Tbh I am amazed to taken so long for ITV to wake up to the damage this man can do to his guests.

Sounds like there has been a suicide with participation in the show a significant factor.

They have played with people’s lives for entertainment for too long.

Can't believe the show has been on for so long, and it should be on after the watershed, 9pm. I used to do a job where i would visit low income families/single mums and they always had this bl*y show on and their babies/toddlers would be watching the TV with adults yelling at each other. I guess they grow up thinking this is "normal". Sad :-(

Susiesoap7 · 14/05/2019 13:26

Bring back jerry stringer that's all I have to say

PrincessScarlett · 14/05/2019 13:27

It's been on the news that a man took an overdose after failing a lie detector that he cheated on his fiancé. Disgraceful show.

Lordamighty · 14/05/2019 13:31

If the suicide of a participant is the criteria they are using to axe TV shows then Love Island should also get the chop.
I don’t watch either but both shows should be treated in the same way.

Bluerussian · 14/05/2019 13:42

I'm not sorry to see the back of the Kyle show (only seen bits of it), but have a feeling, once all has been investigated, it will be back, maybe modified. Unfortunately it has been very popular amongst those who don't mind shouting, exploitation and voyeurism.

Never seen Love Island.

LysistrataLady · 14/05/2019 13:44

Anyone involved in this show should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

PrincessScarlett · 14/05/2019 13:49

Bluerussian, yes no doubt they will revamp the show and JK will become a saviour for mental health.

I never realised how low the accuracy rate is for those lie detector tests, shocking that many many people took the results as gospel.

GodDammitAmy · 14/05/2019 14:00

How are they allowed to get away with the lie detector tests with such a high risk of failure? That's got to be against some sort of regulation, surely.

Mammajay · 14/05/2019 14:06

I'm glad it is going. I agree some aibu responses have some similarities to jk audience!

Mnetter19831983 · 14/05/2019 16:13

I was about to write that even though it is very tragic this man took his own life, he did know the consequences of coming on daytime TV and being found out as failing a lie detector. Then I read further that this man had split from his fiancè and the results went awry. So in actual fact he didn't cheat. I wish that the headlines would print details accurately instead of misleading. It is very tragic that this man took his own life. I do agree that JK is a bully, hypocritical and narcissistic.

RightOnTheEdge · 14/05/2019 17:01

I think that running along the bottom of the screen it claims the lie detector results are 95/98% accurate.
A lot of the people look genuinely stunned when they fail though so they must be brilliant actors if they really were lying.

staydazzling · 14/05/2019 17:17

I was an audience member as a teen I. mentioned on the other thread, the contestants well certainly some of them were well tanked.

staydazzling · 14/05/2019 17:24

Jon Ronson interviewed someone called Charlotte Scott, who helped cast the JK show the selection process is very disturbing

DuckWillow · 14/05/2019 17:35

My thoughts are that he (and the show) have always been on very dodgy ground with regards to the lie detector results. When a guest fails the test then Kyle is vile to them so I hope a good look is taken at what was said to this man by JK when the results were given.

Lie detector tests are totally unreliable and I would never ever agree to take one to prove my innocence is something. Kyle acts like they are 100% proof.

There’s no kindness at all. I can’t help thinking it’s one of the reasons we live in a society where people feel free to be so vile to each other.

@staydazzling

I'd like the read/hear that interview, do you know where I can find it?

Yoursilentface · 15/05/2019 20:12

I think that running along the bottom of the screen it claims the lie detector results are 95/98% accurate.

Apparently its more like 66%

staydazzling · 15/05/2019 20:16

it's in a book called the psychopath test by Jon ronson, it's about mental health labelling interestingly he was talking about it last night on ch4 this link at 11.57 www.channel4.com/news/jon-ronson-shows-like-jeremy-kyle-are-very-much-behind-the-time-about-stigmatising-mental-health-issues

Singlenotsingle · 15/05/2019 20:22

I don't watch it because it makes for uncomfortable viewing. But apparently be too he viewing figures went down by 66% when Dickinson's Real Deal went on instead. People are saying JK will be snapped up by Ch4 or 5 and do something very similar.

Heartlake · 15/05/2019 20:23

Where I was working today some of the staff were genuinely horrified by the show being taken off.

'But what about all the people that he's helped?!'

'Love island has been much worse!'

I'm baffled. Vile show, vile man, vile producers. Eugh.

DragonTrainer3 · 15/05/2019 22:11

Can't stand this show. One of the LSAs that was working with my DS (who has ASD) thought it was funny because he didn't know who Jeremy Kyle was. I was horrified and told her I was glad, he was a horrible slimy man, and I would never encourage him to watch such exploitative trash.

She says she watched it because it made her feel better about her life. Since then, I haven't been able to see her in the same way.

What kind of person, working with kids with disabilities, would make themselves happy by watching vulnerable people, sometimes with mental illnesses, fight each other? I'll always be wondering if she's working with my kids to make her feel better when they fail too.
