Anyone else excited about this tonight?

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Never over pack your ring, folks!

DarlingNikita · 06/06/2018 17:41

I started to feel a bit ill with all the talk about the ring! Grin

Shame for Trevor. I was really starting to like him; he was funny and mischievous.

I'm loving Claudia in this series. 'Just me clapping? Awesome.' Grin

The two men judges are utterly forgettable. What an insult to imply that Mary B needs two extra people. She could do it single-handed and not break a sweat.

I enjoy it though, even though I do understand all the criticisms about the weird format/unnecessary house-sharing etc.

troodiedoo · 06/06/2018 17:48

I like the one that does that food shopping for simpletons with Greg Wallace. I'm sure the other one does have a personality, but it's not coming across on screen. Of course, it doesn't help that he looks like will young.

food shopping for simpletons
Grin

I hope that's the show's actual title.

troodiedoo · 07/06/2018 16:07

Haha it's actually eat well for less. But I'm sure simpletons must have been the working title Grin

I'm still going with it but it's v forgettable. Still catching up with Tom Kerridge but as I said earlier on the thread it's far better than this, v enjoyable.

Samcro · 08/06/2018 14:52

remember next week its on Wednesday and Thursday
was sad to see Katie go,

Itsveryhard · 09/06/2018 08:13

We love it in this house! But my 2 children love Mary and Claudia. Katie was our favourite, can't believe she had such a bad week. We really thought she would win!

charliebear78 · 09/06/2018 18:58

I was also surprised they got rid of Katie- I had her or Pippa down to win!

WhatShalliCallMyselfToday · 10/06/2018 01:09

I think Katie deserved to go though she had a bad couple of days and not seasoning mash is a pretty basic error. Tobi seems to be getting stronger, just needs to be consistent.

Itsveryhard · 10/06/2018 07:55

You're right about Katie this week, she just had a shocker! So strange when she had been doing so well. I would have thought the sharing platter would have been perfect for her too

Sortofcool · 10/06/2018 14:09

Really surprised Katie went as she’s barely put a foot wrong all the way through. Also had either her or Pippa down to win too. I’m watching mainly because there’s so little on TV I want to watch at the moment and I’m a bit bored of an evening. The format is bit weird and all the hugging and linking arms really irritates me.

jay55 · 11/06/2018 13:55

Still watching too, I like this followed by million pound menu.
The sharing platter thing was interpreted so differently by them all, felt they should have been given stronger guidelines.
Sad that Katie has gone too, apart from her attitude to fish, which bugged me.

rockcakesrock · 11/06/2018 18:26

I hate the hugging too. I hope Pippa wins, nothing seems to phase her

Finallybreathingout · 11/06/2018 18:33

Mary Berry's hatred of spice and apparently limited food background (never had dim sum, seriously?) is grating. Believe it or not, lots of people cook with spices at home. Didn't Chetna get the same treatment on GBBO?

ElfrideSwancourt · 12/06/2018 12:29

I'm catching up with this on iPlayer- does Pippa really irritate anyone else, or is it just me??
Can't quite put my finger on why she annoys me so much- really hoping she doesn't win.

WhatShalliCallMyselfToday · 13/06/2018 20:41

Jay55 in total agreement with million pound menu, we've been watching them both too.

Pauperlil · 13/06/2018 21:19

Stopped watching this show but still reading comments on here, I agree with ElfrideSwancourt , that is Peppa irritating and i think she is smug. The show is boring unoriginal and too pleased with itself, the BBC thinks the viewer is stupid, they think putting a copycat format of bake off with a few added extras equal a hit, but it does not and the judges lack charm and nor does Mary Berry on this, although she did on bake off and other shows. Instead of trying to recreate bake off come up with something new.

TwitterQueen1 · 13/06/2018 21:24

There's no edge to it and it lacks integrity. Pippa was picked as favourite tonight, yet everyone said her ice cream was not a canape, nor were her crisps, nor was the beef thing that dribbled and collapsed everywhere and her beetroot & goats cheese was massive and there was no clue how to eat it either. Yet she won.

I think Tobi was the right choice to go tonight but the show lacks authenticity.

Sortofcool · 14/06/2018 10:10

pauperlil I think lack of charm really sums it up.

The faux supportiveness doesn’t work either and just looks contrived daft and I just don’t care enough about who wins. I’m watching because I’m bored and there’s very little on tv that I like right now and this is easy viewing. But unless the BBC make major changes it’s going to be hard to justify another series. The fact that throughout the entire series there is a total of 72 posts on here about it shows just how un gripping it is. Master chef and Bake-off threads are pretty fast paced.

lurkingfromhome · 14/06/2018 12:05

Oh the constant hugging and linking arms makes me want to punch the lot of them. I could never go on this show as I’d be hissing “Stop HUGGING me. I barely even KNOW you!” at every opportunity.

Yes, good point about the lack of charisma. Everyone is either annoying or utterly devoid of personality on this (with the possible exception of Claudia but it’s not a good fit for her either)

ElfrideSwancourt · 14/06/2018 13:10

Claudia is at her best when she's let loose (like when she did It Takes Two) but much as I love her, I don't think this format really works for her.

charliebear78 · 14/06/2018 14:02

I really enjoyed Claudia on "It takes two" so was looking forward to her hosting on Strictly
However on there and now on this show she just isn't the same! al her "humour" seems forced.

charliebear78 · 14/06/2018 14:03

Oh and anybody know when Masterchef the Professionals is back? (and the Celeb version which I enjoy also?)
