Here we go again

OP posts:
Bizarretortoise · 26/07/2018 10:10

Dani did well when she pulled Jack up on working parents. She was spot on there!

Bluntness100 · 26/07/2018 10:25

I think Alex should have performed a c section at this stage, he may not be lead, but it would be unusual if he hadn't. He's a junior doctor on rotation.

ElspethFlashman · 26/07/2018 11:00

Yeah but she's gonna find herself in a Louise Redknapp situation, you mark my words. There'll always be a good reason for her to "delay" going back to work if you're married to a traditionalist like Jack.

I wonder if Dani had a Nanny growing up? Probably not, as her Mum seems to be a pretty traditional type herself.

Sharpcattlegridheavyhat · 26/07/2018 11:30

So everyone hates Dr Alex? I think he’s funny and a good friend to everyone. He’s not been that awful has he? Not compared to the others! I really like him. Am I the only one? (Next post will just say “yes”)

JustDanceAddict · 26/07/2018 11:41

He makes me cringe. I don’t dislike him but don’t find him attractive at all.
Wonder if he’s performed a c/s on a mumsnetter?!?

cathyandclare · 26/07/2018 11:45

I like Dr Alex, it's not a very popular opinion on this thread though. He also makes me cringe frequently, but that's part of his charm!

bobsandvagene · 26/07/2018 11:48

I just assumed a c/s would be something only a qualified surgeon would perform? And Alex isn't a qualified surgeon? I just don't understand how dr training works lol

bobsandvagene · 26/07/2018 11:50

Also when doctors are still being trained to do c-sections does it require special permission from the patient? In the same way a woman needs to give permission for medical students to be present etc

cathyandclare · 26/07/2018 11:55

No, he's a doctor, all patients are cared for by junior doctors under the close supervision of a consultant and other senior staff. If any surgeon in training did perform a section, it would be under the close supervision of a surgeon that with their hands very close by, to prevent problems. In my experience, it's more case of allowing a junior to do little bits here and there and building up skills and confidence.

bobsandvagene · 26/07/2018 12:18

Oh okay but I'm guessing he won't have performed more complex operations and surgery?
How many different departments will he rotate round? He obviously does A&E and obs/gynae but mentioned he'd never done peadiatrics

ElspethFlashman · 26/07/2018 12:21

He'll definitely have to do time on the general wards, surely. Lots of geriatrics in those. But I'm not sure if he can have a preference or if it's randomly assigned.

He has a long road ahead of him still.

Bluntness100 · 26/07/2018 12:34

He's 27 so he's quite far down his training, he is a doctor, just a junior one. It's likely he's fully qualified based on his age, just on rotations. He will have started his training eight years ago if not nine.

With doctors it's different, if you're admitted to hospital or see one, they don't shake your hand and explain to you what stage they are at. They will just see you as a doctor. You tend to be told only if they are a consultant etc.

unique1986 · 26/07/2018 12:47

What did Dani saying regarding parenting plast night.?

Also how cringe did the close up shots of Alexandra and Alex etc on their OTT dates. Wonder how many takes that took.

When do the parents go in ? Danny Dyer is currently in Disney Florida

unique1986 · 26/07/2018 12:48

And from the little bits I saw last night of Alex in Doctor mode, made me want to smash my t v up.

bobsandvagene · 26/07/2018 12:57

I wasn't keen on Alex in dr mode either, I just get the vibe that when he does work on labour wards he's one of those patronising HCPs who looks down on the women in his care and has an air of arrogance about him. I may be totally wrong but he has seemed so patronising and condescending when chatting with women in the villa that I wonder what he's like medically.

Does anyone think there's any chance of a couple other than Jani winning? I just think it's guaranteed they will win which is quite boring!

800msprint · 26/07/2018 13:18

I can't stand Alex and agree with the below. I'm also annoyed at the format - why don't they say vote for LEAST favourite couple as the newbies stand no chance otherwise plus it means boring old Josh and Wes and Meghan stay yawn yawn

ElspethFlashman · 26/07/2018 13:21

Oh I think that's unfair. He is kind, we've seen that. I'm sure he's kind to patients too.

RoseWhiteTips · 26/07/2018 13:29

Lol. I certainly won’t be watching tonight. Fgs. He is a crashing bore and I am fed up of the way the focus is hardly off him. He is not interesting enough to justify a fraction of that time.

mnahmnah · 26/07/2018 13:29

Dr Alex has been a great friend, he’s been fun and witty, he’s come out of his shell more and more. He’s just awkward with women. Perfectly likeable otherwise I think

RoseWhiteTips · 26/07/2018 13:30

He is not the only one who is “kind”. What sort of defence is that?

RoseWhiteTips · 26/07/2018 13:31

The programme is not called Kindness Island.😂

RoseWhiteTips · 26/07/2018 13:34

It will be dull if Jani win. Which they will.

RoseWhiteTips · 26/07/2018 13:35

Better than the ghastly Joshyyyy and Kazzzzz though. Ugh

KnobJockey · 26/07/2018 13:39

Anyone watched first look yet? Doesn't look like Alex squared are making it to the final together.

bobsandvagene · 26/07/2018 13:44

Just watched first look, think the dates will be boring. But seems like Alex is really not interested in Alexandra. I feel for her because I do think her feelings are genuine.
