Hoping this gets posted in time - and that there is still plenty to say on the matter!

I have taken a HUGE risk and ordered the only Pebble Mill cookbook I could see on Amazon that didn't seem to be exclusively fish-based (your herring influence again, book).

I swore on my obese cat's life that I would never buy another cookbook until I'd completed at least one recipe from each of the others . . . but even though Lionel Blue (I loved him) and the cooking canon weren't mentioned - just someone called Michael Smith - I've gone for it.

hah Schaden
not far wrong !- how do you feel about Cod tongue and Barley soup ?

But there again - horse hooves and afternoon savouries?

I have the Cordon Bleu and Constance Spry Entertaining Cook Book where the "Impromptu Dinner" is planned three days in advance.

But look at this beauty:

We shall need to see the evidence of your cooking from your new book. Or it didn't happen!

Maybe we ought to share favourite recipes here?

bookbook · 01/11/2018 20:55

Michael Smith was great - this is the one I use a lot
HERE
but you are obviously easily led ...Grin

VanillaSugary · 01/11/2018 20:56

I'm more interested in The Cocktail Party @bookbook

Chin Chin! 🍸

But be careful you don't fall into the barbecue pit Gremlins.

I know you're keen to win the GBBO next year, but you are unlikely to have to repeat that particular challenge.

If I were you, I'd practice something more basic - like slaughtering and baking a whole yak in a volcanic fissure. (They probably won't give you time to marinade it properly, so think of a few ideas for quick acting marinades - might I suggest injecting pineapple juice and hydrochloric acid directly into the flesh?) If the yak is your showstopper, I would keep the horns for decorative effect.

I wonder if any of the other MNer's have any ideas regarding what challenges may come up?

Fuzzy has a point, can we just have a baking/recipe/bake off thread?

SneakyGremlins · 01/11/2018 20:59

Great ideas, Schaden, but I'll use mango juice I think.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/11/2018 21:00

I'm baking marmite dog biscuits tomorrow.

Have they ever done that on GBBO? I'd love to see Paul try a dog biscuit.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 21:02

Ironically I used to have a copy of this Vanilla

The Auditory System at the Cocktail Party (Springer Handbook of Auditory Research)

which I gave away when I retired, and I now notice is for sale on Amazon for £119.99p

Sheeeeee-iiiit!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/11/2018 21:03

I'm sure they will go nicely with yak, like a yakky landscape or stuff.

bookbook · 01/11/2018 21:05

along with fermented yaks milk ...

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 21:06

I think Fuzzy's recipe thread is an excellent idea.

All of those cookbooks that only have one decent recipe in - well, rather than pay 20 quid to get the book to get the recipe, we can share them

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/11/2018 21:06

To dip the biscuits in. Like sludge.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 21:06

Did you know that yak's milk is PINK book?

Just a little interesting snippet for your delectation.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/11/2018 21:07

They will consume even more of the marmite biscuits. They are proper crack for dogs.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 21:07

Sludge is very popular with the judges. Gremlins will be a shoo-in!

(Shoe-in? Choux-in?)

They should too good for Paul Chardonnays.

Do you have a recipe for Rat Biscuits?

OP posts:
bookbook · 01/11/2018 21:09

good idea on the recipe thread - does it need to be in a different place though? I may never find it .
I can offer Claudia Rodens baklava recipe , which is amazing and easy
Nigel Slaters chicken in yoghurt and cardoman , which is utterly scrumptious, and you can make the day before
the best pannacotta recipe by Felicity Cloake

bookbook · 01/11/2018 21:10

Pink? oh dear, like strawberry flavour Nesquick milkshake? or is that

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 21:11

I will accept all your recipes book and will, as my offering, post the Urban Rajah ones if people would like them.

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/11/2018 21:12

I don't think it tastes like strawberry-flavoured Nesquick book - nature wouldn't be so cruel.
