatever they are, to get on the show.

unique1986 · 13/06/2019 16:29

Every Episode should be 90 mins!
Viewers obv want more action and less staged stuff.

itswinetime · 13/06/2019 16:33

Also I think 50k applied to go on last year,

I didn't realise that many applied out of a pool that big I would hope there are a good amount of people without enhancements otherwise it's a sad state of affairs.

The no wanking rule isn't because they're being PG, it's because of one of them gets horny, they want them shagging.

Absolutely they want them shagging they don't want anyone saying they regret it the next day though or that they wouldn't have done it if they weren't drunk that would be a nightmare for the show. I think a us tv show got into trouble for something similar

Bluntness100 · 13/06/2019 16:33

The no wanking rule isn't because they're being PG, it's because of one of them gets horny, they want them shagging.

This isn't true. It's because it's legally considered a public place. And there are decency laws. It's the same reason as no nudity in the shower. It's a public place. There are a variety of crew members, producers etc watching them all the time, never mind the contestants, and they can't be expected to have to watch someone having a wank..

The toilet is private and they can masturbate in there if they wish. What they cannot do is openly masturbate where they can be seen by other contestants or crew/staff members.

To me this is completely and utterly reasonable.

Sagradafamiliar · 13/06/2019 16:37

That's what I said re public masturbation. It also encourages sex as that's what the producers want. Sex, not rape, so maybe there is something in the low alcohol rule. I would be very surprised though given it's all filmed.

desperatehousewife21 · 13/06/2019 16:47

Also how cringe would it be to have a wank knowing you were being watched by crew members Blush

Smotheroffive · 13/06/2019 16:50

They have privacy rights so they can use the toilet and wank as much as they want, who said wanking publicly?!

My, how strange

Sagradafamiliar · 13/06/2019 16:55

Allegedly, they're the rules of the show 😂 obviously you'd have to agree to the rules when you sign the contract

Outofinspiration · 13/06/2019 16:56

I imagine the no wanking rule is to prevent the girls being subjected to the blokes jacking off all over the place. Because they totally would. And yes, public decency.

Smotheroffive · 13/06/2019 17:05

What a load of nonsense. They can all wank as much as they like, its illegal to prevent anyone performing any normal bodily functions. What a nonsense!

Bluntness100 · 13/06/2019 17:06

The wanking rules are literally because legally the villa is a "public place". You cannot wank in public places. That's it. They clearly can in private in the loo, no one films in there, but no one wants to lie in bed when someone else is having a wank. And they sleep dorm style. Or be eating rheir breakfast watching someone toss one off in the shower. And it's not fair on the crew either.

There are people who would go in there and do that, so it's right it's banned. The crew can only be expected to view so much too.

I'm really not sure why folks are looking for an ulterior motive. Really is hugely reasonable they don't want them openly wanking. I'm beyond shocked anyone would think there needs to be another reason.

It's reason enough people are watching .
