Hail survivors of The Battle of Winterfell.

The 'mysterious' episode 4 premieres tonight.

Who will be with us at 2am?

I am desperate to find out if Arya's kill is openly discussed and acknowledged, or does Bran take the credit, or does it remain a mystery.

Given Emilia Clarke has said Episode 5 is the one for which we will need 'bigger television screens' what will lead up to it?

myother it's the subreddit called Freefolk. I don't have the direct link to the leak though because I was just randomly scrolling through using the app and came across it - sorry!

MyOtherProfile · 06/05/2019 18:53

Thank you @Prequelle

JasperRising · 06/05/2019 19:03

ElenadeClermont I feel much the same. I will read spoilers about the show but not the books. That said some books I do read the last page - mainly if they are slow going and I am trying to decide if the end is intriguing enough that I want to know how it come about...

It doesn't help that we have got used to some shows being released all at once so waiting a week can be a test of patience when it used to be normal!

SweetSummerchild · 06/05/2019 19:05

Re: spoilers

I read the LOTR and the Harry Potter series before seeing the films. Knowing how they were going to end did not spoil my enjoyment, or reduce the tension of watching.

Indeed, the best filmmakers can make you feel really, really tense and worried despite the fact that the outcome is already known. Argo and Captain Philips spring to mind.

I did not know how episode 3 would end and had a huge headache by the end of it. In the end the ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ culmination of the battle was a huge letdown. I think I’d rather have been forewarned.

JaynePoole · 06/05/2019 19:16

I'm getting a bit concerned that there'll be no brilliant plot and resolution around Bran being the three-eyed raven. Just like there was no brilliant plot and rationale behind the Night King.

TakenForSlanted · 06/05/2019 19:26

I'm so annoyed. They made Brienne something she wasn't. She was strong without a man and without needing one. Now shes crying over him.

See, I don't actually mind this one. It's human and true to real life. I find her more relatable over it. But then, of course, I've been the fighter, the leader, the commander and the woman knighted who's still cried like a silly teen over some boy.

I did feel for Dany at the feast. And, yes, the "who would ride a dragon" part when she had been doing it all along was demeaning and insulting. Having said that: she's power hungry and cruel and has never been a good ruler, despite all her aspirations.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that's why Sansa dislikes her. Sansa's seen enough cruel and power hungry people to recognise another one when she sees them. She's not being particularly smart about it, mind.

Arya did good staying true to herself. I would have been disappointed in her had she decided to become Gendry's wife.

... well, and some of the men did stuff, too. This was an episode about the women, wasn't it?

millythepink · 06/05/2019 19:27

Me too @JaynePoole. I have a horrible feeling that Bran and the NK are now going to be casually discarded and they won't have actually meant anything iykwim?

TakenForSlanted · 06/05/2019 19:46

I have a horrible feeling that Bran and the NK are now going to be casually discarded and they won't have actually meant anything iykwim?

This seems to be pretty much where this is going at this point, yes. And it's pissing me off, actually ...

So, you've spent, like, 7+ seasons building up to the apocalypse, which happened and was over in a second? Now let's get back to petty political squabbles that will be meaningless in a few hundred years' time? Yaaaaaay! Angry

cottonwoolmouth · 06/05/2019 19:51

Yeah the time scale was way off. When Brieane was crying I was like ‘it’s one shag women’ but it actually would have been maybe a weeks worth at most?? I don’t understand why they are cramming every thing in. Why do only five episodes?

cottonwoolmouth · 06/05/2019 19:51

I'm getting a bit concerned that there'll be no brilliant plot and resolution around Bran being the three-eyed raven. Just like there was no brilliant plot and rationale behind the Night King

I’m hoping they are not keeping that back for spin offs.

SweetSummerchild · 06/05/2019 19:55

Let’s face it, it’s a pretty shitty state of affairs when you have to watch the ‘Inside the Episode’ in order to work out what story the showrunners are trading to tell.

I would really love there to be a Children of the Forest/Bloodraven/Bran conspiracy to get humanity to annihilate itself by war, but I think we’re too far down the line for that now.

iklboo · 06/05/2019 19:55

I do really want to smack that smug smile off Cersei's face and impale Euron through his gurning mug with one of his massive crossbows.

My prediction? Ned Stark will be in the shower and Catelyn will tell him she's just had the strangest dream Grin

TakenForSlanted · 06/05/2019 19:59

My prediction? Ned Stark will be in the shower and Catelyn will tell him she's just had the strangest dream

Given the way things are going, I'd actually settle for this as a reasonably satisfying ending.

It's kind of the default tie-up for any loose ends. Dreams don't have to make sense. Or if they do, I need professional help NOW.

Oblomov19 · 06/05/2019 20:17
Grin Ned Stark in the shower, dream aka Dynasty/Dallas. Grin
JasperRising · 06/05/2019 20:17

I don't mind Brienne crying when you think about their arc together. They have gone from her having disdain for him and him taunting her, to him rescuing her and convincing her that he should have killed the mad king, him helping her fulfil her oath, their growing mutual respect, him taking her seriously and knighting her, to shagging. From the outside it looked like he had done a redemption arc so for him to turn around and say none of this has changed who I am I, I am still a hateful person, and I have to go back to Cersei, it was trusting as a viewer hoping that maybe he was free of all of his past. For the character Brienne I can believe it was really upsetting to realise that the Jaimie she believed in couldn't exist because he is so messed up and has so much unfinished business. I like to think she is crying for more than the fact she was dumped.

I am also a bit Confused about Bran. I really hope his purpose wasn't just to tell Jon his parents and attract the NK Tina particular location. Especially when Jojen and Meera and Hodor sacrificed so much. Sam didn't know about Jon's parents (he knew about the marriage not the baby) but they could have used Howland Reed to get round that as he did appear in the tower of joy flashbacks. And does it even matter that Jon is a Targaryen? The way it is playing out currently it seems to just be introducing extra tension with three episodes to go but other things could cause tension. So basically if Bran exists in the show just to generate some last minute betrayals that sucks...

SweetSummerchild · 06/05/2019 20:29

I know I’m going back to the books here, but I’m not convinced Bran is ever leaving the cave. He can ‘Hodor’ from inside it for some purpose, and there is no Night King so no need for that mark nonsense.

I think the ‘threat’ of winter will be more far-reaching than just Winterfell, so it will have more of an impact on the story.

The Targ v Targ battle will be Dany v fAegon, and Jon will play the part he has up to now but without the claim for the iron throne. Regardless of R+L=J, I think he won’t be considered legitimate so it would never be an issue. That’s what fAegon’s there for.

The fAegon storyline has probably cut a good 6 hours’ worth of episode time (it would have impacted on Dorne as well) and D&D do love Lena Headey.

Oh well, it is what it is.

millythepink · 06/05/2019 20:34

Love the idea of the NK's real name being 'Tina' @jasperriding Grin

JasperRising · 06/05/2019 20:46

millythepink Blush really must learn to spell check game of thrones posts...

ElenadeClermont · 06/05/2019 20:53

I agree that Jon Snow is incorporating the fAegon storyline. It is about fitness to rule.

The show characters have very little to do with the books now. E.g. the Golden Company fighting for show Cersei and book fAegon.
Euron is hoping to marry / woo book Dany.

TheFirstOHN · 06/05/2019 20:57

So Dany ends up on the iron throne then where exactly is she going to store her last dragon?

There's a dragon pit at King's Landing.

fancynancyclancy · 06/05/2019 21:09

Inside the Episode Where can I watch these pls?

merrymouse · 06/05/2019 21:11

I agree that Jamie has gone to kill Cersei.

It's pretty clear that he has loved both Brienne and Cersei (in different ways) for a long time. However, as Tyrion says he has always loved Cersei despite knowing exactly who she is, so why would he stop now? His love for her can only end with her death.

He might die killing her, but I am hoping that goodbye wasn't the end of the Brienne/Jamie arc, and that eventually he will be redeemed, even if only in death. It doesn't make sense to have the speech about how awful he is at the end of episode 4 if he doesn't somehow show his true worth by the end of episode 6.

I also suspect that Sansa won't stay in the North (not much happening the now), which would bring Brienne south.

yumyumpoppycat · 06/05/2019 21:13

I think varys will ask for a people's vote.

PreseaCombatir · 06/05/2019 21:26

I feel like I’m the books the connection the stacks had with their direwolves was magical, the wolves were every bit as magical as the dragons.
They were huge hulking beasts that the commoners told awed tales of.
Wolves as big as a horse.

In the show they turned them into nothing more than pet dogs.

PreseaCombatir · 06/05/2019 21:29

Well that was a total auto correct disaster, but you know what I mean 😂
