We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, film and kpop when the mood takes us. To get to grips with the lingo, try dramaloveaddicts.proboards.com/thread/24/korean-word-day?page=1

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but usually only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Great day or night everyone, I'm Nienna the CM for this channel. First I wanna thank your support by following this channel and watching here at viki. Since some of you are asking, I will be explaining the subtitling process so new viewers understand why there's not immediate subtitles on each video. [Para español mirar abajo]

About the subtitling process:

1. The drama episode will air in Korea;

2. A few hours later, the episode will be uploaded by Viki's team without subs. All our work after this point is done by volunteers, drama fans just like you.

3. Segmenters will be the first to work on the video. They create spaces so that we can put the lines of the characters since subtitles DO NOT come upload with the video as soon as the video is uploaded. It must first be segmented, this takes about 2 hours.

4. When the segmenters are finished, the volunteer translators of the Korean-English team begin translating, this may take several hours due to different time zones. In the end, subtitles need to be reviewed a few times before being translated into other languages, this may take 24 hours.
   Subtitles will appear gradually, in real time, as they are created, that's why you may see empty subs sometimes.

5. When English subtitles are complete, translation into other languages can begin; Other language teams CANNOT start translating before the English subs are complete and fully edited.
   This may take from half a day to a few days - typically 24 hours for popular shows.

Subtitles are not guaranteed by viki, since they are made by volunteers. Viki cannot control whether subtitles will be availabe, or when, or in which languages. Thus this free service is not included in vikipass

Asking the volunteers to work more quickly in comments makes no difference whatsoever

Watching Live Stream of Billboard Awards... And it's hilarious.... Everytime the camera flicks to BTS... the fans just SCREAM.... Award shows are going to stop inviting BTS as its sooo noisy!! 😂 😂 😂 😂

I forgot to say last night that ep 7 of Her Private Life was a joy because because it was also very funny. I laughed a lot and even when I wasn’t laughing I was grinning like a fool. That Ryan would have an understanding and appreciation of the rocks was a genius touch. So, so good. Bea - You are in for a treat!

Boatyard - yes indeed! And he seemed so touched when he was given one . And watching the fan sign he gave credit to Si An. But I don’t like the new leather jacketed artist she is trouble.

I thought the ‘kiss’ was very clever too

KJW looked fabulous on the balcony at the fansign event. It’s not hard to see how FL’s head has been turned. Si An is a mere boy in comparison.

I liked her explanation about how she found joy in her art when she had her set back. It was great that you saw the penny drop about the marked canvas, but also that she could tease him about being a difficult artist if they’d met abroad.

Yes, the explanation of switching hands and thus being released from expectations was very insightful.

However some of her fan art in her flat is a bit dodgy (but then a lot of fan art does tend to be)

Maybe she’s still using her left hand.

Watched the first 5 mins of HPL at 0 and made the tough decision to wait for full subs
(I had to know what happened with that kiss!)

Its leapt from 5% to 21% in the last 15 mins or so, so I am hopeful that we’ll be able to watch earlier tonight.

I had a random thought while sitting in traffic (as you do), that the thumb kiss from ep 7 may be what they do when faking kiss scenes as actors.

Hey... Quick question about HPL... is Eun Gi her brother?? Its a little confusing... At first he seemed to be... But now in ep3 he seems to be set up as an unrequited love interest.. It's all a little confusing!?
