Hail survivors of The Battle of Winterfell.

The 'mysterious' episode 4 premieres tonight.

Who will be with us at 2am?

I am desperate to find out if Arya's kill is openly discussed and acknowledged, or does Bran take the credit, or does it remain a mystery.

Given Emilia Clarke has said Episode 5 is the one for which we will need 'bigger television screens' what will lead up to it?

I also read that post as past tense it was one of the questions from after the battle of winterfell wasn't it?

Didn't the Melisandre say something about Varys dying at dragon stone last series a prophecy? As we have said she hasn't been the most reliable in the past though.

PreseaCombatir · 08/05/2019 20:57

It's never explained why he's dead but still cognent and 'good'?

He said that the children found him, and managed to work their magic on him before he turned.

Leontine · 08/05/2019 20:58

@cottonwoolmouth I haven’t spoiled anything! It’s already happened 2 episodes ago - they just cut the scene out!

After the battle of Winterfell loads of people were asking what happened to Alys Karstark after seeing her go off with Bran and Theon. Seeing as the deaths of other minor characters like Qhono were confirmed it was assumed that she must have survived. However it’s now been confirmed by D&D that she died and they just cut her death scene.

Summersunshine2 · 08/05/2019 21:01

I'm scared to read this now - has pp posted an end of season spoiler?

Prequelle · 08/05/2019 21:02

I'm really worried that we have expected to much of the writers. I don't think anything will be wrapped up

There's too much

  • the significance of the direwolves.
  • the aegon arc
  • the prophecy
  • the three eyed raven arc
  • the night king history
  • the Dany being infertile thing

Lots more but cant think right now

itswinetime · 08/05/2019 21:02

No just a confirmation of a character death at the battle of winterfell. There are some opinions on what people have read though is the spirt of full disclaimer.

PreseaCombatir · 08/05/2019 21:03

Whoever suggested Bronn took a hostage in Winterfell to give to Cersei and it could be Sansa

Now, I’m all team Sansa, but THAT would be brilliant! (Was n terms of the story, not for Sansa obvs!)

Leontine · 08/05/2019 21:03

@summer no Cotton Mouth accused me of spoilers, but I was just talking about a scene that was cut from an earlier episode.

itswinetime · 08/05/2019 21:08

I think the problem is the story isn't finished. GRRM created the world and the characters and while I think he knows roughly how the all end up I don't think he has figured out how they all get there (otherwise the books would be finished in my opinion). So while that writers can move the story on in broad terms with what they know all the details and some of the finer story line threads are being left unfinished because I don't think anyone has really worked out how to pull them all together yet! That's my take anyway of course there are 2 episodes to go so I could be proved wrong.

Prequelle · 08/05/2019 21:09

They shouldn't have reduced the reasons IMO. They should have taken their time with it.

Prequelle · 08/05/2019 21:09

Seasons

PreseaCombatir · 08/05/2019 21:22

I feel like the writers don’t give a shit anymore, they’ve made their money. (And they don’t want to have to spend it again on silly scenes like Jon actually interacting with his wolf)

cottonwoolmouth · 08/05/2019 21:25

Leo I’m so sorry Blush

I read that as Arya Stark.

House was very loud at the time......

Summersunshine2 · 08/05/2019 21:26

Thank you @Leontine

DeRigueurMortis · 08/05/2019 21:29

Lots of people stating they hate the purported leak ending (disclaimer: I have not read it and don't know what it says).

However, I can't see how this will end without a lot of people being unhappy.

Firstly, as Prequelle has said there is a hell of a lot to wrap up (far more than can be contained in 2 more episodes).

Secondly, fans have a very individual/personal hierarchy of investment in the characters.

So whoever "wins" the iron throne (if there is anything left to win after they've all done fighting) how they did so, who died/suffered in the process is going to resonate very differently for viewers depending on the characters.

That said, what they can do is piss everyone off with an ending that fails to encapsulate and stay true the character arcs/development of key players just to tie things up "neatly" or for shock factor.

My personal worst case (though after Ep4 it's looking more likely) is that we see the Mad Queen emerge and destroy herself. I don't care if she wins the iron throne or dies trying, but imho the idea that this woman whose been through so many trials "loses the plot to her own emotions" as her goal is in sight isn't irony, it's just boringly predictable.

OrianaBanana · 08/05/2019 21:31

Didn't the Melisandre say something about Varys dying at dragon stone last series a prophecy? As we have said she hasn't been the most reliable in the past though.

She said both she and Varys would die in Westeros (not necessarily Dragonstone). Danaerys has already told Varys that if he betrays her she will burn him alive.

Minkies11 · 08/05/2019 21:33

I'm hanging on to a few key things I really want to happen:
Dany doesn't go mad or die
Drogon doesn't die
Cersei dies
Grey Worm doesn't die
The rest I can deal with!

SweetSummerchild · 08/05/2019 21:35

@PreseaCombatir just for you...

PreseaCombatir · 08/05/2019 21:36

I don’t buy the criticisms of ‘anti-feminist’ ‘having only the women fighting’

We’ve seen some lovely female relationships, Dany and Missandei, Brienne and Sansa, Dany and Yara.
They had everyone on the edge of their seats thinking Arya and Sansa would turn on each other, but they united to take down Littlefinger.
Cersei was never gonna be mates with anyone, so it’s only Sansa and Dany.
Much more female solidarity than not.
And the blokes have hardly been besties, have they?

PreseaCombatir · 08/05/2019 21:38

Sweetsummer
Omg don’t...

OrianaBanana · 08/05/2019 21:44

Never mind everyone else, what is going to happen to random Bronze Yohn? He crops up every now and again harrumphing and looking grumpy then disappears again. What’s his motivation now? Where is Sweetrobin? Confused

PreseaCombatir · 08/05/2019 21:51

Yes, Where IS sweetrobin?
(Why am I doing this to myself? Asking questions knowing full well there’ll be no answers!)

OrianaBanana · 08/05/2019 21:53

Maybe he will end up on the Iron Throne and marry Sansa. That sounds nicely ridiculous and unsatisfying.

itswinetime · 08/05/2019 21:53

He was never much of a fighter was he so I'm guessing he is down in the vale throwing things/people out of his moondoor and Bronze Yohn is going back and forth for orders??

OrianaBanana · 08/05/2019 21:54

Maybe JON will marry Sansa. They are now cousins, so perfectly acceptable.
