New thread when you're ready..

OP posts:
TheDrsDocMartens · 06/11/2018 13:18

Jake Wood was one who got screwed over by a heavy EE schedule wasn’t he.

What is with the cricketers joining Strictly? There seems to have been loads of them

xsquared · 06/11/2018 13:27

5 cricketers in 16 series does not seem too excessive to me.

Miscible · 06/11/2018 13:43

It always amuses me when professionals with iffy partners start showing lots of flesh, like Natalie in that jive clip above. It's so blatantly obvious that they're trying to distract the judges from how crap their partners are in the dance in question. When Ola brought the body suit out or we got treated to Anton's chest, we knew their partners were in deep, deep trouble.

Ashley and Pasha: Couples’ Choice – Contemporary to Unsteady – Erich Lee Gravity Remix by X Ambassadors

Lauren and AJ: Viennese Waltz to You Are The Reason by Calum Scott and Leona Lewis

Stacey and Kevin: Waltz to Moon River by Audrey Hepburn

Faye and Giovanni: Jive to Reet Petite by Jackie Wilson

Kate and Aljaz: Quickstep to I Want You To Want Me by Letters To Cleo

Danny and Amy: Samba to Feels Like Home by Sigala, Fuse ODG, Sean Paul and Kent Jones

Charles and Karen: Charleston to No Diggity by Minimatic

Graeme and Oti: Salsa to Follow The Leader by Soca Boys

Joe and Dianne: Samba to MMMBop by Hanson

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/11/2018 14:59

I had hoped never to hear Mmmbop ever again. I can't imagine being murdered by the Strictly singers is going to improve it at all.

I don't think the Samba is going to be Danny's type of dance somehow, I hope he proves me wrong though.

I wish Ashley was doing street/commercial, I know that's what her background is so it would be a cake walk for her, but I find contemporary a bit annoying.

starkid · 06/11/2018 15:09

Looking forward to Faye's jive, I love that song.
Charleston to No Diggity though?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/11/2018 15:13

Yes, just going by the dance and song I already think Charles will be in the dance off.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 06/11/2018 16:19

Jake Wood was one who got screwed over by a heavy EE schedule wasn’t he

I'd be more inclined to say he got screwed over by being partnered with Janette. Once she's rolled out her trademark salsa routine, there's not much else she can teach them

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 06/11/2018 16:21

Graeme and Oti: Salsa to Follow The Leader by Soca Boys

This is going to be really really special, I can tell already!

kazzaD66 · 06/11/2018 16:38

Greece oh my goodness to quote Darcey I had obviously completely erased the horror of the Vaughanie jive from my memory, with good reason Grin

TheDrsDocMartens · 06/11/2018 16:58

I was thinking cricketers compared to other sports. One footballer? One Rugby? —that I remember—

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 06/11/2018 17:16

One footballer?
There's been Peter Schmeichel, John Barnes, Peter Shilton & Robbie Savage (off the top of my head, maybe one or two more)

Rugby: Matt Dawson, Martin Offiah, Kenny Logan, Gavin Henson, and Austin Healey that I can remember

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 06/11/2018 17:17

Oh, Ben Cohen as well (rugby)

kazzaD66 · 06/11/2018 17:18

I haven't watched from the very beginning but I think there's been at least two of each.

Rugby - Matt Dawson and Kenny Logen.
Football - Robbie Savage, John Barnes and the legend that is Peter Shilton.
Who have I missed? Hmm

iklboo · 06/11/2018 17:20

Gavin Henson as well for rugby

kazzaD66 · 06/11/2018 17:23

Thanks, we crossed! Can't believe I for Ben Cohen and Gavin and his double dipped pecs Grin Also, Austin Healy - he was before I started watching but his paso is the stuff of legends Wink

kazzaD66 · 06/11/2018 17:24

*forgot Ben, not for him!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/11/2018 17:31

I loved Austin. I still think he should have been in the final.

OzzyMadBat · 06/11/2018 17:33

Charles's music is a swing version

Miscible · 06/11/2018 17:47

Austin's jive is still one I seek out on YouTube when having a general Strictly nostalgia fix.

morningtoncrescent62 · 06/11/2018 17:57

I don't remember Michael Vaughan being on Strictly, so it must have been one of Brucie's last two series which I didn't watch because it was too cringey. He'd become desperately un-funny and I couldn't bear the 'doddery I am not' when he so obviously was. When I returned after his departure it was all themes, props and endless faffing abaht. Shock

Yes, I agree that Austin went far too soon. His paso was quite something if memory serves me right. One of my favourite jives is this one - from another contestant who left too soon. Natalie is uber-gorgeous in this.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 06/11/2018 18:22

More Sigala?! Isn't this about the 4th Sigala song this series?

A samba to MmmBop is less than appealing. I mean just why?!

I loved Natalie and Vaughny! Natalie was the best Grin

I wish I didn't feel this way but I've really gone off Strictly this series. Not really enjoying watching after such a positive start. Bit weird!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/11/2018 18:22

I have no memory of Micheal Vaughan at all, don't recognise his face or any of his dances from YouTube. But I definitely watched that whole series, it was the one the Louis Smith won and I remember the other competitors too.

Shirleyphallus · 06/11/2018 18:24

How on earth do I not remember Michael Vaughan either?!

I think maybe they snuck him in to Wiki after the event. Given so many of us can’t recall him.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 06/11/2018 18:32

I definitely remember him!

He stayed in until week 9 surprisingly. Likely down to Natalie fans and the "journey" narative.

stats!
