Just found it on Netflix and heard lots of people say they watch it.

Any good?

I cried at the end of series 2 and I'm so not a cryer Grin
Don't know whether it was because it was the end of series 2 or because it was so emotional!

I thought there was a bit too much about Philip in the second series but generally that season was great.

We are watching , just started season two, and loving it. A relative is one of the characters which makes it even more interesting.

It is brilliant, and I'm not a royalist at all.

I have to say I'm nervous about the next series. Clare Foy (sp?), Vanessa Kirby and Matt Smith are all SO outstandingly good, I can't quite imagine anyone following them. Particularly Matt Smith – I was never a fan before, but he's a revelation in this.

Another republican watching (have ceded in a sort of "know thine enemy" way and because I'm finding it really hard to find things I like on Netflix and am rewatching things I've already watched at least 100 times already).

I afraid I've never bought into this "benign queen" fallacy - look at who she married! And it was a choice not a case of basically an arranged marriage. A bombastic, bullying racist! What's that saying? "One is known by the company one keeps" even his pursuit of Elizabeth began when she was 13!!

So no I'm not buying the overly positive representations of them as albeit privileged largely harmless people.

The events are largely historically accurate, but I'm taking the characterisations with a very large pinch of salt.

I didnt get the impression it was showing then as harmless. More flawed human being, rather than divine creatures beyond all criticism. They showed the Queen as stubborn with regards to Margaret and a cold mother and they didn't shy away from the infidelity rumours about either of them.
