I definitely miss Zoe and Nick too.

Charlie's behaviour was appalling in that episode, and Duffy's little speech to the staff was cringey!

RedForShort · 14/04/2019 22:23

It wasn't that I didn't believe you ButtonMooooon, just couldn't believe it was that long!!!

Also mean he is the attacker (suppose trying to pass off his confession and Connie's accusation as crossed wires was a tad far stretched!!).

Not loving new male doctor, he's boringly arrogant - though making new female Doctor look less smug! (Is it Nicky from Westlife @Fromage? Both have similar Dublin accents (least they do if I've recalled Nicky as the right person!)

Just looked at the clips. Wasn't his wife Anita Dobson?

Fromage · 15/04/2019 07:02

Nicky from Westlife?

No.

He was married to Pam St Clement.

I watch casualty more like a spoof than an actual drama now.

RedForShort · 15/04/2019 15:27

I actually forgot David was supposed to have a son until he was emptying his locker and there was a picture of him and a picture he'd made. So least someone in props recalled, even if everyone else forgot!!

Yes LOUISE left a paid job to do nothing as couldn’t afford to eat

Maybe claiming benifits tho assume they if leave a job of own accord she wouldn’t be able to claim

So gawd knows what she is living on

Isitmybathtimeyet · 17/04/2019 09:48

Finally actually watched the episode. Ludicrous that he would be Connie's attacker. It made no sense at all.

why did Charlie tell David it was all forgotten and then go and tell on him?

Because at the end of their conversation David offered to go to Fletch to ask whether Duffy could be reassigned from admin duties (or something else that would have busted Charlie's behaviour to Fletch) so he made the complaint to 'protect' Duffy. He tells her that later in the episode. Another stupid storyline though.

QueenofmyPrinces · 19/04/2019 08:11

Just caught up on last week’s episode. I’m aghast at Charlie’s behaviour.

And what a total anti-climax regarding Connie’s attacker. As if he would have gone into the hospital where the woman he brutally attacked worked - surely he wouldn’t want to risk her recognising him or memories being triggered etc?!!

And the whole “I’m a flash doctor and can fix this girl’s psychological problems by giving her a stethoscope” storyline was also ridiculous.

And the weird girl stalking Ruby??!!

Where are they getting all this crap from?!

The whole episode was just utter nonsense. Things are getting so dire in this show.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2019 21:16

Finally caught up - Charlie was so wrong to do that to DAVID

He must be retirement age by now

I kinda R.E.M. that old man. Do we think he was connies attacker

Listen to your heart. You are not dead - hmmmmmm does that really work

the new doctor was in Red Rock for a while. He belonged to the wealthy family. Think Casualty should go back to being on the screen for 6 months instead of a year. Storylines are rubbish.

purpleme12 · 20/04/2019 20:41

I don't really mind about the discrepancies with Casualty and real life I can deal with that 99 per cent of the time

But what Charlie has done seems to have been forgotten about. David was going to be suspended and now suddenly isn't just because Duffy said not to be. Charlie should be in trouble as it's now come to light but nothing.
I really disliked Charlie when he was doing all this

Why does no-one ever need to work notice when leaving in casualty Rash decided he was going travelling and is off tomorrow- no wonder the NHS is so short of doctors if they can just bugger off at a days notice!

purpleme12 · 21/04/2019 06:24

I really thought Rash would stay with Gem

Optimist1 · 21/04/2019 08:19

Yes, leaving within hours of deciding to go travelling was totally predictable for this hospital (they do it in Holby City, too).

Another Casualty trope was the "if the terminal patient can't go to the prom, then we'll bring the prom to him" scenario. As if that number of visitors and the accompanying music wouldn't disturb other patients.

I thought the contents of Dementia Corner looked as though they'd be very unhygienic!

RedForShort · 21/04/2019 10:20

Was it on last night? Between my tv provider is prone to randomly dropping series records and Casualty randomly not being on i can never be too sure.

Not entirely sure I care, after 30 odd years of watching!!

It was on last night, Red. Probably the worst episode in a long time. The bits I can remember are :

Rash's mother was admitted following an angina attack. Cause of this was apparently because she was snooping in his bedroom and found a box containing travel guides to places in the Far East and his and Gemma's passports. Gemma encouraged him to go travelling on his own as it was his dream, with the promise that once Ian had recovered she'd join him. He was gone within a nanosecond or two (no notice required, obvs).

New male doc was attending the terminally ill boy whose chemo session he promised to attend a few weeks ago, but forgot/had other patients to attend to. The boy was resentful and mouthy to the doc, until he was the one who told him that his treatment hadn't worked and he was all out of options. Boy appreciated the no BS approach, but was disappointed he wouldn't be able to attend his school prom that very night. Doc miraculously gets in touch with a bunch of the boy's friends and persuades them to come to visit him in hospital in their prom glad rags. Music plays, friends are happy to see boy, but sad that this could be the last time. Boy thanks doc, then tells him that he knows he's going to have a painful end, but is relying on doc to come and put him out of his suffering. Meaningful looks from doc.

Duffy decided that dementia patients would appreciate a less sterile environment if they are admitted to Casualty, so she brought in throws, cushions, colourful pictures (and, bizarrely, a photo of Casualty staff back in the days when she and Charlie were young and not so annoying) etc.

Charlie offered David a half-hearted apology, and mused on the fact that his approach to Duffy's diagnosis was less than ideal.

I'm beginning to bore myself now, so perhaps others will add any elements that I have forgotten! Grin

HettySunshine · 21/04/2019 20:04

You know what's weird?

How come Jacob rushed into the staff room to separate Charlie & David at the end of the episode 2 weeks ago but then hadn't been seen or mentioned since? What's that about?

Starting to wonder if I hallucinated him!
