The Handmaid's Tale S3: Channel 4 pace * NO SPOILERS *

There are a couple of other threads about Season 3 of The Handmaid's Tale. Both of these threads include people who have already watched the first few episodes through streaming services.

Is there anyone else who will be watching it on Channel 4? The first episode will be shown at 9pm on Sunday 9 June.

I'd really like to have a thread where we can discuss it at the pace it's shown on Channel 4.

Checking in.

I wonder if they'll be watching in Alabama?

Got my DD a copy to read before she watched and she loved it and is now getting into more of my Atwood collection. Win -win.

Quick question it started on irish tv last night with two episodes back to back. Will there be two on c4 on Sunday or just one?

RedForShort · 07/06/2019 09:00

If there's only one on C4 this Sunday, we might need to add to the multitude of other Handmaid's Tale threads and create an RTE one!!

youngestisapsycho · 07/06/2019 11:18

I think a thread per episode is a good idea... like GoT was done. There is always a lot of discussion for each episode...

legolimb · 07/06/2019 12:24

Me.

I hadn't realised it was so soon.

Excited now!!

WhentheDealGoesDown · 07/06/2019 20:26

Didn’t know this was back on Sunday, looking forward to it

Nelumbo · 08/06/2019 20:11

Checking in, just re-watching the last couple of episodes to re-fresh.
I was planning on re-watching both seasons thinking I would have some time after the HBO Launch but it came quicker than I expected!

Looking forward to it

Well we are definitely watching in NI, where the abortion laws are actually harsher than Alabama.

HollySniffs · 08/06/2019 22:33

Sorry Freshly, didn't mean to be insensitive to NI.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/06/2019 22:51

I'll be watching it tomorrow on c4

Freshlysteamedvajayjay · 08/06/2019 23:09

Holly, no offence taken!

TheFirstOHN · 08/06/2019 23:50

I watched the final episode of S2 (we got Now TV for a couple of months in order to watch GoT) and I'm struggling with the decision June makes at the end of the episode (hopefully this doesn't count as a spoiler since it was shown a year ago).

I understand that June might want to remain in Gilead for Hannah, but I feel that the risk to her of staying (and the detrimental effect to Nicole of June staying) far outweigh the tiny hypothetical chance that she might be able to rescue Hannah (and that Hannah would then psychologically recover from being separated from her new caregivers).

Obviously I can't imagine what it would be like to be in that situation, but looking at it from outside, I don't think she made the best choice.

Place marking.

It's after midnight so happy Handmaids Day to you all and Under his eye! Can you tell I don't have much of a life and I'm right ridiculously excited about this.

EvilTwins · 09/06/2019 00:15

Cannot wait.

Ratbagcatbag · 09/06/2019 11:57

I'll be watching tonight but an hour behind you guys!! I didn't see the thread last season so excited about this one.

ArabellaDoreenFig · 09/06/2019 15:48

Checking in. Can’t watch until tomorrow evening- so excited about the new series!

I’m adding my vote to a thread per episode please! Much easier to keep up with, and avoid spoilers.

Under His Eye!

Bowbridge · 09/06/2019 16:44

Can anyone give a brief recap on what happened in the final episode of the last series. I just remember June running through a lot of fire and being handed from Martha to Martha. What happened to the baby?

Can't wait for tonight and the new thread to begin. I enjoy the discussion as much as the episode. Don't forget to put the subtitles on for all the subtleties in the background and to clarify what is being said.

UrsulaPandress · 09/06/2019 17:04

June gave the baby to Emily, tells her to call her Nicole and then stays in Gilead. Presumably to try and rescue Hannah.

I binged watched the last series on a long haul flight and was sobbing my way through the last 10 minutes of the last episode as the plane landed in storm Hannah. Horrific landing which will forever be linked with June’s escape through the rain and fires.

Crinkle77 · 09/06/2019 17:17

Can't wait. Praying it's good. I was a little disappointed with season 2 cos season 1 was just so brilliant. I found it frustrating more than anything.

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 09/06/2019 17:52

Checking in for tonight's episode & another who votes for a thread per episode!

Excited and scared in equal measure. I'm also from NI and whilst NI needs to change, it feels the momentum is moving in the right direction whereas in Alabama and Georgia, they're moving backwards. To me, that's the main difference and also why I support actors boycotting Alabama and Georgia but would be massively opposed for the same thing being proposed for NI.

RedForShort · 09/06/2019 19:08

RTE viewers- it appears that there's just one episode on tonight on C4

Think we might need our own thread!!

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 09/06/2019 19:21

So jealous that RTE showed 2 episodes straight away!

TripleTKA · 09/06/2019 19:32

Marking place, only watched the first 2 seasons a while ago but excited that season 3 is starting when it’s all fresh in my mind.

pineapplebryanbrown · 09/06/2019 19:40

Where can I watch the first few episodes (will behave and no spoilers).

CruCru · 09/06/2019 19:44

Thanks for the thread! Yes please, can no one do that thing where they go “OMG Episode 4!!!”? It spoils the suspense.
