No I had a black top (black at the back, big cream flowers on at the front) cream trousers, and I have let myself go grey now (big decision) so this was my coming out party Grin

HappydaysArehere · 01/09/2018 08:43

TwitterQueen those chocolate crackle biscuits are they made with cornflakes, syrup, butter and chocolate? If so you have awaken lovely memories of childhood as dm used to make these when sweets were on ration. Of course the chocolate was cocoa powder then and the butter was replaced with margarine. Forget the Bake Off those sweets were nectar to our deprived taste buds. Smile

cariadlet · 01/09/2018 09:02

@Rousette - spotted you! But only because I'm watching extra slice now instead of watching it live so I caught up with this thread first and could look out for somebody in a black top next to the lady in a hijab.

Enjoying extra slice, but an hour is definitely too long and I agree with Gersemi that just having 5 comedians is really unbalanced. It was much better when the panel was made up of 2 comedians and a professional baker or chef and when Tom was an occasional member of the panel rather than a regular.

iklboo · 01/09/2018 09:22

Rewatched at spotted you Rousette!

PollyFlinderz · 01/09/2018 09:44

Ive done it as well and its taken a year so far but 6 months from now It will be complete. Colour wise Ive turned out to be a platinum blonde which has been a great surprise as it did look very much like a dull grey at the start of it all. Not that I should have been surprised really because I was a 'white blonde' as a child. My hairdresser has been fantastic and you have to look really closely to see that the bottom two inches of my hair have been matched up to the rest of it.

Are you happy with how your hair has grown in?

AppleKatie · 01/09/2018 09:53

Ah bugger for some reason I was looking for a lady in a grey top with her daughter so that’d be why I couldn’t see you 🙈 doh!

JustDanceAddict · 01/09/2018 10:35

I watched a bit of it and thought of you Rousette, wondering if you were on. Loved the Muslim lady!

Roussette · 01/09/2018 11:48

The woman in the hijab was hilarious, and her and I chatted lots, I thought we were going to get in trouble at one point! She had sort of macaroons all round the bottom of her cake, and had eaten them all by the end Grin

PollyFlinderz, it's been a while now and I've mixed feelings on my hair. I wish it would go whiter to be honest as it's a bit of something and nothing! Every now and again I catch a glimpse of myself somewhere and think... hell who is that 60 something woman with grey hair? I still feel young!

I'm through the transition stage with the hair now, I had a brill hairdresser who highlighted ash colours and he was great. Polly your hair sounds fab... I'd love to go pearly platinum blonde. I'm white in places but muddy brown the rest!

I've had my 15 minutes of fame now haha.

Livedandlearned2 · 01/09/2018 11:58

My dad says the same, he looks at photos he's in and wonders who that old man is, he's 73, I'd have thought he would feel like an adult by then Grin. I love that we feel the same no matter how old we are, I still think I'm 19...

Roussette · 01/09/2018 12:19

My dad says the same Grin Grin I'm not quite his age yet ! But I agree with him, I feel very juvenile at times and it takes my DCs to keep me in order, they are always saying to me 'Mum, I'm warning you, you better behave!' Grin

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 01/09/2018 22:41

Rewatched Bake Off with my DCs tonight. I think it was really unfair to send Imelda home. She did really well in round one and was judged harshly in the Wagon wheel challenge - Antony’s were awful and plenty of the others were a bit odd - eg Luke and moustache man. And while the brandy snap death mask may have been innovative, it was a bit of a mess and must have tasted super sweet, even my sweet toothed DD would find brandy snap and butter icing a bit much. She seems to have actual baking skill, whereas some of the others didn’t seem anywhere near as experienced. She was robbed!

Taffeta · 02/09/2018 08:53

I agree MyRelationship - am I the only person that thinks that biscuit construction isn’t really baking as well? Making biscuits to me is borderline baking, but spending four hours sticking them together is just like watching Minecraft.

Biscuit week as week one seems off. I think the whole construction bit of BakeOff is ridiculous. I’d far rather see tests of their palate and creativity in other ways - eg love it when they did the historical pies years ago.

HannahnotAgnes · 02/09/2018 13:49

I really enjoyed the first episode & like all the contestants so far except Ruby as she seems quite arrogant & indignant that anyone could criticise her.

Wish Imelda hadn't gone & like the idea of no one going week 1 & 2 people going week 2.

Glad I didn't see the spoiler - how annoying!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/09/2018 17:49
