my dm's newspaper apparently told people to vote Katya out , which is ridiculous, from a newspaper! judgement should be on dancing

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 15/10/2018 06:37

Well, now the obviously weak ones have gone, this year is interesting.

Vick’s dance on Saturday was pretty, and she could have a “journey”, but I find her instantly forgettable. Lauren just hasn’t lived up to the promise she showed in the first week, and Charles is so vain, he probably thinks this thread is about him. Kate is lovely and mid-table and will get to Blackpool and then fade away. No idea about Danny. I thought I’d like his dancing more than I do.

I can’t warm to Ashley at all. She is so good but the routines don’t wow me. I think she might have been better with a less “cuddly” pro - someone like Giovanni or Gorka has a bit more of an edge to them (although I accept Gorka is too short for her). I actually much prefer Faye, in Monkseal’s battle of rhe ringers, and thought her Grease quickstep was my favourite routine this year so far.

Joe could easily win this thing but I would love to see him do a properly elegant, traditional ballroom just to see if he can or not. On Saturday, I was watching Stacey and realised that this could be Kevin’s year, finally, after all those years of being rhe bridesmaid. I just can’t stand her voice, so that would kill me a little bit.

I know there’s a lot of Seann loathing, and rightly so in many ways. But I am glad he went through yesterday. I find the idea that he should be judged by some kind of moral standard rather than his dancing problematic when he is taking part in a dancing competition.

Grin

MozzieMagnet · 15/10/2018 07:14

Alexander Emm cats dodo
Forgot to thank you for the dance info. Thank you Flowers
What's the difference between contemporary and lyrical? The latter tells a story but other can just be shapes?

runsmidgeOMG · 15/10/2018 07:18

Hi guys probably very late to the party but can I join your strictly threads ? I'm a joe fan here, I recons he'll be the underdog....

SoupDragon · 15/10/2018 07:31

I think Charles is not particularly liked as he doesn’t really do humility & comes across as a bit arrogant

Thing is, those that do humility get accused of being false.

MozzieMagnet · 15/10/2018 07:35

Glitterball everyone's welcome on these threads, we are a warm quiche (clique) Glitterball Wink Brew Cake
If Joe fans are voting en masse, he might not ever hit bottom two?
Then he stands a chance of winning it.
If they aren't block voting at the later stages then judges will chuck him under the bus. But he's surely a shoo-in for Blackpool?

TheSassyAssassin · 15/10/2018 07:42

Hoping next Saturday is gonna be better than this last one, though visiting friends so may not get to see it... .... then it's Halloween week which I always enjoy actually! What week is Blackpool? About week 8?

MozzieMagnet · 15/10/2018 07:43

Chucky can't really win, whatever he does, you're right.
He was sold as the male crumpet from day one.
#Babywarz or #Familyman got nicked by Kate and Graeme
#Badboy/Loverat got nicked by Lee and now (n) for what good it does 'em
(n) initially had the bumbling comedy
Ranj has Kidsvote and gayvote to a certain degree #Yassqueen
Charles was the totty even though he's taken.
I hope he has a breakthrough dance next week.

runsmidgeOMG · 15/10/2018 07:45

Yaaay !!! StarStarGlitterballGlitterball
I hadn't actually realised how famous joe was, aside from him performing really well he seems to have the teenagers behind him and possibly their parents- was at work the other day and saw him plastered all over teenage magazines (some issues back in 2016!)
Who do people normally vote for ? With the three available votes on bbc website. Do you pick three faves ? Or three for same person ? I normally pick three if I'm watching it live Smile

MozzieMagnet · 15/10/2018 07:52

Blackpool is November 17th! Blush there is a reason I know this due to my nerdiness tis 4 weeks from the final.

Okay - so my waltz track is 1,000 times

not sure if the time signature is right But the lyrics refer to 10th November which is when I would insist on dancing it OCD which led me to asking DH if doing a waltz the week before would jeopardise you getting to Blackpool!!! Grin My husband puts up with an awful lot for 3 months of the year
MozzieMagnet · 15/10/2018 07:58

Not sure (I can't vote): most vote their favourite three? Maybe multiple votes if one is in danger? But when I was in the UK it was like Eurovision or BB with kids demanding I vote more than once for the same number!

Volant · 15/10/2018 07:59

the Strictly bosses are clearly desperate to keep them in for a bit longer for the increased viewing figures

With all due respect, that's ridiculous. Strictly gets fantastic viewing figures in its own right, it's hardly going to stand or fall by whether it pulls in a few thousand more for one or two particular episodes.

runsmidgeOMG · 15/10/2018 08:12

Dammit !! I'm away Blackpool weekend... it's my friends birthday trip to Amsterdam... anyone know if strictlys shown in the Netherlands ? 😂😂

runsmidgeOMG · 15/10/2018 08:12

@MozzieMagnet do you watch on iplayer ?

TheSassyAssassin · 15/10/2018 08:16

Ta Mozzie! Just checked kitchen calendar and we're here on the 17th so can settle in with comfort food, heating on and hopefully a bit of ballroom bliss Smile

covetingthepreciousthings · 15/10/2018 08:20

@MozzieMagnet just watched the Russian DOI Holocaust routine, not sure we're ready for that on strictly! It's certainly different!

placemats · 15/10/2018 08:35

Charles is so vain, he probably thinks this thread is about him

Brilliant Grin.

I'm so looking forward to contemporary next week. I think there will be a lot of drunk aunt/uncle at the wedding dances.

I'm reminded of Lotus Flower, Radiohead

placemats · 15/10/2018 08:38

And in the interest of balance,

Clawdy · 15/10/2018 09:07

Ridiculous newspaper headline this morning saying the judges are "furious" that Seann has not been voted out! They were over marking last night to keep him in!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 15/10/2018 09:46

Gawd, barefoot nightie dances.

This is all getting very ITV now. Claud and Tess, you’ve had your day. It’s time to bring on a Dimbleby.

Samcro · 15/10/2018 09:48

its such a non story the papers will just keep making stuff up now. the public voted for them. so I really hope its over now.
im not looking forward to this new dancing.

runsmidgeOMG · 15/10/2018 09:57

I'm intrigued about the new dancing it better be good Grin

FuzzyCustard · 15/10/2018 09:58

Totally agree catfleas.

Alternatively we could have our beloved David Attenborough commenting on the behaviour of the contestants.

Theromanempire · 15/10/2018 11:11

Am I the only one who is hoping that Martin Kemp's appearance on Saturday night is a taster for him to appear in a future series - that would be my absolute dream Grin Or Shirlie would do so he could be in the audience every week.
