Didn't want to watch, but I caught the last few minutes while flicking about in the ad break to A Few Good Men. Freaky, nasty film @shivers@

foxinsocks · 21/05/2007 19:21

lol sue

it was horrible! Edward Woodward looked so young in it!

i farking love The Wicker Man. got it on dvd. can't stand the remake though - why do they do that? you can't remake a classic!

SueBaroo · 21/05/2007 19:29

gave me panic attacks. Last time I go camping on remote islands with a giant man shaped tent, I can tell you...

PersonalClown · 21/05/2007 19:33

What? I missed it?
I really want to see this film. Everyone I know says it is great and I keep missing it.

foxinsocks · 21/05/2007 19:36

lol sue

some of the Britt Ekland nude scenes were quite something else - I can imagine in 1973, it caused a bit of a stir!

(I was also thinking, WHAT is wrong with you man - go and sort her out!)

Not Britt, she refused to do them so they used a body double and filmed them without Britt's knowledge.

madamez · 21/05/2007 20:07

Hehe, one of my fave films. Which reminds me, must be time for a haircut as I am morphing into Lord SUmmerisle yet again.

foxinsocks · 21/05/2007 20:08

really?!

ackshirley, I can't blame her.

I never thought he would be burned at the end .

yes seen it loads but can still watch again and again. lord summerisle, creepy. also the women dancing around in the garden wore bodysuits as it was blinkin' freezing .

filthymindedvixen · 21/05/2007 20:10

It's one of my all time favourites.
Don't get me started on the crappy Nicholas Cage remake though...

it is creepy

got me thinking - I haven't seen such a creepy film in years and I do love a good creepy film.

there are 2 versions of that film. That appeared to be the 'American' cut (for US audiences) as there was a segment cut out which involved a young teenage boy being sent up to Britt Eckland for a bit of fumpy pumpy with a haunting little folk song from the musicians downstairs. And Lord Summerisle rambles on about snails mating.. But it was deemed to shocking to suggest Willow might have sex with a young teenage boy, so it's cut!

Anoraky fact! Allegedly, noone really knows who 'Magnet' (the band credited on the titles for performing the songs) is!

southeastastra · 21/05/2007 20:19

my dp spoilt the corn rigs song by singing oil rigs over it

foxinsocks · 21/05/2007 20:27

ooh didn't know that fmv. The version on itv definitely didn't have that bit in it (unsurprisingly I suppose).

lol at your dh sea. How annoying - bet you can't hear it now without thinking about oil rigs!

i've seen both versions, the bit about the snails shagging is a bit weird to say the least. a friend of mine wrte a book on the wicker man 'Inside the wicker man', i did some reserach for him so am thanked fulsomely. [proud] it's a cracking book, really funny. it was all filmed in the cold so the bucolic scenes with the cart and the apple blossom was all faked and technicians were running behind the camera to drag the 'blossom' off the trees and tape it to the ones that the cart was about to get to. was once invited to dinner with ingrid pitt but was gutted as couldn't attend.

foxinsocks · 21/05/2007 20:35

how hysterical about the blossom

there's something charming about low budget films, isn't there

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 21/05/2007 20:36

I forgot how dumb and overrated it was.

DarrellRivers · 21/05/2007 20:37

creepy creepy film
good to know the re-make is not much cop so won't get it out

southeastastra · 21/05/2007 20:38

oh JESUS CHRIST!

DarrellRivers · 21/05/2007 20:38

was he in it too?
i missed him

southeastastra · 21/05/2007 20:40

sorry i came over all edward woodward then

DarrellRivers · 21/05/2007 20:56

i get you now

Bouquetsofdynomite · 21/05/2007 21:00

Gently gently gently Jonnie, gently Jonnie my dear... alltogether now!
Luuurve the Wicker Man, refuse to watch the Nicolas Cage one.
If you take the Ds out of Edward Woodward you get Ewar Woowar.
