Tbh I am amazed to taken so long for ITV to wake up to the damage this man can do to his guests.

Sounds like there has been a suicide with participation in the show a significant factor.

They have played with people’s lives for entertainment for too long.

I'm not at all surprised, I only watched this disgusting show once, never again.

JaneEyre07 · 13/05/2019 10:30

Completely agree.

It's puerile at best.

HappyHammy · 13/05/2019 10:30

How sad. It's not just JK though is it , the whole show is unkind and confrontation. The audience are just as bad. I hope they pull it for good.

Reallybadidea · 13/05/2019 10:36

The attitudes and behaviours exhibited on that show are not so very different from the AIBU topic. IMHO.

Ginkypig · 13/05/2019 11:16

Whatever you think of the guests life choices the vast majority of them are vastly unequipped to be capable of understanding the ramifications of being on the show. They in fact are unequipped for life in general as seen by the issues they are bringing to the show.

It is the modern day equivalent of a freak show or a zoo and we should all be ashamed that in a modern, emotionally intelligent society we we a part of it!

youaremyrain · 13/05/2019 11:18

It's completely unethical.

The worst bit is when JK is shouting in people's faces and bullying them telling them to stop being aggressive!

He's such a horrible control freak of a man.

I've read reports of the staff deliberately sleep depriving the guests before they appear, and giving them false information about the other guests in order to provoke conflict on screen. I can't find the link but I found this

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 13/05/2019 11:21

Awful man, have seen him shout at someone in real life too.

TheQueef · 13/05/2019 11:28

About time this was taken off.
The only people who watched it were watching because it makes them feel better to see others in fire straights and it perpetuates the chav myth.

Clawdy · 13/05/2019 13:41

Hope this means the end of the whole thing.

qazxc · 13/05/2019 13:44

There's a daily fail article with a former guests recounting what happened.
They had applied to Trisha but she got replaced by JK, the show apparently inherited the files.
The guests were teenage son with drug issues and his mother.
They were kept apart, fed lies about what each other was saying to wind them up.
Little sleep,
JK tried to blame the mother, son defending her got cut out in the edit
Drug test results were wrong, came back clear even though he had been taking drugs.
Aftercare was 1 half hour councelling session.
JK on air offer of a job turned out to be unpaid work which was unfeasible as guests lived in the isle of wight.

howwudufeel · 13/05/2019 13:46

The DNA tests on babies who haven’t got the capacity to give their consent to having their personal information disclosed is hugely invasive. Vile show.

Traveler001 · 13/05/2019 13:58

I’m sure I read a few years ago a ‘guest’ who was violent to his girlfriend and was really wound up by JK went on to beat his girlfriend really horrifically (not that it’s anyones fault but the abusers obviously) and I was surprised then it was still allowed on.

stucknoue · 13/05/2019 13:58

Whilst I don't watch this kind of stuff, you have to remember these people choose to go on the show, they want the infamy for some strange reason. I suspect a lot is actually made up too, people want the exposure

qazxc · 13/05/2019 14:11

To a certain extent, but the show clearly targets a certain demographic, one that is vulnerable to manipulation.
In an official setting most of them would need safeguards, like an appropriate adult when being interviewed by police for example.
It raises the issue of how much of an informed decision are they making when they sign up.
And that is before they are subjected to the unethical processes that happen in the making of the show.

TheQueef · 13/05/2019 14:13

They recruit guests from CAB or outside drug clinics. They only want rock bottom.

MrsBungle · 13/05/2019 14:14

I hope the show is finished forever. It’s awful and Jeremy Kyle is abusive and vile.

TheQueef · 13/05/2019 14:34

I'd love the former guests to start a group claim for mental anguish and get the psych struck off.
First do no harm.

Wishiwasincornwall · 13/05/2019 16:53

As soon as I saw the news this morning I automatically thought that perhaps a man has killed his girlfriend after receiving lie detector results "proving" she had cheated or a dna test with an outcome he didn't want.

My second thought (as depressing as it is to admit) was I am surprised this hasn't happened sooner.

It is just bear baiting for the modern audience isn't it.

hellenbackagen · 13/05/2019 16:57

A judge once criticised the show as bear baiting in court a few years back.

I've dealt with a few folk who have been on that show and it is obscene how they take advantage of people who are often extremely vulnerable for one reason or another.

Hope this is the end of him and his vile pile of shite show.

qazxc · 13/05/2019 18:41

The lie detector tests are totally unreliable and only slightly better odds than flipping a coin (61% apparently).
If someone has come to harm because of one of them, I hope the show get sued (although I imagine they will have covered their arses with signed disclaimers).

DarkDarkNight · 13/05/2019 21:36

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve heard tales before about the Producers whipping up trouble between the guests. The way Jeremy Kyle gets in people’s faces is disgusting.

He isn’t exactly squeaky clean himself yet stands in judgement over people.

Yoursilentface · 13/05/2019 22:29

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago and people were saying that the guests were given as much alcohol as they liked the night before then woken really early. Which is why they always look so disheveled.

Someone also linked to an article that said the lie detector is only 66% accurate. How many families have been torn apart due to false positives.

Wolfiefan · 13/05/2019 22:31

Truly horrible TV. I hope it’s finished for good.

PerfectPeony2 · 13/05/2019 22:35

I agree. It’s horrendous.

It just makes me sad. The worst thing is, JK takes the most uneducated, vulnerable people in society and manipulates them for entertainment. Knowing full well there are always children involved, they have no intention of breaking any cycle of dysfunction or abuse. He goes on about aftercare but it’s a complete lie, and ITV think it’s okay to laugh at these people. Everyone who makes this show should be ashamed of themselves.

Drogosnextwife · 13/05/2019 22:39

He is a disgusting little man who has made a fortune from ruining other people's lives and being a bully. Hopefully some will be able to drag him through the courts for something.
