Anyone else excited about this tonight?

I'm cautiously optimistic.

I quite enjoyed it-easy watching.
Q has bags of Attitude which i am not sure is a good thing?!
The Chef Judge reminds me abit of Will Young!!???
When Claudia appears I keep looking for Tess

troodiedoo · 04/05/2018 14:30

I thought that too @charliebear78 it's clouding my judgment of him!

Bland, bland, bland.

Yorkshirebetty · 05/05/2018 18:55

jay55 so true Grin!
I enjoyed it. That farmer is very ambitious, flavour wise. I like Q. I was sad that Fiona left, but was worried about how her large family coped without her!

Ironfloor · 05/05/2018 19:47

I was also cautiously optimistic like the OP.

What a waste of time and taxpayer's money. Three judges and Claudia were unnecessary. They could have done it with Chris, Mary (I dislike her but if you must have her) and the chef.

And they tried to force fit so many elements - apprentice-big brother-mastechef-GBBO it just ended up being so blah..

Utter drivel.

The show is pants, Since BBC sold off Bake Off they keep trying to create food shows that they think will be as popular as Bake Off, but so far all these shows hasn’t reached the same popularity, and it hasn’t worked. Bake off was a surprise hit, it started off on bbc 2. I am actually enjoying Tom Ketteridge Top of the shop program on bbc 2 at the moment . To me it’s a good bake off replacement, not in the same league but I think it’s a enjoyable sweet interesting show

charliebear78 · 06/05/2018 18:27

Will have to give the Tom show a go-love Tom and we make his meals a lot at home.

iamnotwhat · 07/05/2018 20:10

I stumbled across BBHC by accident while looking for something to watch while the washing machine finished (bouncing across the kitchen and then holding the laundry hostage). I really enjoyed it - which was a huge surprise! I love Claudia Winkleman but I get a little annoyed by Mary Berry. I used to love her, but having bought one of "her" awful lemon drizzle cakes recently I feel like she's really sold out.

Anyway, back to BBHC. It was entertaining and helped pass an hour very pleasantly. I'll definitely be watching the rest of the series (and hoping that there'll be a second series 🤞🏻).

SugarMiceInTheRain · 08/05/2018 18:35

I too stumbled across it by accident and really quite enjoyed it. I think 2 judges plus Claudia would have been plenty. I do like the Claudia and Mary combo, and really like the fact that they're cooking ordinary food not way-out weird stuff that nobody would ever cook outside a competition or Michelin-starred restaurant. Will try that Tom Kerridge show Pauperil, thanks for the tip. Looking forward to this week's show.

MrsTommyBanks · 10/05/2018 20:21

Anyone watching tonight?
I'm really enjoying this round. It's giving more insight to the cooks ability.

MrsTommyBanks · 10/05/2018 20:58

Oh no Sad Not Q.

TwitterQueen1 · 10/05/2018 21:03

Q deserved to go though. Her soup looked disgusting and she had no idea of how to cook squash or meringue for that matter.

Katie did brilliantly. I love the fact that although her recipes were maybe the simplest her food was obviously the tastiest.

Pippa is a bit of a one-trick pony at the moment.

Yorkshirebetty · 11/05/2018 06:03

I'm glad Mary Berry told that bloke off for doing those "cheffy" smears across the plate.

calzone · 11/05/2018 14:29

I really like the informality of the show.

Izzywigs · 11/05/2018 15:34

I like it. The cooks are so lovely, but I think a bit of jealousy is creeping in with one or two.

Ironfloor269 · 11/05/2018 22:06

It’s a pathetic excuse for a show. Mary Berry doesn’t say anything beyond average. I can turn up at the show and say what she says.

Maybe if they get rid of her, I might actually enjoy it.

charliebear78 · 18/05/2018 14:18

Well I am still watching(I can't be the only one?!)
I have heard it's a ratings flop but we just find it easy watching! Masterchef coming back soon though!

jay55 · 18/05/2018 20:05

The bone marrow pie looked amazing but I’m not running to try chicken gizzards and plantain.

Dwellerfromunderthesink · 18/05/2018 23:21

I’m still watching because my friends are friends of Cyrus's parents. It was a close call regarding who left. They were both about the same standard i think. I’m wondering why you would enter something like this if you’d never made a pie or pasta before on the basis that chances are you are going to be asked to tackle them.

DifferentDayDifferentName · 21/05/2018 22:44

Still watching here too, they definitely were the right bottom two. I quite like it, although the Tom Kerridge Top of the Shop prog is better and if it's still available I'd recommend it.

Thisnamechanger · 24/05/2018 22:45

Just catching up with the first Episode....

So they've crossed GBBO with the appreciate Hmm

I will watch any piece of shit show as long as it's about cooking but this just feels.... unfinished?

I love MN but she's not a strong enough personality on her own.

Am possibly allowing by dislike of CW to cloud my judgement though. She manages to be bland and try hard quirky at the same time...

grumpy

lurkingfromhome · 25/05/2018 17:34

There is so much that's wrong with this show that it makes you realise how well-produced GBBO and Masterchef are.

(1) Odd set and weirdly filmed with some strange camera angles. Everything looks a bit cheap.

(2) Terrible mix of presenters. The two male judges are indistinguishable from each other and completely lacking in personality (whatever you think of John and Gregg/Paul and Prue etc, at least they have some sort of screen presence and a different function from each other).

(3) In fact, the 4 of them just don't gel at all well and look like they only just met each other 5 minutes before filming. I normally like Claudia but the supposed pairing of her & MB is entirely forced - she needs someone to bounce off like Mel and Sue.

(4) There is no reason whatsoever why the contestants have to share a house. It adds nothing to anything.

(5) Everything about it seems forced - when the contestants have to sit around the table with cups of tea, when they perch on stools watching the cook-off and making comments - it's meant to look all spontaneous and natural but you can practically hear the directors telling them where to sit, what to say.

(6) I do actually like the cooking challenges, though (although I wonder why in god's name you'd come on a show like this if you've never made a pie/cooked fish etc).

Pauperlil · 25/05/2018 20:36

I love to hate this show 😆 the bit when they two lads were doing the final challenge and the other cooks behaviour was as if the two competing cooks were fighting sharks in the ocean !!! It does all seem forced and Mary berry seemed a bit mean in last episode too. Bake off was successful as it was a brand new format, fresh and contestants being nice to another in the world of x factor, apprentice and the like. This show annoys me but yet I watch it to critise 🙈

TwitterQueen1 · 31/05/2018 16:41

So who's going tonight? I think farmer Trevor's time is running out. He's just all over the place with too many ingredients and no focus. And since he's a meat and spice person I'm not sure that chocolate is going to be his thing....

troodiedoo · 31/05/2018 20:14

I like them all! And I want some chocolate
