Get in with it! Been watching 20 minutes and nothing's happened.

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2019 22:35

What are you whoing at Barton !?

BartonHollow · 10/02/2019 22:35

And the BAFTA is awarded to :

2 hours of dogs barking, birds tweeting and long shots of hallways and crowds

BartonHollow · 10/02/2019 22:36

Who is better than Idris?

CoperCabana · 10/02/2019 22:37

Off to bed. Night all!

Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2019 22:37

Chiwetel, I presume!

I liked the dog bits...

Don't forget the extended willy sequence!

IamFrauBlucher · 10/02/2019 22:37

Awe I like Olivia. I still have all my CDs of Mitchell & Webb sketches and I loved her collaboration with those guys. She's gone from strength to strength. I'm looking forward to seeing her as the Queen

BartonHollow · 10/02/2019 22:38

Ahh Chiwetel vs Idris. I see.

For acting - Chiwetel
For Sex - Idris

Obvs

Janecon · 10/02/2019 22:38

I've seen a lot of the films but in my view, for sheer entertainment value, Bohemian Rhapsody knocked them all for six. I'd rather listen to the opinion of the public than these luvvies any day.

theliverpoolone · 10/02/2019 22:39

2Rebecca - glad I'm not the only one. I find all that 'oh gosh, isn't it big....' etc really irritating. Even just seeing the clips of The Favourite, I can only see her as Olivia Coleman, she seems the same in everything she does.

2rebecca · 10/02/2019 22:39

That looks weird. Can't decide if I like it or not

At4oclockthenormalworld · 10/02/2019 22:39

I luuuurve Cate Blanchett.

'Night Coper.

Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2019 22:40

It is entertaining , yes, but I felt uncomfortable about some of the narrative about homosexuality.... and , God, some of the acting was DIRE. I loved the last sequence but that was because it was liek reliving Live Aid!

CoolCarrie · 10/02/2019 22:40

Oh I like that dress Cate is wearing

BartonHollow · 10/02/2019 22:41

Honestly The Favourite is fantastic

Nicholas Hoult (the kid from About A Boy) has a supporting part and is a revelation and Olivia's performance is definitely nuanced and not Samey samey

At4oclockthenormalworld · 10/02/2019 22:41

Martin Scorsese is a bloody genius filmmaker

Janecon · 10/02/2019 22:42

@theliverpoolone I agree - her voice always is the same. I thought she was good in the Favourite but it was ridiculous that the other characters sounded posher than the Queen. She sounded just like she did in Broadchurch.

Igavebirthtoabanana · 10/02/2019 22:43

Grin

Couldn't have put it more succinctly Grin

BartonHollow · 10/02/2019 22:43

@Piggywaspushed

But I felt the Live Aid focus really rushed the third act of the film and squashed things together such as him finding a stable relationship and his ultimate passing.

I'd love to know what really went on behind the scenes though sounds dreadful chaos

2rebecca · 10/02/2019 22:43

Agree theliverpoolone. I first saw her playing a klutzy office worker in The Green Wing and she keeps playing that sort of character even in real life if that speech is her being natural. Who are the actors who can actually act and change their character?

At4oclockthenormalworld · 10/02/2019 22:51

Right I'm off to bed too, night night

Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2019 22:52

That was deliberate , I think barton and was what made the film shallow indeed but it was a great set piece. The two different directors really showed. The style suddenly changed halfway through the film.

DerelictWreck · 10/02/2019 22:52

Came on here and cant believe that none of you have discussed Edith Bowman's 'dress'. You're a disappointing bunch of vipers tonight! Are we really not going to talk about that train wreck??!

Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2019 22:53

I saw it in passing earlier. Extraordinary.

2rebecca · 10/02/2019 22:55

I had heard of Free Solo. I do want to watch that, and Colette.

BartonHollow · 10/02/2019 22:56

I did comment on another thread RE Bowmans dress that I can't believe anyone looked at that and thought

"Perfect For The BAFTAs"

So I have fulfilled my viper status and don't need to hand my credentials back!
