I think the point is that some feel that the venom of the criticism outweighs the crime.

He's done what many others have done, he's receiving some pretty vile abuse that I don't remember being levelled at anyone else.

I think it’s unacceptable to refer to a school in that way, just as I think it is unacceptable to use a term like “ the underclass”.
Such usage diminishes us all.

I don't think he's receiving abuse at all.

He lied. There can be no discussion about that fact. Sure some people think it's ok, others not, but he lied to Alex.
He may be gay, saying someone is gay is not abusive, it's like saying rhey are blonde or brunette. It's no different to saying Laura is actually a red head. If you think he is gay you think he is gay. So what.
He's behaved badly and humiliated Alexandra to get a career in tv. Not abuse, subjective, but not abuse. Vile behaviour but not vile to call it out.
Gaslighting, he's making out it's the women's fault. He's trying really hard. It's not his fault. No woman wants him and the only one that does he doesn't want.
Condescending, "oh you're so cute" to Ellie.

None of it is vile abuse. It's simply a view on his behaviour. Just because you may disagree and think his behaviour is fine, doesn't make it vile abuse.

Calling him names, say, an "ugly cunt" or a "fucking prick" , that would be vile abuse. Saying he's been dishonest, condescending, whatever isn't.

Bluntness you - and others here - have called him ‘lobster’ and commented on his perceived sexuality. That has been vile. Worse than anything you seem to think he has done.

It was fun before it became Lord of the Flies. I’m done here.

Anyone who gives a shit about what others think of them would probably not go on Love Island.

I would be extremely disappointed if my son ever brings home someone like Megan, sorry but no.

To be fair to Megan she is clearly getting worried about her past life. I am sure there are lovers galore waiting to 'sell' their stories to the media.

The thing a lot of young people now (I have two teens) think they can do what they like, wear what they like etc and it will never come back to haunt them, there will be no regrets but somehow I don't think Megan now has that view.

And hand on heart. Would anyone be estatic if your son came back home with Megan? Honestly?

Crikey! I’ve just been catching up on the thread and feel like I’ve accidentally stumbled into an AIBU 😂
It’s about 150 degrees here today and as humid as a tropical butterfly house. I’ve had to lock myself in the bathroom to get away from give myself a 5 minute break from the children and catch up with first look!

Ok, accompanied by the sound of small people banging on the bathroom door (yes children your father is also in the house!) I’ve just watched first look. Brutal getting the couples to vote another couple out of the house. I guess the majority will vote for Alex and Alex which will be hard for them all as they both seem quite popular individuals in the villa- just not as a couple!

To be fair he was called lobster before anyone knew he had a skin condition. Everyone just thought he was shit at using sun tan lotion. I don't think we need to keep defending that.

I also see no issue in commenting on his sexuality. As said it's no different to commenting on natural hair colour and I dislike intently when people make out it's some form of slur to say someone may be gay. It's not. The man seems totally disinterested in the opposite sex. So what if he's gay or bi.

As said, as for Megan I'd like to think I'd look at who she was, not what she was and understand why my child is in love, as opposed to judging her on her history. The same if my child came home with a doctor, I would not judge them based on that, but who they are. Because they could be a cold and manipulative person and rhe ex stripper be a very kind loving person.

This thread and the regular posters now established on it have reached a new level of nastiness.

The whole Love Island thread was fun at the beginning but just vile now.

About time Alex and Alexandra went. Recent behaviour on Alex1’s part means that he should not get to the Final of such a competition. Wes and Josh are more deserving and that is saying something. Obviously Jack would be ahead of those two but still.

Alex and Alexandra don't stand a chance, surely? If the other islanders have to vote, good friends or not, they're hardly going to choose a couple who've just called it a day... again.
I never thought we'd see either josh or Megan in the final. Josh because everyone turned on him so soundly after he messed Georgia about (as much as she did then turn into the most annoying person ever) and Megan because of her shenanigans with the whole 'gimme a kiss' saga and the rest

Blue, take a step back. It's just a thread about a reality program with some robust discussion and differences of opinions.

Right from the start those opinions have been strong, from the things that were said about Ellie, Georgia, through to Megan, wes, Adam, Rosie, Laura, Laura, Stephanie, jack, jack, Dani and now Alex. Some of the stuff said about Georgia was awful and someone actually called her the c word on here.

It's not personal as it's simply a difference of views. We are all watching rhe same tv program and all coming away with something different.

Depending on how you feel about that particular islander impacts your reaction to the views expressed, but it's just views on folks in a reality show, none of us know them and when it's over next week we will find something else to talk about.

Chill. The thread is more interesting than the program. Because quite frankly that got a bit predicatable jn the last few days.

And yes, I'd assume it needs to be Alex and Alex who they vote out...unless they vote tactically.,,,,

The only logical outcome tonight is Alex and Alex going. I think they'll choose Laura and Paul for their vote, so they'll be announced as the bottom 2.

Or it goes to public vote out of bottom 2, and they'll go start of Sunday then we'll see parents going in.

Has anyone not seen love island series 1? I was thinking of watching it when this series finished but it won’t be the same without a thread!

I’m not sure why I get any lobster is seen as so insulting, are we the only family who has a member who always gets referred to as a lobster or tomato as soon as they have been in the sun? Not really the same as the horrid comments about people’s bodies. I hope he doesn’t get a tv career out of this, he is wooden and lacks charisma but wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a slot on a This Morning type show
