After the last one. I thought that was enough. I can't sit through another load of crap like that.
But now it is upon us I'm wavering.

Don't know what to do.

Catspyjamazzzz · 30/09/2018 21:03

I feel the same. I bet we watch it and moan all the way through about how boring it is.
If it’s the same battle with Neagan again I am done though.

gaggiagirl · 30/09/2018 21:06

We've had this debate at work. We are all sick to death of it. I think I just can't be bothered with the same old shit. Plus Rick is being killed off this season, Maggie too. It can't go on forever. The show runners are flogging a dead horse.
Having said all that we will all probably still watch. And bitch and moan all the way through.

shirleyschmidt · 30/09/2018 22:10

Also in that boat! Had decided not to but actually the news of certain people leaving has me wondering if it'll breathe new life into the show. TWD has badly neglected any character development - compared to when Negan was gonna bash some heads in and I couldn't decide who the show could manage without, I'm now indifferent to them all (even Daryl!). They also need to put the Negan conflict to an end and move things on, get some pace back into the episodes. Oh and some proper dialogue! So yeah - we'll probably tune in but if it's as slow as the last one will switch off pretty quickly I think!🤦🏼‍♀️

titsbumfannythelot · 30/09/2018 22:48

When does it start?

gaggiagirl · 30/09/2018 23:24

Next week I think...Monday next.

NoShitHemlock · 30/09/2018 23:40

I have to watch it - how else will I be sure that I am fully prepared for when the zombie apocalypse finally comes?!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 30/09/2018 23:44

I gave up after episode 2 last season, couldn't put myself through any more of it!

FannyFifer · 30/09/2018 23:47

I was a massive Walking dead fan, but dear god the last two seasons have been really bad.
They keep doing the same stupid shit over & over, I was actually at the stage of hoping Negan wld kill them all painfully.
I don't know if I can watch new season.

Effendi · 01/10/2018 19:56

I'm a steadfast TWD fan but I agree, last two series were hard work.
Also gutted to read about Rick and Maggie, didn't know that. Shock

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2018 15:09

I will watch it or the past 8yrs have meant nothing

But

Has to end soon. They can’t be friends with negan

And then meet new people and fight them

Wonder how big JUDITH will be now

A teenager 😂😂😂😂

The last episode I watched was when Carl /Coral died. That was a step too far for me. He represented the future. Plus it was very unfair on the young actor and I think Andrew Lincoln thought that too, which I understand is one of his reasons for quitting. Plus spending more time with his family I guess. And I suppose he can sense it's lots its momentum.

Doesn't sound like I missed much the rest of last series. Bloody Negan's still around? Yawn. It's a real shame - it used to be a brilliant show. Kept watching (through my fingers) hoping for a happy ending, but it's never happening, is it?

TwllBach · 03/10/2018 00:23

I also stopped watching around the time Carl died, and I don’t have sky so I sort of felt like it wasn’t worth the effort/nowtv subscription! It’s such a shame as right up until Megan bashed their heads in it was one of the best series I’ve ever watched. I’d still rewatch the first 7, but I just can’t be arsed with 8. Even the end of 7 was boring me.

MinorRSole · 03/10/2018 00:23

I don't think I will, it's all been downhill for me since they killed abe. Shame as I've not missed an episode but actually can't even remember how last season ended.

PawneeParksDept · 03/10/2018 00:25

I quit around the time Lori died or just after, it had become tedious and repetitive THEN and one day I was just like why do you even watch this? You hate it and only will it to end the entire way

Overrated beyond S1 and S2 alone is one of the worst seasons of TV of anything ever (the barn one)

gaggiagirl · 03/10/2018 09:11

Yes I think chandler Riggs who played coral was treated badly by the producers. So was Maggie when she asked for a pay rise.

shinook123 · 03/10/2018 12:56

I've been a huge fan since day one and I'll stick with it to the end. It's sad to see how this great show has gone so downhill(thanks to Scott Gimple).
Andrew Lincoln leaving is the biggest blow to the show.I can't even imagine it without Rick.Chandler Riggs not having his contract renewed was a massive mistake and everyone thinks this was the real reason Andrew Lincoln has left.
On the other hand now Scott Gimple isn't in charge anymore the show can only be better at least than the last two seasons.Gimple has screwed the show and character development so badly. The new showrunner cant possibly fk up as much as Gimple and Season 9 is actually looking really promising.
I'm really excited to see Ryan Hurst join the cast in season 9.Plus I'm looking forward to seeing the flashback scene with Shane.
And we finally get The Whisperers.(Don't know how they'll do this storyline without Carl).
They always should have stuck to the comics.

gaggiagirl · 03/10/2018 21:25

shinkook excellent post. You have piqued my interest again! I didn't know that about Gimple.

GandalfTheGoat · 03/10/2018 21:28

If it's true that Maggie's leaving then I hope she at least has the baby first - longest pregnancy in tv history.

SleepingBooty · 03/10/2018 21:31

I'm looking forward to it. They're doing a time jump like FTWD. Rick was never my favourite character so I'm interested how he leaves.

MsWinters · 03/10/2018 21:32

I feel the same. I've spent way too many hours watching it to give up now - no matter how crap it's become. And last couple of seasons have been really poor. Looking forward to Samantha Morton though. And hope Rick leaves without dying.

beepbeeprichie · 03/10/2018 22:26

I hate Scott Gimple. But there’s a new show runner and Samantha Morton (amazing actress and generally all round amazing woman) is in it so I will persevere. BUT I think the producers only have one more chance with the fans. The last few seasons have been slow, full of plot holes (if anyone can actually be bothered paying attention and wading through a million ad breaks), ridiculous character personality changes and general toss. Carl getting killed off was outrageous. I am one of the comic geeks that’s believes he was to be the future and indeed perhaps the story was being told from his pov looking back. I don’t know where it goes. I’m not sure The Whisperers can save it. Negan started well but that degenerated into a pile of shite (car chase! Hanging around in that old building!) so who knows.
I don’t have enough hobbies or friends to find something better to do on a Monday night Grin

beepbeeprichie · 03/10/2018 22:31

One more point- a lot of fan sites were commenting that by killing off Carl and (probably) Rick, they are significantly reducing the rewatch value of the show. Fans won’t pick the show up again if they know that their favourite has gone or watch reruns if they feel cheated. Apparently.

fromdespairto · 03/10/2018 22:48

The episode where Glenn died was genuinely one of the best hours of television I've ever seen. Since then it has been dire. Slow, monotonous. Every week I say I'm not watching it again, and then the next week I curse myself for tuning in. I have no plans to watch it this season (I mean ffs they've liked Carl!) however I know I may find it hard to resist the lure.

It will probably still be drivel though.

shallen · 03/10/2018 23:00

I feel the same, but feel like I have invested so much time in it that I can't leave it now!

Annoyingly (especially as it was posted by a walking dead official page on instagram) I have seen a massive spoiler which has really pissed me off...... not because of what happens but because they gave it away. I won't say any more.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 03/10/2018 23:01

I have invested waaaaay too much of my life to stop now.

I've heard it's an 18m time jump and Maggie has a baby boy named after her late dad.

WRT Andrew Lincoln leaving, I heard a different story. Carl was killed off because Andrew told them he was going, not the other way round. They figured there was no way Rick would leave if Carl was still around so are giving him the chance to leave and not get killed off then return in a few yrs if it's still going.
The reason Andrew Lincoln is going is that until now his kids have spent 8m in Atlanta in school and 4 m in the uk. But they are now in high school and exams are looming and they need to stay in the uk and Andrew Lincoln doesn't want to be without the family for that long, understandably. His exit was discussed and agreed a few yrs ago I believe.
