Aridane · 03/05/2018 12:09

I'm starting a thread for those of us watching Season 2 and who want to discuss ahead of its screening in the UK.

So far I've watched the first 3 episodes.

God the 1st episode was grim.

Nick isn't shot. I think that was something either he set up to get away from the Waterford household, or the eyes ordered by Fred the Bastard to shoot him know him as a fellow eye so just fire their weapons aside and leave him there.
I hope he and June are reunited, I can't take all this misery and awfulness. I need hope. June and Nick need hope. In this terrible modern world now, we all need hope.

I never liked Serena, never thought she'd become good (although for a bit I sort of hoped) - but I will never ever feel sorry for her after this SHIT. Her and Fred need a dungeon and some harsh treatment pretty damn quickly. Sick.

Snappedandfarted2018 · 20/06/2018 20:45

I wondered if Fred felt guilt to what happened so arranged June to see Hannah to make himself seem less guilty as he gave June a treat for “being such an good girl” the sick fucker.

OohMavis · 20/06/2018 20:45

My throat is strained from holding back tears the whole way through Sad

MynameisJune · 20/06/2018 21:02

Just finished episode 10. I was fine, until the scenes with Hannah and that was it.

What I can’t understand from the trailer for next week is why Fred doesn’t just send someone else to pick her up. So why is SJ acting like they’ve lost June?

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 21:12

I've just started ep 10. I was thinking the people in the water would be Isaac and Eden for copping off with each other. Probably barking up the wrong tree. We'll see. Accidentally spoilered myself by reading the comment before this one. Oh well!

OohMavis · 20/06/2018 21:16

I think he must send someone and they find her missing. It appears she sets off on foot, but it's snowing in this episode so likely that her tracks are covered.

Please let her find a house with friendly occupants.

AcrossthePond55 · 20/06/2018 21:23

Oh, thanks bubble. I didn’t remember that.

Itscurtainsforyou · 20/06/2018 21:31

I'm trying not to read the posts. Still nothing on showbox. Don't they realise I NEED to see episode 10??

Itscurtainsforyou · 20/06/2018 22:44

Ok - seen it now. That was pretty harrowing. Did I completely miss the bit with the swimming pool in the preview?

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 22:46

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 22:47

I just absolutely broke my heart over that episode. Really harrowing.

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 22:51

There's too much to wrap up in one episode, the fuckers.

Slarti · 20/06/2018 23:26

The Hannah scene... I can't put into words right now just how much that got to me. Utterly heartbreaking. I'm lying in bed now thinking of my own DC. Sad

Praisebe · 21/06/2018 06:04

God that was an awful episode to watch. At least now June knows they've Renamed her Agnes and that house where Serena saw her must have been her new home so if June gets to Canada then she could get Hannah back with that info. I thought when Hannah saw her she'd forgotten who she was i think june did too for a second Sad

BG2015 · 21/06/2018 06:29

hiddly we have 3 more episodes to go.

SophieCatScribbles · 21/06/2018 09:11

This is just a trailer for a YouTube thing of still pictures from episode 10, but watch the ad at the front - it's the cast (we see them too) reading aloud letters from girls in countries where FGM happens.

Very powerful.

SophieCatScribbles · 21/06/2018 09:12

Arse, forgot the link!

LadyCassandra · 21/06/2018 09:55

Gosh, that was hard to watch at 38 weeks pregnant! I sobbed through the Hannah scene 😭
I almost think it would have been better if Hannah didn’t remember June. It was tragically sad to watch.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 21/06/2018 11:16

Who are everyone's favourite characters? I think mine might be Janine; I really like Emily too.

Rolypolybabies · 21/06/2018 12:45

I really like Rita

AcrossthePond55 · 21/06/2018 14:25

I like Rita too. She stays in the background (I would too), but yet she's a quiet source of strength and comfort in her own way. You can tell that she wants to speak up to Serena Joe, she wants to do more for June, but she just daren't. The scene where she said "I'll tell the baby about you" just made me sob. It made me wonder if she had a child of her own pre-Gilead and if that is her own deepest fear, that her own child has forgotten her.

Rita's and Aunt Lydia's are the back stories I want the most.

LilCamper · 21/06/2018 14:43

I think Rita had an adult son that died during the conflict.

AcrossthePond55 · 21/06/2018 14:47

Ooooh, I want June, the baby and Rita to go on the run!!!!

AcrossthePond55 · 21/06/2018 14:50

Thanks Lil. I really need to rewatch season 1. And read the book.

I had thought about rewatching season 1 just before season 2 premiered. But it's just so HARD to watch! I think I'm going to search out a website with good episode by episode synopses.

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 21/06/2018 16:01

Apparently one of the upcoming episode descriptions says "Rita goes on a journey" or similar (I haven't read it myself but saw it discussed online), maybe Rita escapes? Is it possible as godmother she takes the baby with her, could that happen??

She did keep hold of the letters for June, even though she didn't know June was returning. And her son was killed in the war leading to Gilead, I think she would take her role as godmother seriously.

Not sure if it is plausible though unless she somehow has support from the Resistance.

I'm leaning towards June not escaping as unless she's absurdly lucky, escaping in winter pregnant at term/ with a newborn would be incredibly difficult. But I feel that someone has to escape otherwise viewers will drop off for the series being too depressing.

I'm sure Emily is going to do something big. She has little to lose and she already murdered a Wife.
