Surprised there's no thread on this. Did anyone watch it last night or has the series reached its natural end and is no longer attracting viewers?

Did your colleague die Mynamenotaccepted?
How utterly awful. Even if she survived it's utterly tragic. It's so upsetting this occurred as was normal for so many woman. Still occurs today - though add illegally obtained abortion pills from the internet to the instruments as ways they are now done.

Mynamenotaccepted · 25/02/2019 14:22

Yes RedForShort sadly she did and as as you say it goes on today .

redzebra10 · 25/02/2019 14:30

thanks soupdragon

Soubriquet · 25/02/2019 14:38

Yes. Shelagh found out she was pregnant with Teddy when she got back from South Africa when they went for that Christmas episode

FrauleinF · 25/02/2019 15:32

That conversation between Val and her man about what they'd both seen hit hard. You can't ban abortion, only safe abortion.

Hopefully one day soon every woman in the UK will have access to it.

user1457017537 · 25/02/2019 16:54

Hopefully one day abortion will not be needed at all.

lachenalia · 25/02/2019 19:57

Well predicted on the abortionist storyline MN . I've reached peak "teal" now , I can't take any more will someone please paint everything magnolia . Why don't the Turners two little girls ever speak , they are about 4 and surely the two of them would be chatting away all the time . I know the little girl they are fostering may not have had English as her first language but surely she would have picked up some by now .

lachenalia · 25/02/2019 19:58

Oh and brilliantly acted by Val and her Gran .

Pebble21uk · 25/02/2019 20:29

They'd have to pay the children more if they got them to speak!

ConfCall · 25/02/2019 21:10

The actors who played Val and Nan absolutely nailed it. Brilliant.

Would like Tim to have a story.

drspouse · 25/02/2019 21:28

Tim wants to be a doctor so maybe if it keeps going long enough?

Needafriend2019 · 25/02/2019 21:44

I'm sure Dr Turners real life wife is a screen writer or director or something like that on ctm so don't think he will be going anywhere soon.

ppeatfruit · 26/02/2019 08:49

Yes Thanks for your post nervousbreakdown very true.

Myname Sad Shock How terrible. I could never forget anything like that either.

HoraceCope · 26/02/2019 09:02

Thank goodness for free contraception

ppeatfruit · 26/02/2019 10:05

Horace It's just sad that that there are still little babies left in parks like last week.

@Myname

That is terribly sad and so young wasn't she . Awful.

RedForShort · 26/02/2019 14:10

No free contraception here. Abortion has only just become legal. Whilst I'm unikely to be faced with the decision of having to have an abortion, I was so emotional when the 8th amended was repealed. I have been affected by it and endured a very drawn out miscarriage at three months (and subjected to repeated internal scans) as they were unable to acertain if the foetus was viable so I couldn't have a D&C. Friends who 'travelled' could arrive back and be prosecuted for having had an abortion.

Don't forget there are women in the UK who don't have access to legal abortion.

ppeatfruit · 26/02/2019 14:32

That's unbelievable Red I'm speechless.

ChesterGreySideboard · 26/02/2019 14:56

Don't forget there are women in the UK who don't have access to legal abortion

^^ this 100 x this.

There are still women in the UK who have to travel FFS. Imagine being a frightened 16 year old or someone who has just had dreadful news about her baby and then having to travel a long distance to have an abortion. Shocking.

SoupDragon · 26/02/2019 14:59

Isn t there a protest about this today at Westminster?women with suitcases representing the number who have to travel to get an abortion.

ppeatfruit · 26/02/2019 15:20

Yes it was on the news.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/02/2019 18:41

Have any of you seen the film ? It's about abortion through the ages: 1952, 1974 and 1996 and stars Demi Moore and Cher. I saw it on TV many years ago and it has stayed with me.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 26/02/2019 18:56

Also thought the abortion storyline was superb, and so sad to read the stories on here.

BUT the Turners continue to drive me mad. And this week's 'Doctor Turner explains medicine' was ludicrous. A GP would not have given a toss about a bloke using a prostitute. I suspect they still don't. Certainly he wouldn't have sat down with him and counselled him through it. Just ridiculous, every minute of the storyline. And to have his wife knowing about 'the clap' but not knowing it was sexually transmitted. That was an unforgivable bit of expository dialogue that made no sense.

CurbsideProphet · 26/02/2019 20:29

I agree it didn't make sense that the wife would call it "the clap", but not know how it can be contracted...
