He vows to find out who killed his wife and regain his children who live with their aunt (dead wives sister) who thinks he did murder her sister

Am I mistaken or did the judge say he'd been tried 3 times for the murder? Why was he acquitted without any new evidence?

Wingedharpy · 16/05/2018 00:20

I'm enjoying it and can actually keep up with what's going on which makes a change.
My theory, based on nothing at all is the dead woman was murdered by her sister in a fit of rage.
Dead woman had a fling with sister's husband and got pregnant as a result.
Dead woman had a termination of pregnancy via dodgy Gynaecologist.
Sister found out about the affair.
Sister went nuts -" that should have been my baby "etc., and killed her by accident.
Brother-in-law helped sister dispose of the body using his butterfly knots etc.
They blame it on the husband and lie about him abusing his wife.

Otherwise, why did sister lie about the cause of their infertility? - she said it was her husband that couldn't have children and he said it was her that couldn't.

Peterrabbitscarrots · 16/05/2018 07:55

Yes my DH is convinced it’s sonethibg to do with the sister’s infertility eg she was going to act as surrogate but then changed her mind

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 16/05/2018 08:05

Ooh I'm suspecting everyone st the moment. The bil with his boat knots surely a red herring this early on? If Innocent is anything like the books also written my M Arlidge, there'll be a big twist at the end.

Slartybartfast · 16/05/2018 08:15

Cross with the obvious Knot, I had already worked out, or at least another MNetter had, that the bil may have a part in it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2018 11:30

@winged

Good theory

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/05/2018 11:52

The knot rather reminded me of the blue nylon rope that kept turning up in Broadchurch (series 3).

I didn't see the beginning of the first episode so can someone please tell me the salient facts of Tara's murder?

Peterrabbitscarrots · 16/05/2018 12:40

I thought the knot was a bit too obvious

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2018 13:21

TBH not sure we know if the facts

She obv was Missing as hubby did an appeal saying please anyone if you know anything /return her etc

And then from odd shot think she was found wrapped in a white bag with butterfly Knots

Not sure why she was wrapped or tied

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/05/2018 13:23

Thanks Blondeshavemorefun.

If Rob was teaching his 'daughter' to do the butterfly knot presumably he could have just as easily taught Alice?

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2018 13:30

True. Sis Alice could have done it due to ivf loan and pain being rejected

OP posts:
MinorRSole · 16/05/2018 13:36

I don't think it was Tom as he lied about timing meaning the husband didn't have an alibi but without the lie it gives Tom one.
Sister and bil probably too obvious.
I'm thinking Tom's (now ex) wife but she's not a big woman so not able to move the body herself.
The husbands brother is an interesting theory though - there is something that is just a bit off about him

Cocolepew · 16/05/2018 14:46

I'm enjoying it, I love Lee Ingleby.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/05/2018 15:00

Lee Ingleby seems to be flavour of the month at the moment, along with Jessie Buckley (although I know she's not in this series)!

FawnDrench · 16/05/2018 15:44

My theory is that it could be absolutely anybody who's appeared in a scene up to now, apart from the daughter.

So / too many "clues" / red herrings.
Not even subtle either.

But I'll still watch as it's got me hooked.

Walkerbean16 · 16/05/2018 16:35

i can't get over the fact that the husband played stan shunpike in the harry potter films!

i like wings theory.

Walkerbean16 · 16/05/2018 16:35

*winged's!

JaneJeffer · 16/05/2018 17:14

The husband doesn't seem a particularly nice person and is quick to get violent. He said he had never hit a woman.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/05/2018 18:23

He possibly wouldn't be a nice person having been in jail for seven years for a crime he didn't commit. Bitter and very angry I would have thought...

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2018 18:35

Oh. Didn’t know he was in harry p

OP posts:
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/05/2018 18:44

Who was Stan Shunpike in the HP films - the one who drove the bus?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/05/2018 18:45

I didn't like Lee Ingleby's character in George Gently but do like the one he plays in The A Word. Hasn't he been in something else very recently too?

CheeseTheDay · 16/05/2018 19:49

I'm really enjoying it. Am a big fan of Lee Ingleby. I loved him in The Five.

NewModel - Stan was the conductor of the Knight Bus. Ernie Prang was the driver.

The guy who plays Rob (Dave's BIL) was James Potter in the HP films.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/05/2018 19:54

Can't even remember what The Five was about (although it sounds familiar!).

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2018 20:31

I hope this gets properly ended tomorow wbs not handing on for second series

I want to know who killed her and why
