The Twitterati have turned against him.

Disclaimer:
From what I can see...

LarryFreakinStylinson · 28/07/2018 12:26

I was hugely team Alex at the beginning of LI. Now I just want him out. I’d like for Alexandra to win on her own. She’s classy AF, stunning, uses the word discombobulated and has brought back the underrated insult ‘shame on you’ Alex3 for the win!!

PippaPepperpot · 28/07/2018 12:32

It wouldn't be the first time a non-romantic couple had reached the final. Lauren and Josh in season 1 were in the final and were quite close to winning if I remember. They were really good friends, though.

ManicUnicorn · 28/07/2018 12:34

The Twitteratti are so awful, the stuff they're saying about Laura is really nasty. Yet only a few weeks ago they were saying how sad they were about Sophie Gradon's death. The really are so thick and lacking in self awareness.

LarryFreakinStylinson · 28/07/2018 12:35

Lauren and Josh did beat proper couples but they were a genuine friendship as opposed to a failed relationship.

Bluntness100 · 28/07/2018 12:42

I think Alex has probably disgusted a lot of folks with his behaviour, which may cause him a problem in his quest for a tv career, as he may not be in there long enough to redeem himself and get the public back on side.

He should have left ages ago when he was popular. The moment he started messing with Alexandra's feelings ie going cold on her when Laura 2 went in, it all started to go down hill for him, and then he just went on to make it worse. He still is with all the "I really tried" nonsense.

I think he'd get more respect if he either was just honest, and said yeah I shouldn't have got back with her, my heart wasn't in it, or didn't bullshit so much about how hard he was trying,

DuggeeHugg · 28/07/2018 12:45

I genuinely don’t see what Alex has done wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️

unique1986 · 28/07/2018 13:03

It's odd Alex snogged Alexandra several times.
He must have hated it so much Shock

Watchingtheworldgoby · 28/07/2018 13:14

I think people are disappointed with Alex and with themselves as they feel he deceived everyone. It seems he was playing a big game and the whole point of LI is to be in a couple or at least opento being in a couple. The producers must have known and they are adamant to keep him in whatever their reasoning is. Other people played the game too but people realised it sooner. I think regarding Alex, people feel really taken in by him as most of us thought he was genuine. Messing with someone’s feelings is manipulative and cruel and people now see their Mr Nice Guy as that.

DuggeeHugg · 28/07/2018 13:18

I buy Alex completely. I don’t think he set out to hurt anyone and I don’t think he was playing a game.

I think he’s just a bit socially awkward and was out of his depth

raspberrysplit · 28/07/2018 13:25

I don’t really get what Alex did wrong either. He wasn’t doing a Wes telling Alexandra he was falling for her, he kept trying to slow things down she just wouldn’t listen and kept getting annoyed that he wasn’t more into her, and kept going on about meeting the parents etc.

I think if someone came on here saying “i’ve been dating someone two weeks, I like spending time with them and want to get to know them, but they’re getting serious too fast for me, they keep putting pressure on me to discuss a future together and want me to meet all their family. I’ve told them repeatedly that i’m not ready for that and that i’m not comfortable with the pressure, and want us to take our time to get to know each other properly but they keep doing it and they keep getting annoyed with me that I think we should just be having fun and getting to know each other at this stage. AIBU?”, everyone would cry red flag and tell him to run.

DuggeeHugg · 28/07/2018 13:31

Agreed.

Watchingtheworldgoby · 28/07/2018 13:33

You arecomparing normal dating intbe real world with a tv programme aimed at coupling people who are living together twenty four hours a day. The entire point of the programme is to get together. If one doesn’t like someone, they tell them and move on to the next one. Alex didn’t do that.

raspberrysplit · 28/07/2018 13:50

Except he did tell her and that’s what’s got everybody annoyed. He has kept saying he wants to keep it casual, they could have very easily seen out the end of the series as a casual couple, it’s on her if she didn’t want to play the game that way to then say that it doesn’t work for her and go and graft someone else, he’s just seen that she can’t handle being casual and broken up with her to avoid hurting her further

Bluntness100 · 28/07/2018 13:52

If we make it more what actually happened though, so for exampke I'd someone came on here and said

I met someone and started a relationship, they were going to fast, and I met someone else I preferred, so went a bit cold on them and they felt it, when they raised it with me, I ended it. Then I went back to them. They weren't interested but I worked hard and turned it round. But now I'm not interested again and it's only been a few days, and have told them so. Sadly I went out on a date and told them I saw a future, but then I ended it two hours later. They are really annoyed with me and think I've behaved badly and led them on, do you think I have?

The answer would be yes.

raspberrysplit · 28/07/2018 14:08

My shift is starting, we’ll have to agree to disagree for now

RoseWhiteTips · 28/07/2018 14:38

However it is spun, Alex1’s behaviour towards Alexandra has been shameful - as she herself has memorably said. And she should know.

It’s almost as if he has lost the plot - or maybe the sun has gone to his head.
How else is it possible to understand why someone who had so much good hearted support from the public, for so long, has done a complete about turn in his behaviour?

RoseWhiteTips · 28/07/2018 14:50

It irked me too to hear the way he conducted the “chat” with Alexandra. He was doing that schoolmasterly thing which involved nippy interjections along the lines of ‘You’re not listening’ etc. The tone is all wrong.

Instead of being the bigger person and showing some grace via a decent apology, he harps on about how he felt and why he was trying etc etc. I am tired of it.

It is to Alexandra’s credit, that she didn’t get up and leave. Why on earth should anyone have to listen to that backtracking and those feeble excuses?

And this sort of treatment of women negates any of the positive behaviour with his housemates, particularly the boys.

People rarely fail to disappoint.

BlancheM · 28/07/2018 14:59

Jus caught up with last night's.
Meg and Wes' date was like one of those old fashioned film scenes in a car where you're meant to believe its moving and the scenery whizzes by in the background.
Meg ended up growing on me. She's every bit as dorky or geeky as she said she is, I find her endearing. Wish she would have more self esteem though.
Josh is disgusting. He's punching way waaay above his weight with Kaz but seems to think he's a step up. Glad his attempt at humour went down like a lead balloon as it was at Kaz' expense.
Alex should consider himself one of the luckiest men alive with Alexandra actually being interested in him. Every time he speaks or does anything, I wonder who the fuck he thinks he is. His whole identity revolves around his job and he thinks he's oh so important because of it. Actually, superior. If you take that away he's just a lumbering lobster with a chip on his shell shoulder!

TiredPony · 28/07/2018 15:15

Am I missing something with Alex x 2? He had a choice of recoupling with Alexandra or coupling up with Stephanie. Laura 2 who was his preferred choice had already been coupled up with Jack 2.
So he chose Alexandra by pretending to like her again. Isn't that the problem? Not the fact that he's not interested now - he never really was.

Watchingtheworldgoby · 28/07/2018 15:45

I’ve beem on the receiving end of ‘casual’ otherwise called I was being stringed along. It was cold and calleous and the more I was pushed away, the more clingy I got. When I eventually realised what was happening and walked away, I receivedd declarations and apologies. They were not genuine either. I was merely an ego boost until someone better came along. It is a terribly cruel way to treat anyone.

Bluntness100 · 28/07/2018 16:52

Pony yes that's the issue, Alexandra said he couldn't even bring himself to hold her hand he was that disinterested.

It is cruel. He just went on that date, and as she said, told her about their future, then walked straight out and binned her.

He's really lucky she seems a quiet polite type not liable to kicking off, I'd have made Rosie look calm with my reaction if someone treated me like he treated her..

coragreta · 28/07/2018 16:55

What Alex is done is bad but i don't think he's playing a game. If he was surely he would have pretended to like Alex for the remaining 4 days. How hard could that be? They probably would have come second to Jani if he had. I think he genuinely wanted to be fair to her before they got out.

Bluntness100 · 28/07/2018 16:59

If he was surely he would have pretended to like Alex for the remaining 4 days. How hard could that be

Clearly for him, for whatever reason, too hard. He turned his back on her in bed when he could, he couldn't bring himself to hold her hand, so although he clearly gave it a shot at acting physically attracted a couple of times, he clearly couldn't physically stomach it any longer.
