I think it's very different as an adult to win money and decide not to work. To being someone who has never worked because their family is wealthy.

His grandfather was clearly a grafter. Starting a business from scratch and building it up is no easy task.

And he has a grandson who has had the best education and never worked a day in his life and has no ambition other than to be a reality tv star and live off his grandfathers money,

I'm never going to be impressed with that.

unique1986 · 16/07/2018 10:31

Yeh I respect rich people that do not give their kids money past 21 say.
Other than rent free/food etc

unique1986 · 16/07/2018 10:35

Other wise they could end up drug addict alcoholic party hard and die young.

Babysharkdoodoodoo · 16/07/2018 10:39

Have a look at Charlie's Insta, he has some life. Literally just travels to exotic places on private jets constantly.

Babysharkdoodoodoo · 16/07/2018 10:41

Living in the villa was probably a big come down for him! Grin

Cara Delevingne mega rich family.
But she has been lucky to earn money millions herself.

unique1986 · 16/07/2018 10:45

terrible actress but its who know/who you are

unique1986 · 16/07/2018 10:45

least she works for it.

MissDollyMix · 16/07/2018 10:57

Just watching through some clips from last night. My highlight has to be Megan questioning (in her most annoying voice) "How can we be annoying? What do I do that's so annoying?" Grin

unique1986 · 16/07/2018 11:14

Blimey if I has to pick two people to win now, Id go for Megan and not sure what guy.,

unique1986 · 16/07/2018 11:14

based on value for money/entertainment,

unique1986 · 16/07/2018 11:15

I just never liked Wes much.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 16/07/2018 11:46

I find it interesting how we all see thing differently when all watching the same interactions.

When Charlie was telling Jack about the 400million, I don't think he made it seem like it was his achievement at all. He said it was his grandfather's company with 2 others and that the 400million was split, some to shareholders then between the 3 children.

I think Charlie was alright, Ellie brought his prospects down

Hangingaroundtheportal · 16/07/2018 11:50

Yes I agree that Charlie could do something productive with his life. All that money, he could at least start his own business, or deal in property or something.

I follow Deliciously Ella, and sometimes I am a bit Hmm at all her stressing about her business and building it up, opening new shops etc as its highly likely that she has an endless supply of money to ensure that she can keep things afloat even if times get hard, and she is not coming from the same place that most business owners are.
But
Despite her family's millions she has decided to do something herself, not just rely on them or becoming a 'model', and she works really hard on everything she has achieved.

Most people would give their right arm for the money that Charlie has access to, so that they could do something productive with it.

Secretsquirrel101 · 16/07/2018 11:51

I agree minnies he pointed out that it was his grandfathers and that it was split and that it's not his etc. I personally wouldn't find it attractive that he didn't work but I'm also not surprised that he doesn't. As someone said upthread, most on winning the lottery would quit their jobs!

Hangingaroundtheportal · 16/07/2018 11:53

Yes, he didn't make it sound like it was his achievement. He was also clear that his grandad did not get all 400 million, but that was still the figure that got back to Ellie.

Did anyone see apparently on his Instagram a couple of years ago, there was a picture of him and his Nan dancing together, and he wrote the caption 'Nan and I doing bits' 😂

He might want to change that caption when he gets out!

BinkyTheBlinky · 16/07/2018 11:56

Meh. Up to him really, isn’t it?

CardinalCat · 16/07/2018 12:01

The private equity firm who bought Brakes went on to sell it for over 5x what they paid for it, as p/e houses do. £2.2bn makes the £430m sound paltry by comparison! Also, the £430m was shared among a number of family members. It makes it sound like Charlie's dad got the whole lot. I think he got about £85m. So basically, half what the UK's biggest ever lottery winners got. His dad is basically half a lottery winner Grin. I jest- it's obviously a huge amount of money, but I get the impression that Charlie likes to tell people about what it sold for rather than what net sum actually (after tax and professional fees) landed in his daddy's bank account.

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2018 12:02

I'm sure Charlie will work eventually, he's probably just out of university and is loaded so why would he? He's enjoying the high life before any responsibilities come, travelling seems like the best thing to do without children, post university/school, when your a frikin millionaire!

CardinalCat · 16/07/2018 12:02

oh secret, did he point that out?! I obviously missed that bit. Maybe I take it back a bit then. We don't know what kind of charity work he might do in between polo matches and trips to Monaco.

Bluntness100 · 16/07/2018 12:03

I don't think it was his dad, I think I was his grandad,

And yes Charlie is saying whole amount not what his grandad took from the sale.

However due to scale, his grandfather would already have been very wealthy due to the profit they would have taken from operating the business.

I've no idea what his father does, or how many kids his grandfather had, or how his grandfather handled the money,

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2018 12:04

Charlie also made it very clear his father and family did not get all the 400 million, and it was shared among the shareholders and other family as well

Theknacktoflying · 16/07/2018 12:06

Just shows you how thick and impressionable Jack is ... he’s like a magpie ...
