Started watching GOT last week & now at penultimate episode of season 3 & I'm truly traumatised! Not sure if I'll be able to continue with it but also don't think I'll be able to stop! Also don't want to google as don't want to see spoilers but feel like I can't stop myself!

Anyone else late to the party like me & in a similar position?

Bran is mind numbingly boring.

Lungelady · 05/04/2019 15:32

I was a Stannis fan until Shireen.

SaskiaRembrandt · 05/04/2019 15:44

Brienneoftarthiloveyou I can see why.

The weird thing is, I'd read the books but that scenario didn't bother me as much.

Brienneoftarthiloveyou · 05/04/2019 15:59

Are the books worth reading? How many books are there?

Lungelady · 05/04/2019 16:15

I have read 3 of the books. They are very well written

Five, but (trying to remember what they look like on the bookcase) I think one is split into two. They're definitely worth reading! Some of the story lines are bit different though so it can be a bit confusing switching between the two versions.

RedForShort · 05/04/2019 16:29

I think it depends on what kind of reader yoy ar. The books were a little over detailed for me. Felt like every little thing was described in minute precise detail. I did enjoy the few I've read, but at times I just wanted him to get on with telling the story!!!

😁

His tweet is brill!

I enjoyed the books but yes I agree some bits dragged. It's great background reading for the series though. I enjoy reading books of TV shows though.

fussychica · 05/04/2019 19:16

Bran is sooooo boring but DH doesn't agree and says he will be crucial to the final season that doesn't stop him being boring though
Currently halfway through season 6 in preparation for the New season. Loving it but keep saying "dead" as pretty much every character appearsGrin

Nanalisa60 · 05/04/2019 19:23

There are many traumatic moments in GOT there have been many times I have screamed at the TV Noooooooo I can’t believe that has just happened!! I have been devastated many a time but can say with my hand on my heart it been the best roller coasters I have ever watched!! Just amazing can’t wait for the final season.

lotusbell · 05/04/2019 19:26

10 days to go! Gulp!

Cherrypie32 · 05/04/2019 22:25

New to it in our house, we’re up to end of Season 4 after about 4 weeks intense viewing. I find the battle scenes least convincing but am intrigued by the character stuff and relationships. Blood and guts don’t bother me too much but I can’t watch the torture and not sure if I’m going to be able to cope with the Ramsey stuff to come (Season 5 stuff with his new bride). I usually read the Wiki plot synopsis after each episode to make sure I’ve got it 😂

Brienneoftarthiloveyou · 06/04/2019 00:44

Nothing is as bad as his torture of Theon in season 3, so it's ok.

Persimmonn · 06/04/2019 00:59

I started watching last year and finished it within a month. Can’t wait for the last season! I love Tyrion, Lord Varys, Brienne and I did like sleazy snakey Baelish but his accent just got weirder with each season.

Hope you enjoy watching it for the first time!

OneInAMillionYou · 06/04/2019 02:50

I'm avoiding potential spoilers for S8, but there is lots of analysis on You Tube etc of each trailer/ ad.
It looks amazing and being GoT we don't expect a "happy" ending but it will be awful if there are no 'ups'?
Just killing off every character would mightily piss me off given the emotional investment in the show.

I love Arya so much, I will smash the damn tv if they don't treat her right!

humblesims · 07/04/2019 19:08

I found Thyons turture series really tough and nearly stopped watching but actually its worth sticking with it. It does come to end and moves on. Still very violent but I dont think it gets worse than that story line. You must watch the Battle of the Bastards its mindbogglingly brilliant.

humblesims · 07/04/2019 19:08

Theon I mean

RightOnTheEdge · 08/04/2019 09:55

Tea it's not just you. I've never dared to say it before but Hodor is one of my least favourite characters and I didn't really mind when he died 🙈🙈

TeaForTheWin · 08/04/2019 17:59

I think I just didn't get very attached tbh (probably because he was on with boring bran a lot xD). The actual guy does lots of talks on like thronecast ect so he's still about a lot too. I didn't mind the character... just found the whole hodor death stuff unnecessarily complicated tbh. I guess they did it to show that bran can go back and influence the past. Meh.

TeaForTheWin · 08/04/2019 18:00

Mind you I didn't care when dobby died in harry potter either so maybe I have a hard heart hahaha.

(But when glen died in the walking dead I'll admit I sobbed...actually sobbed).

TheweewitchRoz · 08/04/2019 18:12

I hadn't twigged that it was to show that Bran can influence the past - doh! . I now feel like that will be critical in the coming episodes! Thanks @TeaForTheWin

TeaForTheWin · 08/04/2019 18:26

Yeah, there's even a rumour going around that he was the one whispering 'burn them all!' in the mad kings ear (I think somewhere in the show it did mention he heard voices in his head too) so that bran might even have been influencing things (in the future) that far back in the past, orchestrating things to a certain point so that everything would end up as it is now. Whether or not that'll be the case in the show though, who knows.
