Hoping this gets posted in time - and that there is still plenty to say on the matter!

Yes! Link works, so even if no-one joins me I have learned a new skill.

Hooray for me!

Thank you Fuzzy

I feel a glow of quiet self-satisfaction.

yay!

FuzzyCustard · 01/11/2018 20:29

A good curry recipe is Hairy Bikers (diet) Chicken Bhuna. DH and I love this one (and neither of us is a particularly good cook)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 20:30

Now watch the whole thing peter out, and tumbleweed start to drift across the thread . . .

Mind you, we had Toad in the Hole with onion gravy for tea. Must be getting near winter for that sot of comfort food.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 01/11/2018 20:31

Fab! I found you all.

I may have to ask for another inheritance book to be taken into consideration. Pebble Mill.

FuzzyCustard · 01/11/2018 20:32

No no...I shall continue to talk about food until you are all bored silly.
I'm no cook, but I love eating.

Delia's cookery book is well used in this house.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 01/11/2018 20:32

Inherited cookery book obvs. Must learn to proof read posts.

WereWolfcub · 01/11/2018 20:32

Thanks for the new thread Schaden

FuzzyCustard · 01/11/2018 20:33

Pebble Mill? OOOOH, as in "Pebble Mill at One"? I used to watch that when my DDs were tiny. It was after lunch collapse on the sofa time.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 20:35

Fuzzy - The HB Diet Book is one of the many I have and do not look at - I'll have a go at it though, on your recommendation.

The Urban Rajah Curry Memoirs has fabulous recipes - there isn't a single one we haven't enjoyed. I particularly recommend . . . .

. . . . the Punjabi Hotpot . . .

. . . and the Jalfrezi . . .

but all are yummy!

Great minds! We had sausage and mash with Auntie Bessie's yorkshires and onion gravy.

I have all three hairy diet books. There are a few good recipes in each.

FuzzyCustard · 01/11/2018 20:39

I like reading cookery books but many are quite beyond me. And there are always several ingredients I do not have. even if the writer insists that all these recipes can be made from your basic store cupboard.
I think not. I have tomato soup, onions, a manky carrot (always just the one) and a supply of chocolate.

bookbook · 01/11/2018 20:39

Schaden Shock were you there ?????
I have Pebble Mill cook books - My absolute falling to bits books is Michael Smiths saucy cook book , used soo, so often - the best coronation chicken curry sauce
( I do have the cooking (?) Rev ones too Blush )
so I am showing you a couple of my lesser used books here . I have absolutely no idea why I have the Norwegian one !

To Be-Ro or not to Be-Ro . . . that is the question

I put my winter curtains up today too.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 20:40

You're welcome Wolf

I didn't know there was a Pebble Mill cookbook Rabbithole - what have I missed!?

I used to have a tiny paperback one by Tony Stoppani (remember him?) which had the best ever very quick sweet and sour chicken recipe, but our old cat pee'd on it, and it (along with the Good Housekeeping Quick Clever Party Book - also a brilliant book) was beyond saving.

In her defence, I will say that she was a very old cat, and poorly, and knew not what she did.

To Be-Ro or not to Be-Ro . . . that is the question
bookbook · 01/11/2018 20:42

oh Blush

FuzzyCustard · 01/11/2018 20:43

Pebble Mill at One used to have the Cooking Canon and Rabbi Lionel Blue. They made a marvellous chocolate saucy pud (foolproof and fabulous - I have the book) and my tiny daughter watched them make this and declared "it looks like cat sick". That one's in the family annals. It is called "Funny Vicar's Chocolate Pudding"

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 20:43

CONSTANCE SPRY - Bloody hellbook! I am more surprised at that than the Norwegian one (which I choose to assume is just 1,000 ways to pickle herring).

I haven't heard of Constance Spry for years! And yet at one time, she was THE cook!

I like the Hairy Bikers.

Never tried a recipe from their book though.
