Hi all

An advert from Hulu has just popped up on my FB to say that a new season is coming soon. I don’t know when (and Channel 4 will probably show it a few weeks later than Hulu).

Who will be watching? I will but at the same time I’m hoping that this doesn’t become a Game of Thrones epic.

I don't think i can bear it but someone on here said it was much fast forwarded along the timeline so i am curious.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 04/02/2019 08:51

I will (and trying hard to avoid spoilers!)

I only hope nobody watching at the US pace will jump on the thread & shout about the great thing coming up in episode X.

CruCru · 04/02/2019 09:10

Yes, please can no one do this? Not even “OMG Episode 4!!!” It spoils the suspense.

www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a856797/handmaids-tale-season-3-release-date-trailer-cast-spoilers/ These people think it will be May in the UK.

The link contains some stuff about season 2 - only click if you’ve watched it already.

CruCru, could you ask MN to add NO SPOILERS to the title?

CruCru · 04/02/2019 10:44

Sure - although there may be a new or different thread by the time the show starts up again.

YES! I hate it when people are so desperate to make sure everyone knows they have seen it and already know.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 04/02/2019 11:45

I'm seriously considering avoiding all threads this time! Which would be a shame because the conversations are brilliant.

DerelictWreck · 04/02/2019 18:54

The first trailer was launched at the weekend, which might be why you saw the Hulu advert.

Alas, it's not out in the UK until the end of May, so almost 4 months still to wait!

hopeishere · 04/02/2019 19:49

Can we discuss the first advert??

PotOOOOOOOO · 05/02/2019 07:49

Can we also add a note telling that knobhead who spoilered the end ten minutes before it screened that she can stick it up her arse?

Ilovewillow · 05/02/2019 07:56

Ooh can't wait!!

CruCru · 05/02/2019 09:56

Sure, we can talk about the advert.

I wonder if this is the start of the fall of Gilead? The only thing is, the regime hasn’t been in power for very long (four years in season 2).

OP posts:
Njordsgrrrl · 05/02/2019 10:04

I thought that and then - I'd read there's 200 years from the start to the epilogue in the book. There's potentially ten seasons.

Maybe it's more on the resistance?

CruCru · 05/02/2019 10:24

The thing is, if they aren’t producing babies at any real rate, there won’t be enough people to keep Gilead going for 200 years.

RomanticFatigue · 05/02/2019 10:41

I'm going to have to rewatch the end of S2 in preparation. Shame it's not on till May though, that's ages away!

OnlyYellowRoses · 05/02/2019 10:43

Does anyone know where I can watch season 2? I don't have Sky and am desperate to catch up 😔

hopeishere · 05/02/2019 10:43

I see Josh from the West Wing is back. The makers have described him as an Oppenheimer character now seeing the horror of what he created. And how an international search starts for the baby.

Njordsgrrrl · 05/02/2019 10:57

Oh, I'd not thought that through about the population.

Also, was it mentioned on the last thread? But the babies we have seen born have tended to be female. So we could be seeing a next generation of handmaid's who have never known life before Gilead with the older generation of men and so on.

Like breeding slaves.

Disclaimer: just a theory.

Njordsgrrrl · 05/02/2019 10:59

Or even with no men once they get too old. Sperm banks wouldn't be approved of. I would actually love it if they realised they had been the agents of their own erasure.

problem1234567 · 05/02/2019 20:13

I understand it was promoted in one of the ad breaks at the Super Bowl which is where the trailer was shown.

CruCru · 05/02/2019 22:53

If it is mostly girls being born, the population will still be able to continue provided that there are still a few boys being produced. In fact that would result in greater population growth than a 50:50 ratio.

There would be the risk of inbreeding creeping in but that is a possibility anyway in a society where so few appear to be fertile.

Ooh I'll be watching. Hope it's not a long 'coming soon'!
