Anybody else watching it? I really want to like it but I am really not feeling it.

OP posts:
phlebasconsidered · 23/05/2018 17:37

I think the other woman may be Nina. She had longer dark hair in photos in her mums house.

I also think her older daughter is C's. Who is weird. At least Mangan is human. He's just odd and giving her ultimatums at his door is classic controlling.

I actually find Rose ok. That sort of idiocy is real when you are twenty odd!

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/05/2018 17:43

Hannah would've recognised her own sister if it was Nina in the photo though!

I was expecting her to fall into Christie's arms at the end of that episode but I'm glad they didn't go with the cliche. Someone said upthread that there's only one episode to go? That's a lot to wrap up in just an hour.

GnotherGnu · 23/05/2018 18:24

I don't find Christie at all hawt, if anything he seems vaguely annoying.

BurningTheToast · 23/05/2018 18:29

I can't remember if they've said how long Hannah and Nathan have been married? Could the eldest daughter be Christie's as people have suggested? That would be interesting, especially as they're so keen on the whole 'Hannah always does the right thing' business. I'm not sure keeping it from him was doing the right thing.

That is a big plot device to introduce and wrap in that last episode especially with all the other stories. Something to tease for a second series?

I liked that she didn't fall into Christie's arms as it would have been a cliche but I'm not sure I would have been able to resist...

Hannah has the womans name and address how could it be Nina?

AppleYumYum · 23/05/2018 18:44

The way that episode ended I think it could very well be he slams the door shut... then we'll see her knocking again and storming in (and hopefully ripping his clothes off so we can check him out!)

Jux · 23/05/2018 19:17

God, he's one of the last actors on tv I want to check out. Keep his ruddy clothes on, please.

HasAnyoneGotAProblemWithThat · 23/05/2018 19:24

I don’t find Christie & Hannah realistic at all. He’s far too slimy. Nathan- most men will cheat given the opportunity & if they think they won’t get caught. Used to be a family lawyer in another life. Also no way would Hannah have spoken to Davey - completely unethical.

Tomboytown · 23/05/2018 19:25

This is very well done.
Bringing back lots of the 'been cheated on' feelings ☹️

foxyliz26 · 23/05/2018 19:28

Leaving aside Hannah (Nicola Walker )character would never have married that loser played by Stephen Mangan ( ( he is the same in everything )
Rose wouldn't fit with the guy in the glasses
none of the characters are believable, and each episode is like its been written by a different writer

phlebasconsidered · 23/05/2018 19:32

We don't know that it isnt her or one of the firms addresses yet. Or that Hannah recognises the woman. It would be a twist. Not likely now ive watched the last bit of the episode though.

Jux · 23/05/2018 19:44

Are you saying that Hannah might actually be unable to recognise her own sister? How? How could she fail to do so?

(The photo didn't look anything like Nina to me, anyway.)

Jux · 23/05/2018 19:47

Oh, and didn't Hannah ask Nathan something about how he knew her/met her? He didn't answer, "well, she was kind of there right by your side all the time we've known each other - hey! I thought she was your sis? You said she was your sis! You know, what was it??? Hang on, I'll remember in a mo .... that's it!! NINA!"

VanGoghsDog · 23/05/2018 20:12

It wasn't Nina, if it was Nina why would she have been so disgusted about his grope and snog and had that outburst at dinner?

Course it wasn't her.

I don't get the Christie thing, I just don't see why she would go there. At least, not that night - and why does he live in a prison?

Jux · 23/05/2018 20:20

Sorry, but if it turns out to be Nina, it wouldn't be a twist. I don't know what it would be, Writer's Desperation or something, but they'd never be asked to write anything again.

Clawdy · 23/05/2018 22:34

Yes, Christie's home looked very shabby, that front door! Really don't like him at all.

calzone · 23/05/2018 23:00

I loved Hannah’s purple jacket.

Where can I find out where it’s from?

I 💕💕 Anthony Head. He’s the hottest guy in the show.

Tigresswoods · 24/05/2018 07:56

I like the way Nathan's indiscretion has unfolded slowly & realistically.

Yes to purple coat/top thing!!!

HasAnyoneGotAProblemWithThat · 24/05/2018 07:58

Nathan said something to Hannah that she’s been lying he whole life? What’s that about? He suspects she slept with Christie before they were married?

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/05/2018 08:44

I thought Nathan knew about Hannah and Christie?

Loopytiles · 24/05/2018 09:18

No, Nathan suspects something, emotional affair type thing, went on and that hannah has “held a torch” - presumably what he meant by his comment - but doesn’t know about hannah’s infidelity the night before the wedding.

Christie’s flat is urban London, looks normal for those kind of (expensive!) flats to me.

Is his exW pregnant with HIS DC or does she have a new partner? I have assumed the latter.

I don’t think the eldest daughter is Christie’s.

AppleYumYum · 24/05/2018 11:05

It's a new partner, he asked her at the time how xxx was taking it and she said terrified.

Peartree17 · 24/05/2018 11:14

Well, I have been half-heartedly watching it, for want of anything better, but I really enjoyed episode 5 and am now wondering how they're going to wrap it all up in the last one. I am Team Nathan-not-Christie, think Stephen Mangan much the better catch. Quite liked Christie's 'when you've finished judging Nathan, take a look at yourself,' though, and tend to think, 'fair point.' And his sudden fatigue with having to persuade Hannah, - 'you've got to say it...I"m done.' - I liked that. Hannah's enjoyed the drama and romance of the road not taken for rather too long now, dontcha think? It's all those years of being the good child - she's carried it on in her marriage and let the heart go out of it, while thinking that provided she doesn't actually HAVE the affair, she's still not selling her husband and her happiness in her marriage short.

God, I spend way too much time watching telly and then posting about it!

ConferenceBores · 24/05/2018 11:24

Yes, from episode 1 you could see the Hannah/Mangan relationship was doomed, you have to wonder how it lasted as long as it did. Neither party has a lot to feel great about with respect to their actions.

oldmum22 · 24/05/2018 12:11

Well this set the cat amongst the pigeons when DH and I watched it. I casually said that it was water under the bridge that she slept with Christie before her wedding and that she made the choice to commit to Nathan, so therefore she didn't have an affair. DH reckons she did and that Nathan was not the first in the relationship to be unfaithful. I also suspect that the dark haired woman was not the first fling Nathan had. Goldie should have photographed soon to be ex in her bed and sent it off to her ex best friend !. The old saying "marry your mistress and you create a vacancy" applies here. Really like the show ,especially the clothes and houses .
