Looks like it’s all going to kick off tonight.

I think I would change my name and emigrate if Megan was my daughter!

As for the Dyers, they are as common as muck, money or no. Remember all the drama with the mother and father a few years ago before they got married and he was allegedly putting it about. I think we all be sick to the back teeth of the Jack and Dani show when they get out, even more so than the others. Her accent is bloody awful.

SoftBallSophie · 07/07/2018 07:46

Ellie is a nasty piece of work.

It's been confirmed by a few housemates how she gossips and talks behind people's backs being very unkind.

She was out of order and owes Georgia an apology.

She needs to go, we all love a bit of drama, but don't think viewers want to watch continual hate spewing out from one mean little bitch.

TheOnlyAletheia · 07/07/2018 07:48

Charlie went to Millfield and doesn’t work, living off the fortune Dad and family made through Brakes catering.

That accent is probably mockneying - it’s unusual to get through a public school education without losing an accent or at least having it modified. But accents do change dependent on who you’re talking to. He needs to have a lengthy chat to Alex 😆

Do the islanders know each other’s backgrounds?

TheOnlyAletheia · 07/07/2018 07:50

X posted with@Zampa - totally overinvested here too 🙂🙂

Article in the Mirror about Megan's Dad here

Seems he's quite a serious businessman, art lover etc

I do feel a bit sorry for Megan now. She's an awful person and has done it all to herself with her vacuous ability to change her mind like the weather, but can't imagine coming out to find out your family are ashamed of you.

RainySeptember · 07/07/2018 08:06

Oh god I'm down the rabbit hole now, one article leads to another..

Seems Grace's family are irritated by her conversation with Alex in which she said she's not close to them. She runs her business with her brother and her mum has been publicly supporting her. Article in the Sun

Bizarretortoise · 07/07/2018 08:08

Aletheia They must talk about their backgrounds to each other, surely? It can’t just be what we see on the tv.
Re Megan - I do feel for her dad, but if rumour is also to be believed, he’s been her enabler, paying for whatever she wants. Bit less spoiling and she may not have this awful sense of entitlement.
It’s one thing for Ellie to get angry, and try to protect Laura, but the words she used are unacceptable in every way. Even if it was heat of the moment, it tells you everything you need to know about her. Vile language. The C word, directed at a woman, is never acceptable.
The girls in there are a mess, collectively. Disappointed in that.

Well, apparently Megan's dad paid for most of her surgeries, so in many ways he created a monster. I'm not saying she's a monster, it's just an appropriate saying in this instance. It's not like she really needed it.

But seriously, what sort of parent funds that level of plastic surgery on someone so young. "Yes, that's right love, you are hideous and need to change your entire face and body". To not stand in her way is one thing, but to bankroll it?!

RainySeptember · 07/07/2018 08:12

Alex's parents have also said that they wish he wasn't on the show, and are only watching out of loyalty - a bank manager and a policeman. They said he'd never watched it and didn't apply, but was contacted by producers. Makes you wonder why 60,000 people bothered applying!

Article here but it's the Mail

RainySeptember · 07/07/2018 08:13

Oh, and has taken unpaid leave from his job and delayed buying his first flat to do so.

ThunderInMyHeart · 07/07/2018 08:53

Hmmm. I went to the same school as Charlie. Nobody sounds like him there, so that's weird.

No sympathy from me for Megan's dad. He raised her. He is Frankenstein!

MrsElijahMikaelson · 07/07/2018 08:58

I echo what Rainy said.

Laura has conducted herself incredibly well in spite of some shitty behaviour towards her.

Look at how she handled getting pied off compared to Georgia. Yes Georgia is young but it doesn't give her a free pass to kiss the guy who her friend is seeing and then bang on about Loyalty the way that she does.

I love Dani upto this point, she's defended Georgia though she wasn't even there. It would be very different if someone tried it with her Jack.

Bekabeech · 07/07/2018 09:00

@NeverTalkToStrangers - a father like that : Donald Trump.

Common at my Comprehensive not too far from Loughton, but where Loughton was seen as "Posh", people were proud of being common. Although when we had a trainee teacher with a much thicker East End accent I remember one girl commenting after a lesson "ain't she common". (I was always accused of speaking "Posh".)

lilypotter88 · 07/07/2018 09:11

Cringed so hard at the challenge 😂

SoftBallSophie · 07/07/2018 09:14

Meghan was a pretty (but plain) girl before all the surgeries, nothing wrong by with her at all.

Why would a parent fork put thousands to pay for all that surgery....butt lift & breast implants etc. at such a young age?

It's so wrong, she should've rather had counselling to help with her body dysmorphia. I think she's a vulnerable and sad young lady.

She is clueless and obviously has huge issues, I am not fond of her or her behaviour, but it concerns me all the hate aimed at her on twitter etc. She obviously has little self worth or strength and I really hope she gets the support she needs on the outside.....

Because I don't think a parent who pays for all that necessary surgery would be the best source of strength for her.

^sorry I am judging

SoftBallSophie · 07/07/2018 09:15

*unnecessary

Missbrick1 · 07/07/2018 09:27

I do have some issues with plastic surgery when it comes to cases like Megan. When you have someone like her or Kylie Jenner I do think it’s scary that someone wants to change themselves that much & at such a young age. She clearly needs to work on what’s inside, & where does it stop, what will she look like at 40? I know it’s not meant for younger viewers but I do think it’s damaging for them the person with the “surgical features” is held up as the best looking, what’s that teaching the younger generations?

SM2132 · 07/07/2018 09:28

Megan's dad is fit! I really like Laura now, she is the one I would most likely be friends with in real life. She seems mature, yes she got pissed off at Georgia but so would I! Imo, Georgia wanted to stay with Josh to win the show (not saying she didn't like him) and now that's not happening she is trying to get as much airtime as possible. Also, I think she is confusing the word loyal with honest! Not that she is honest...but I think that is what she means when she says loyal!

soupforbrains · 07/07/2018 09:30

I went to a similar but different school to the one Charlie went to.

It's not unusual for people to develop a range of accents and adapt to the people they're with. When he's with other old school friends or very wealthy he probably sounds a lot more hoorah Henry. But his family will certainly not speak that same way and so him home/natural accent is bound to be a bit more London. That combined with the people he is with in there will mean his accent ends up where it is.

I do it too. When I went to university I was torn apart for being/speaking posh and developed a flexible accent. I know I vary it now depending on the company I'm with as sometimes I hear 'other' accents coming out of my mouth.

On a different note i quite like Charlie but we've not seen much of him. I always loved Alex but was having a bit of a dip on him but his actions and words last night have redeemed him. I used to like Ellie but we got a first glimpse of how nasty she can turn when Alex didn't just accept her dumping and walk away so I've been waiting to see her true person for a while. She acts like she's sweetness and light but is actually extremely bitchy and catty, and vicious when things don't go her way.

I still like Georgia, she may have done something wrong but it wasn't actually a big deal and she doesn't deserve the level of shit she's getting. Laura acted fantastically with the whole Megan thing and was phenomenally signified and composed I just think that she needs to have a word with herself now and calm down because it is entirely down to her that this whole thing with Georgia has been blown out of proportion.

Also, Jack2 deliberately muddied te waters with it all. He could have just said we had a peck saying hello and a peck saying goodbye. Done. I feel like he was trying to bait Laura into a reaction because he wasn't sure how she feels about him and wanted to see if she'd be jealous.

Missbrick1 · 07/07/2018 09:31

Just googled Megan’s dad, you can see the resemblance to him in some of her before pics.

I agree that Laura comes off to me as the most normal, maybe it is an age thing. I think Laura would have believed she would make great friends on the show, I would have thought that (naive maybe) whereas I think the majority of the girls are more focused on the fame.

G needs to stop with her babe, ain’t & I’m real.

HollyGibney · 07/07/2018 09:32

I really like Danny Dyer. I don't get the hate for him. He obvs hasn't spent any time on the MN Boards so doesn't know how to conduct himself The MN Way. I think it's pretty nasty to refer to him and his family as "horribly common", disgusting snobbery in fact. He's made some shit mistakes as have many middle class DH's on these boards, it's just that he's famous so it all gets played out in the gutter press. They seem a very close knit family and staunchly loyal to one another, which is a lovely way to be, speaking as a person who comes from a family that never has a good word to say about each other. He's easy to sneer at it's true, you'd never believe he was descended from royalty would you Grin

SoftBallSophie · 07/07/2018 09:38

I agree Georgia made a mistake, I think she had a bit of prosecco in her after a difficult couple of days, misread Jacks flirting and compliments went in fur a double kiss (a peck) it was awkward but harmless.

I think Jack2 was massively shit stirring telling Laura, it was nothing even worth mentioning. And Laura massively overreacted by saying anything. Those two blew it completely out of proportion and I think Laura's insecurities and neediness will tear its head now again.

Georgia has to pick someone for the date and everyone was in couples, she clearly responded better to Sam, and the date with jack wasn't a big deal, certainly not the 'boyfriend stealing' attempted snogging fantasy that Laura and jack are fabricating (airtime?)

Bekabeech · 07/07/2018 09:40

I also think a lot of the ways we and the islanders react to the islanders goes back to school dynamics.
Georgia was obviously a leader in a popular group at school. Lovely and loyal to her friends, nice enough to others especially those in trouble. But totally oblivious to how some people really feel about her.
Meghan was one of those much further down the pecking order. A "wallpaper" type, not picked on necessarily but also not noticed. Very jealous of the Georgia types. Hence the change and need to make Men notice her and the jealousy of Georgia.
Samira was in a similar group to Meghan (and race could be a factor). Hence their friendship.
Wes is the kind of guy Meghan wanted to attract at school. Wouldn't have noticed her their.
Ellie is another alpha female, whose nose is out of joint that not everyone loves her. She has also just lost her ally Adam. I think she is more mean girl than Georgia.
Dani is the surprise alpha on the island - which comes from settled status and celeb Dad. Of course she is being cautious she knows her behaviour has the greatest potential to scupper her future career. ( which I hope she does well as we have a lack of working class actors nowadays).

Missbrick1 · 07/07/2018 10:07

Good post Bekabeech

RainySeptember · 07/07/2018 10:12

I think Jack2 is blameless. He came back and told Laura the full truth before someone else did, and stuck to his story.

I also think you've got to pretzel yourself a bit to blame Laura. She asked Georgia how the date went and gave her an opportunity to say something about the kids. When she didn't say anything, Laura asked her about it and Georgia lied.

So, young or not, Georgia played it all wrong and has been caught out. I can't see how anyone can make excuses for the person lying and seek to blame the person being lied to or the person being lied about.
