We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, film and kpop when the mood takes us. To get to grips with the lingo, try dramaloveaddicts.proboards.com/thread/24/korean-word-day?page=1

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but usually only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Me too, Betty. I was trying explain to DH last night how HPL manages to pull off being erotically charged and tame/PG-12ish. A lot of it comes down to the leads, but it artfully shows “a flash of ankle”, like the assumed lesbian relationship which everyone else (audience) was in on so the physical affection between the two women is rendered unproblematic. The fake photos. The fake kiss(es). I guess last week’s wwodshop scene has blown all restraint out of the water. It will be interesting to see how things unfold this week.

Soooo glad You're enjoying Are You Human.... It is incredibly sweet and endearing but enough sense of foreboding and angst to prevent it being sweetly sick...

I read that it wasn't such a great hit in the ratings... which I'm irked about as i think it was really well done.... shame.... hope it comes up on viki sometime and gets the love it deserves ...

as an aside...does anyone know how Viki and Netflix pick their shows... does it just depend on the broadcast company?

No idea but Netflix seem to show a lot of Studio Dragon dramas and Viki slows tvN

Sigh. It’s really glitchy. I’ve already rebooted the AppleTV once. May resort to the app on my phone.

Hmm. Legend of the Blue Sea is loading OK in Viki on the AppleTV.

Nope. Definitely an ep 11 HPL issue. Other stuff is loading fine in the mobile app and on AppleTV, including ep 5 (fat fingers) but ep 11? Nada.

Saw the first 20 mins before had to go out - not fully subbed but just luvverly - now going to have dinner before I can slope off to watch it by myself

You must have beat the rush. My Fellow Citizens is loading just fine.

The low speed on-foot pursuit in ep 26 was so funny, I startled DS1 belly laughing.

Waaaaaaaaaah. I got the first 3 mins but no subtitles, then it crashed again.

I managed to watch it with just a couple of glitches. Aside from the just pure luvvliness of KJW two things stood out.

I still can’t get on. Will reboot the AppleTV one more time just in case.

In the meantime, I watched the first episode of The Guest. As you say, creepy as all hell. In the opening section I had to watch through my fingers when the female cop went into the priest’s home. It’s good, though, and I like the adult psychic. The female cop is also decent. Not enough KJW in ep 1, but otherwise .

Nope. I’d try logging out & logging back in if I could remember my password. Any rescue emails would go to DH’s apple email. 😩
