New thread to take us to Blackpool!

You really are determined to take offence TwitterQueen.

Feel free

Give me a kicking!

But do it quickly and get it over with. I have a rice cake to make for Nan's Night.

spreadingchestnuttree · 18/11/2018 08:11

I haven't read any of the previous Strictly threads but I've just read through the whole of this week's to see if anyone agreed with me on the following...

  • The back of Kate's dress was weird and horrible
  • Kevin and Stacey are doing it
  • Stacey reminded me of Kylie tonight
  • AJ is a bit creepy

Think I got a full house Grin

My favourites generally are Stacey, Graeme and Joe but Charles was very good this week too. Just can't get behind Ashley or Faye - I need more of a journey! Really enjoying this series though and glad for once there were no "joke" contestant.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/11/2018 08:28

Ranj was a bit of a joke one Chestnut . . . Grin

xsquared · 18/11/2018 08:47

I've asked this before but what makes people think that KFG and Stacey are doing it? Stacey has a boyfriend and I cannot see her fancying him.

bonfireheart · 18/11/2018 08:51

I think they have a lovely brother n sister vibe.

I do think the next eliminations will be in this order: Kate, Lauren, Graeme, Charles..

Watching Ashley jive again I felt like Pasha was dialling it in :/

xsquared · 18/11/2018 09:02

Bonfire, that's the order I'd like to see in terms of eliminations.

Like others said, Stacey being in the middle might be in trouble although the ties will help if she hadore votes than them.

AmericanPastoral · 18/11/2018 09:16

Thanks very much bonfire So interesting to see a list of the YouTube views. I wonder how last week's list corresponded to the outcome?

I also don't see why people think Stacey and Kevin are at it?

AmericanPastoral · 18/11/2018 09:38

Thanks very muchBlackamericano. Great analysis.

CaptainBrickbeard · 18/11/2018 10:18

Kevin and Stacey are very tactile on ITT/Claud 9 and they clearly have a great connection and same sense of humour so I see why people speculate, especially with Kevin being newly single. I don’t necessarily see it myself but I can see why people do.

I think Kevin looked very wistful whilst Karen was getting her scores. It must be difficult for them both to be working together on such an intense show whilst divorcing.

Ashley will definitely follow in Alexandra’s footsteps and be in every dance off once enough people are eliminated, but the judges will save her like they did with Alexandra as she’s better than everyone else. Again, I don’t think she can do anything right as far as public opinion goes - people ‘hate’ her ‘false modesty’ when she’s excited by her scores but if she didn’t look surprised then people would bitch about her being too arrogant and expecting a high score. Just like her pouring her grief into her contemporary dance draws accusations of her milking her tragedy for votes, but otherwise she’s accused of cold professionalism and not engaging emotionally. If she sad she finds a step or technique difficult then she’s pretending (never mind that Pasha gives her challenging content which will take an effort for her to master) but if she changed tack and did a VT where she said it was easy there would be howls of outrage. Anything she does on the show will be torn apart and she won’t get votes. But if Strictly did a series with no ringers (which they won’t!) then people would complain it was boring and that the standard was too low (which would be true).

I don’t want to see Joe swept to victory on the back of his YouTube following; that’s as unfair an advantage as a ton of dance training! I thought Joe McFadden beating better dancers last year was a victory of the mediocre and I don’t want to see it again. I find Stacey very full-on and a bit grating but I’d prefer her to win than Joe as I think they’ve been on a similar journey and both improved a lot but I think she has the edge. Her novelty pop salsa last night was a bit reminiscent of Debbie’s Spice Girl routine at Blackpool last year though, which did put her in the bottom two so you never know...

CaptainBrickbeard · 18/11/2018 10:20

Saying that about Stacey, I’ve just wondered if it would be possible for her and Charles to be in the bottom two which would be a shocker. I hope that definitely isn’t the case!

SoupDragon · 18/11/2018 10:30

Not just for Nans, no . . . but they are on the front line of wool-related activities

How old fashioned of you to think so.

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2018 10:44

Come on lovely SCD fans, we all have different experiences of life, some woolly and some not! Though it has become more fashionable to knit and crotchet now Grin I'm happy to say.

The Nans are great and we are all different too Grin Make and make do and mend is the new slogan!!!!! Stacey tells us!

HellenaHandbasket · 18/11/2018 10:46

I'm really pleased for Charles, he was genuinely thrilled with his marks. And he's always been marked pretty harshly so far

Cantdecidewhere · 18/11/2018 10:47

Loving all the strictly chat and videos of previous pro dances...Thank you!

I loved Charles last night.
Anyone spot Natalie in the audience, I loved her in the show.

Waiting for the inside goss from the 2 luckyvaudience members last night...c'mon and spill!!!

OutragedEtc · 18/11/2018 10:50

I don’t get the KFG/ Stacey at it thing either.

If anything, I sense a slight imbalance thing...like he’s been friendzoned Grin

All complete speculation of course.

OutragedEtc · 18/11/2018 10:51

Tut, too many ‘things’ ^^

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2018 11:01

I felt sorry for Lauren yesterday, it really wasn't her dance, AJ and her get on but not in THAT way. I think he respects her stamina but pushes her to hard.

OublietteBravo · 18/11/2018 11:43

I felt sorry for Lauren too. In fact I think it was pretty mean to give her AT at Blackpool. Especially as she hadn’t even done a ballroom tango.

AmericanPastoral · 18/11/2018 11:46

Captainbrickbeard I'm not a fan of Ashley but I think you've summarised beautifully how she's caught between a rock and a hard place with her reactions. I think Pasha is incredibly lucky to still be in the show. He can't tell a joke to save his life and his reactions to everything are so unnatural.

AmericanPastoral · 18/11/2018 11:49

I also can't wait to hear the insider view from those lucky enough to be at Blackpool particularly how the judges and Tess and Claudia come across. I've read many stories of Tess being very cold and Oh My Goodness Dame Darcey seems to be quite full of herself.

mydogisthebest · 18/11/2018 11:50

I thought it was really mean to give Lauren an AT. It's a difficult dance, she has no dance experience, she had shit music and no backing dancers to distract. To top it all I think she was undermarked.

It seems like maybe they wanted her bottom of the board. I so hope she wasn't in the dance off.

I know they probably all get to dance the AT but why not give it to Ashley for Blackpool?

ChoccyJules · 18/11/2018 12:02

I also don’t see KFG and Stacey together.

I think Lauren and AJ have more of an emotional bond, though it seems to be accepted (public opinion) knowledge that he’s gay.

CassandraCross · 18/11/2018 12:14

Totally agree with your post of 10.18 CaptainBrickbeard.

Also agree with BlackAmericano as to how much tied scores from the Judges skew the results when public votes are added in, remember the infamous Tom Chambers result? I don't know how it can be resolved but it should be as it can have a ridiculous impact in the latter stages of the competition.

The decision to give Lauren and AJ an Argentine Tango for Blackpool does seem an odd decision, if they wanted a truly wow AT that was not the couple to pick to do it.

Inkanta · 18/11/2018 12:37

Yes poor Lauren really had her work cut out with that A.T. The dance looked rushed like there were too many steps and no time to pause .. and real bad music.

Can't imagine them giving Graeme the A.T! He had a breeze with his easy dance. Not surprised he was grinning Smile

thighofrelief · 18/11/2018 12:58

Awww i love Pasha, i love the care he takes in lifts and how beautiful his hand movements are. I imagine him daintily lifting all 700 lbs of me,me gliding through the air as he smiles adoringly at me then placing me carefully on the ground like a delicate angel. Just choked a little on my pain au chocolat.
