Anybody else watching it? I really want to like it but I am really not feeling it.

OP posts:
DaffoDeffo · 10/05/2018 10:16

I'm finding it quite enjoyable

the character I find the least believable is the middle sister but the rest of them are ok I think. I just find her annoying for some reason.

Willow2017 · 10/05/2018 10:35

I think I would rather be kissing Anthony Head than Christie, or Stephen Mangan.

Definately me too😀

I was pissed off at the boss threatening a female employee over a male employee harassing her too. Typical it must be her fault not his crap.

I think there is more to come re why the dad left. I really dont like the mum there is something very manipulative and selfish about her. She seems to care more about the business than daughters while purporting she has done every thing for them. Poaching clients, not going to wedding dress shopping etc. Of course it may all swing around again😀

You can all have the men, I’ll have the handbags, family home and a supermarket sweep in the wine cellar of goldie’s mansion!

ConferenceBores · 10/05/2018 16:34

Oooh I was looking at the wine cellar with much longing!

Slartybartfast · 10/05/2018 18:34

but dad could have come to visit, or even phoned, he wasnt on the moon!

Slartybartfast · 10/05/2018 18:36

the youngest sister lunging after the priest was Ridiculous

ConferenceBores · 10/05/2018 19:10

re the younger sister - how did she get to 32 before settling for a nice boy? It doesn’t ring true that she’d have waited that long to compromise if a ‘nice’ man was her goal.

Vagndidit · 10/05/2018 19:41

Can anyone enlighten me about a phrase they used twice in this week's episode that I can honestly say I've never heard before--- "terminal dinner."????

Keep in mind I grew up in another country---but after nearly a decade here I thought I had heard it all. Apparently not.

Serial123 · 10/05/2018 19:47

Vag can you give some more context?

ConferenceBores · 10/05/2018 20:12

It’s not a phrase I’ve ever heard, although I’d assume it was either so boring they wanted to die or some sort of last dinner...

Clawdy · 10/05/2018 22:00

Yes, I found that a strange phrase, especially used twice! Presume it meant terminally boring?

Middleoftheroad · 10/05/2018 22:33

@peartree - hmm feel more depressed knowing some high flyers do live that glam now!

Jux · 11/05/2018 14:58

I'm assuming that if I had actually wanted to live like that, then I would be living like that; the fact that I'm not indicates that my choices were based on very different priorities.

Peartree17 · 11/05/2018 15:35

Well, I have never fancied the monumentally hard work at a job which isn't very interesting to me which that lifestyle entails! I have always been waaaayyy too interested in doing almost anything else. And do I really care enough about a handbag to spend £5K minimum? Um, no. But the glamorous end of charity work and the honorary degrees and satisfaction of being an influential person would be good - but then, all that networking, all those nights out, all that effort...I'm afraid I like my sofa, my garden, my book collection, homecooking, my bed too much.

NeonK · 11/05/2018 15:46

I reckon Hannah's eldest is actually Christie's, not her husbands. Although I haven't really bothered to figure out if that fits the timeline. Have they said how long they've been married?

Also, to whoever said the fiancé and the vicar would run off, yes!! I was convinced they were going to turn out to be gay. I still think they might Grin

Cecily75 · 11/05/2018 20:17

Oooh I really enjoyed this week's episode: Nicola Walker is so ace; I fall a little bit more in love with Stephen Mangan each week (but then he gets drunk and does something stupid); Stephen Mangan vs lovely tall Dutch guy...

If I could have Hannah's house and Christie, that would be my choice! Grin

VanGoghsDog · 13/05/2018 11:29

Wasn't there something about her being 19 and making a mistake, but she is over forty now and eldest child is 16. She shagged C the night before her wedding but I don't think we know what age she got married.
I reckon at 19 she got pregnant and had a termination.
Married SM say five years later?

ConferenceBores · 13/05/2018 12:46

Yeah I couldn’t understand how that timeline worked either with the elder daughter so reckon you’re right!

mirage937 · 13/05/2018 13:30

how are NW and Christie supposed to know each other i wondered if all three were at uni together or something for SM character to know him too

Violetroselily · 13/05/2018 16:51

Wasn’t the “mistake” her and SM meeting and settling for each other at 19? As she apologised to him after saying it

lynmilne65 · 13/05/2018 18:32

It's made up folks, not real ffs

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/05/2018 18:52

I think we're probably all aware of that, thanks Hmm

VanGoghsDog · 13/05/2018 19:04

Quite @QueenOfTheAndals .

@lynmilne65 - go and piss on someone else's discussion.

mizu · 13/05/2018 19:42

I'm really enjoying this, nothing better sometimes than just sitting back and watching fantastic acting and beautiful outfits Grin

I, too, am a little in love with Nicola Walker, she is so brilliant.

Purplemond · 13/05/2018 21:44

im still enjoying it, i want a good backstory behind NW and Christie but feel like it will be predictable
