so what is it next week??

David Becks documentary??

throckenholt · 18/07/2007 08:58

did you really take it seriously? What struck me was how funny it all was and how she obviously has a sense of humour and knows fully how to manipulate her image.

I can see how the humour may have been missed by the Americans though.

She is obviously not the image centred bimbo that she is made out to be - she is playing that part to the hilt to make a huge amount of money while she can I guess.

jenk1 · 18/07/2007 09:40

no i disagree, while she may have been sending herself up, there were parts in there that were real like why couldnt she eat a piece of a cookie, she looked horrified when he asked her to do that and if she,s so upset by the "skeletal" comments as she said she was then why not prove everyone wrong.
and leaving her boys for 3 weeks to do this, if thats not self absorbed i dont know what is.
she hasnt come out of this good, it has backfired horribly.

electra · 18/07/2007 09:43

She doesn't eat carbohydrates, like a lot of celebrities.

noddyholder · 18/07/2007 09:45

I think she is trying to convince everyone that she is sending up the image as when the public thought that was the real her they didn't like it.She looks to me like she is that person and has done nothing to make me think otherwise.America won't buy it thats for sure.

Nbg · 18/07/2007 09:46

I had acid indegestion after 10 mins and turned it off.

She obviously playing on her image in abig way and going OTT on alot of things but some of the stuff was just stupid.
Well what I saw of it.

I hated the part where her new PA asked if she would be looking after David too and Victoria went a bit mental. She made that poor girl squirm.

bundle · 18/07/2007 10:52

I didn't see this programme, but Lucy Mangan did:

"The programme and its subject were utter, utter crap - boring, mendacious and requiring the invention of a new vocabulary to describe its unreserved vapidity. For the next documentary, the crew should just film themselves kicking an empty tin can down the street for 60 minutes. I assure you it will be indistinguishable from an hour spent filming the human non-event that is Victoria Beckham."

Nbg · 18/07/2007 10:58

lol

shes got it spot on

anniebear · 18/07/2007 11:20

I think most of it was very tongue in cheek

I think she has a very dry sense of humour which is taken seriously

Oblomov · 18/07/2007 11:27

I had to turn it off. It was cringeworthy and she is an embarrassment.

Lumos · 18/07/2007 11:27

Have only skimmed the thread but I know I;m going to be against popular opinion by saying I like her. Yeah she's obviously got issues especially with her weight but I think she came across like she wasn't afraid to take the piss out of her self. Have to say I prefer her to David.

coddy · 18/07/2007 11:28

the prog was terrible

tiredemma · 18/07/2007 11:32

I cannot see the point in watching that Preying Mantis ponce around in LA.

They are both media whores.

noddyholder · 18/07/2007 11:45

He has a show next week and he looks awful His eyebrows are over plucked and his whole look is King Chav Why do women fancy him?

jenk1 · 18/07/2007 11:55

i used to like her a couple of years back but its true what lucy mangan said, she did used to be funny and sparky but now she comes across as so self obsessed and why put it on so much (if she was intending to send herself up) to get more bad press, she is addicted to fame and the limelight and will do anything to get it it seems, i feel sorry for her.

bundle · 18/07/2007 12:03

their PR machine is obviously incredibly powerful, the coverage has been massive...but maybe they didn't realise they'd have the piss ripped out of them so much

myalias · 18/07/2007 12:20

Just one thing to say major..........rubbish!!!

jojosmaman · 18/07/2007 14:02

I was so hoping to watch this and think, actually she is quite funny and down to earth. The whole thing has totally backfired on her, she is trying to pretend to be a "daft teenage blonde" who, like, always says "like" and accentuates the end of her sentences, like, she's asking a question? and who can't do anything (like Paris Hilton in the Simple Life"). But she is a 30-odd year old mother of three from Essex!!

When she did her last doc she came across as being alright so god only knows why she thought this programme format was a good idea. She has lost the plot.

I saw the re-run last night and although I'm a skinny person myself and think there's nothing wrong with being slim, I have to say that she looks awful. She has the body of a 9 y.o. boy. That's not normal nor is it pretty.

southeastastra · 19/07/2007 15:27

i must admit to laughing like a loon when vb asked the estate agent about local celebrities and she said 'spiderman lives down the road'.

it was hit and miss some parts made me laugh some cringe like mad. (she seemed to nick alot of jessica simpson's act).

I thought she was funny. Am I the only one? I didn't watch it all but who were those strange women with the face lifts in the over decorated house?

jojosmaman · 20/07/2007 13:49

I personally find her as funny as a hangover. The dolphin woman was the comic highlight of the show.

What makes me laugh is that she does have this warped view that the public think she is hilarious- since when? Laughing at you love, not with you.

lilymum · 20/07/2007 14:12

Just gutted now that I missed this, obviously TV highlight of the year...
