I don't know if Raahh is around to start a new thread and I couldn't post on the last one because it's full! Hope you all find this!

That Miranda thing was so funny. Wasn't she pretending to be Goran at one stage?! I just remember a bit where she crashed to the ground and Tim was kneeling over her going "Goran! Are you ok Goran?!" Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 06/07/2018 22:28

Agree, magi, almost word for word.

PrivateParkin · 06/07/2018 22:37

magi I do agree with a lot of that about Serena, and in particular I'm in awe at how she can play to such a high standard so relatively soon after having a difficult birth/section. But there are a lot (well - a handful) of mums on the tour who weren't - or didn't seem to have been - given the same as her when they came back. Now someone has to be a trailblazer and naturally it's Serena, who is a great champion and has a v high profile who's led the way because of her standing in the game. But it would be better if others got that too.

Eg (Raahh will probably know) Kim Clijsters, ok she hadn't won as much as Serena but was still pretty high profile, when came back, afaik she wasn't given tournament seedings, etc.

But I also heard that the WTA players either voted or were polled or something, and the majority said they didn't think players returning from mat leave should have any adjustments made for them!! The mind boggles.

Raahh there is a lovely photo doing the rounds on twitter of Delpo with your fave Stefan Edberg Smile taken today

Raahh · 06/07/2018 22:56

private ooh , I will look out for that .

Staying out of the Serena thing. I don't agree with the seeding. No, Kim didn't get any kind of preferential treatment. She had mentioned it a few times.
I like Kim.

PrivateParkin · 07/07/2018 00:47

It is soooo humid here and I cannot sleep! So instead I'm studying the singles draws and trying to predict who will go through in each round. Argh!

Looking forward to tomorrow's matches. I see they kindly scheduled Kyle so he wouldn't clash with the England game. Zverev-Gulbis should be good as well.

fizzy have a great holiday. Hope you manage to catch some tennis as well Smile

Raahh · 07/07/2018 09:24

Rafa up first - which from a football family harmony point of view is good (so long as he gets on with itGrin). It will be hot enough for him then too.

I do like Alex de Minaur though- think he has a good future. But I'm hoping that future is not the second week of this Wimbledon. Grin

Private I was in the garden with my dog at 1am, he was hot and bothered, and I couldn't sleep Grin.

Raahh · 07/07/2018 09:26

And Zverev-Gulbis could be intriguing- Sascha has a bit of a hot head on him some times, and of course Gulbis can be fiery. A 5 set contest won't bother him- but another one may make Zverev wilt.

whatnextfred · 07/07/2018 09:38

Did anyone else read / hear that Monfils has said he won't play if he reached the final on Sunday if France are in the World Cup final ?

PrivateParkin · 07/07/2018 09:55

I could actually believe that of Monfils!! All along I've been thinking, why should Wimbledon change the time of the final, fans of both will just have to choose what they watch. I hadn't thought of the actual players wanting to watch the world cup final!

PrivateParkin · 07/07/2018 09:57

Have a fab day on Centre what next

magimedi · 07/07/2018 10:01

So hot here I was up at 5.30 & got all chores done by 7am. Unheard of!

Private - What about the footy players who want to watch the Wimbledon final? Grin

Looking forward to seeing DelPo - his last match was amazing.

(and I loves him!)

Raahh · 07/07/2018 10:10

magi I'm looking forward to Delpo too.

Too much on today!

whatnextfred · 07/07/2018 10:10

Thanks Private. My sister cried at breakfast as she's so overwhelmed at the thoughts of the day ahead Grin

Raahh · 07/07/2018 10:11

whatnext that's lovely! Have a great day- wear suncream- or a big hat!

PrivateParkin · 07/07/2018 10:12

magi Grin good point - I wonder if there are many of them?!

Raahh · 07/07/2018 10:30

It is Rafa's gf's birthday today. So, Happy birthday Maria. Another reason for him to get his match over with quickly, so they can go off to party, if she's here. Grin

Raahh · 07/07/2018 11:45

Paire's beard is quite magnificent. And although I am supporting Juan, I do think that it may be a tricky match for him. Paire has improved a lot this year. However, Benoit's leg is heavily strapped today.

ferrier · 07/07/2018 11:47

Monfils doesn't deserve to win another match for making that comment.

Nice little quiz here for FBers:

Raahh · 07/07/2018 12:00

Van Uytvanck has started her match well, the female 'giant killers' seem to be better at backing up their efforts than the male ones do.

Raahh · 07/07/2018 12:05

And the Juan is broken back.

Raahh · 07/07/2018 12:10

Ooh- that's a result for Gilles Simon- 6-1 in his first set. Ebden was definitely the more 'in form ' player coming into it.

Lots going on at the moment (before I settle into to the Nadal match at 1!Grin)

Raahh · 07/07/2018 12:23
Grin

Paire telling Juan to challenge Grin.

Raahh · 07/07/2018 13:01

And Van Uytvanck has won. Which is nice.

Juan was struggling a bit, but has pulled it back.

and now we have lots of sporty people on CC.

Raahh · 07/07/2018 13:04
