Take me to church is more...satisfying though Grin

Tinkoschminko · 16/04/2019 21:53

Ah that’s pretty well written! The dialogue’s good!

Cozzo · 17/04/2019 00:02

The sex addict theories come from HP saying “many” about eleventy billion times when he and FB are discussing his past women.

Have watched it all again and feel more satisfied she didn’t get into a relationship with him. I think they’re perfect together in some ways but that’s because they’re both interesting, funny, charismatic and have great chemistry and a connection. As a day to day pairing imagine there’d be too much volatility and ultimately think he’s too damaged.

Watching back it’s obvious how much he’s courting her from when they meet. This slips under the radar because of his status as a priest and he may even be convincing himself he’s not, that he’s helping her, but they’re essentially dating from that first meeting. In the end when she’s picked herself up I’d want her to meet someone who has their shit together and loves her like Klare loves Claire.

Singasonga · 17/04/2019 07:22

There’s some controversy about whether sex addition is a real thing because some psychologists say it’s just a hyper sexual response to dealing with anxiety or depression - in which case S1 FB was definitely acting like one!

We know less about the priest, but as Cozzo says his past problems with sexual relationships were quite heavily hinted at during the bench scene. He literally told her that sex never lead to anything good, and that had been his experience many, many times prior to becoming a priest and swearing it off altogether.

RosaWaiting · 17/04/2019 09:59

I have a feeling the priest's definition of "many" is not the same as Fleabag's definition. It's probably very few but seems far more to him because of the problems it causes.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 18/04/2019 01:37

Late to the party- just watched all of s2- and whilst I had enjoyed s1 a lot, I just thought that this was in a different class. Beautiful ending. I totally got it. They couldn’t be together, it wasn’t about that, but now she’s capable of love and she knows she is and she will be able to go and out and find it in the right place. Without us, because she doesn’t need us anymore. Just brilliant.

Also, anyone else got sexy young Priests as their new go-to erotic fantasy? 😂😬🤷🏼‍♀️

Singasonga · 18/04/2019 06:36

I’d never realised I had the capacity for a “priest thing” until now. 😂

HoraceCope · 18/04/2019 07:47

Total crush on Andrew Scott

But when is Phoebe going to come back to UK? The fuss will have died down

Singasonga · 18/04/2019 08:04

I think she must be on a concentrated campaign to break America. Her timing - reviving the one woman show off-Broadway just as Killing Eve 2 is starting over there, and the buzz from Fleabag 2 here is building up to the US launch in May - seems pretty well arranged for getting industry attention over there.

RosaWaiting · 18/04/2019 10:17

We need a poll facility

I'm not convinced anyone has a priest thing

I think they have an Andrew Scott thing.

Appreciate that's my bias showing there Grin

Cozzo · 18/04/2019 12:18

PWB had her teeth done after S1 so the cracking America could be right Grin

Another superficial observation is Andrew Scott is shorter than PWB irl but they always Tom Cruised him on camera so he showed up ever so slightly taller.

RosaWaiting · 18/04/2019 12:37

oh I just assumed PWB was trying to crack America

re Andrew, no, I think you can see the height difference in most scenes but there are a couple where I wonder if he stood on a box

Sarah Jessica Parker had to do that with the Aidan actor I think.

iklboo · 18/04/2019 12:46

I have neither a priest thing or an Andrew Scott thing.

ByeClaire · 18/04/2019 13:01

I have an Andrew Scott as a hot priest who's not particularly priest-like as written by PWB thing

Cozzo · 18/04/2019 13:10

How about a Klare thing?

Hi Klare

do you know, I was so distracted by the brilliance of it all, I forgot how gorgeous the Klare actor is!

recall · 18/04/2019 19:12

So....who would we have play Fleabag’s mum ?🤔

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 18/04/2019 20:06

Well Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona shaw are you... shame! ...

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 18/04/2019 20:27

are gone I mean! Can't think of anyone better than KST

HoraceCope · 18/04/2019 21:09

I? Anne Chancellor, tall dark, right age, if a bit young, phoebe's own mother played the part of the lady giving the feminist lecture

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 18/04/2019 22:07

Really Horace?! I didn't know that. Why am I surprised? Genius.

Cozzo · 18/04/2019 22:41

Anna Chancellor would be great. Helen McRory or Helena Bonham Carter too, if they played it older.

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 18/04/2019 23:09

Anna chancellor, brilliant.

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 19/04/2019 00:01

Can Maggie Smith please be her granny?

CountFosco · 19/04/2019 05:43

Anna Chancellor is 53 so only 20 years older than PWB and 20 years younger than Bill Paterson. So she's too young to play her mother unless it's in flashback to FBs early 20s. I agree she'd be brilliant but it needs an actress in her 60s. What about Celia Imrie?
