Get in with it! Been watching 20 minutes and nothing's happened.

OP posts:
Jellykat · 10/02/2019 22:57

OMG Derelict, just googled Ediths dress! Gretel gone crackers, WTF?

Graphista · 10/02/2019 23:25

I found it a bit lacklustre this year, stilted & cringey (Joanna is NO presenter, they need to use someone who can think on their feet, an actual presenter or comedian).

"Deborah Davis's speech was probably the most unnatural sounding one I've ever heard" OMG yes painful!

"Loved Mahershala Ali's speech was good though." I'm desperate to see one of his films, I saw him first ages ago in a small part in "lie to me" And he was magnetising.

"How can a bunch of people famous for performing or involved in the production of films all be so mind numbingly dull and boring." They're all TERRIFIED of saying the wrong thing now.

"Bugger, missed the in memory bit! I hope Albert Finney was in it, they must have had time to add him." He was first up & had a long slot. I also love that they used the clip from Erin brokovich - a man of no importance is on after all the news programmes

"Just had to Wiki Salma Hayek" really?! Love her usually but I hate Alfonso Cuaron for shafting Tess geritsen over gravity

"Has anyone here seen any of these films? Just realised I've not been to the cinema for over a year." I've been housebound for past year due to agoraphobia etc missed some great films I think which has bummed me out!

"Dexter Fletcher is still around?!!! Spatz was his high point for me" he's a director now he was brought on to bohemian rhapsody to finish it as the original director was pissing everyone off and in the midst of a #metoo scandal

I'm glad Olivia won I like her both as an actress and a person (interviews etc)

"Now there is a fab actor, did anyone see him on Graham Norton? Much better than Idris Elba in my opinion" who did you mean here?

Edith has dreadful dress sense so bad it's funny, but driving gloves?? Wtf! I'm no s&b alumni but geez!

Zawe Ashton's nearly as bad! Basically a pink sack! She has a gorgeous figure & striking features which that did no favours to at all!

And I'm sorry but if anyone looked "miss havisham" it was Rachel weisz!

I liked margots though I can see why others wouldn't.

Thought the duchess looked stunning, that was a gorgeous dress. I'm concerned she looks a little gaunt though.

Snugglepiggy · 11/02/2019 08:47

I went to bed half way through as finding it dull but just seen that Steve Coogan didn't win .I've never watched anything of his other than the film with Judi Dench -Philomena - and a bit of the Trip but thought his portrayal of Stan Laurel was sublime. So I'm disappointed.

HoraceCope · 11/02/2019 10:47

Just skipped through this, lucky me it seems i missed it last night, but whizzed through it.
saw the Favourite the other day and loved it, loved Bohemian Rhapsody too, so glad they won, must sit down and watch Roma.
Love Olivia Colman, as always, What a star!

hanahsaunt · 11/02/2019 11:03

Sandy Powell was the one for me - absolutely nailed it.

HoraceCope · 11/02/2019 11:47

Sandy Powell called the film bonkers Grin

Pupsiecola · 11/02/2019 17:50

For the life of me I cannot find how to watch it on catch up. Radio Times website says should be on catch-up on iPlayer, but all I can see is short highlights on BBC News catch up.

JustDanceAddict · 11/02/2019 18:33

Agree re Steve Coogan - he was amazing.

At4oclockthenormalworld · 11/02/2019 19:48

Wow just looked at Dexter Fletchers career of late ... pretty impressive, I had no idea how busy he'd been Confused. And it was Press Gang I was thinking of earlier. Doh.

Mookie81 · 11/02/2019 20:29

Graphista watch him in Moonlight, he's brilliant and deserved his Oscar.

HoraceCope · 11/02/2019 20:57

i found it eventually,

Graphista · 11/02/2019 21:02

I'm housebound and on a tight budget at the moment so ltd access to films, no DVD player either.

Though I am debating joining prime (for other reasons)

Mookie81 · 11/02/2019 21:13

Graphista those other reasons should include Outlander!

Mrscaindingle · 11/02/2019 21:24

I don't want Karen to get together with Adam, he's my least favourite character and she can do better.

And Fay Ripley is totally nailing this story line.

Cherrypie32 · 11/02/2019 21:44

Ha ha Mrs wrong thread but I totally agree.
Just came on here to say Olivia Coleman was singularly the worst thing about Les Mis. Don’t find she can adapt being her to a range of characters at all. But she’s clearly flavour of the month awards wise.

Mrscaindingle · 11/02/2019 21:48
Blush
Obloodyhell · 11/02/2019 21:49
