Anybody else watching it? I really want to like it but I am really not feeling it.

OP posts:
ConferenceBores · 08/05/2018 22:13

This episode was the weakest though, the hiding of the presents and the husband trying it on with the sister were all totally cliched.

He’s not wrong though, Hannah looks like a spectator with her family, not much involved.

NurseButtercup · 08/05/2018 22:40

I'm enjoying this programme, it's Monday night TV and there's nowt else to watch.

I think the different stories are realistic you read all kinds on aibu and the relationships board.

The ex-husband using the embryos as leverage to increase his share of the financial settlement (he's a shit by the way ).

The middle sister feeling like shit because she is only attractive to married men or men trying to set her up as a bootycall.

Goldie is being waaaaaay to restrained and polite about the latest revelation. I applaud her for being a lady. I would have probably gone ape-shit and disgraced myself (I think).

I cannot believe that someone could have an affair and a child with a man and then be ‘best friends’ with the wife. No one has absolutely no conscience whatsoever. It’s really cheesed me off!!
And the youngest sister kissing the priest and the middle sister almost being kissed by the husband, all in one night. I may have to give this up as utter tripe!!

Jux · 08/05/2018 23:07

I do know a woman who was more than capable of being 'best friends' with the wife of her lover. She was a vile human being in many many ways. When she was found out of course her best friend never spoke to her again. She used to sit there saying "I don't understand, she never spoke to me again" with a big fat sad face straight out of the DM.

It was years ago, and I haven't seen her since I left that job (we were colleagues), but I meanly hope that she's in the gutter. No, I don't really, that's really horrid. But she deserves it anyway.

VanGoghsDog · 08/05/2018 23:14

@NurseButtercup - I think it's Tuesday :D

But there's still nothing else on!

BeaLola · 09/05/2018 00:23

I'm watching cos there's nowt on , clothes are lovely, her house - well the kitchen part looks amazing, and she and Christie don't appear to do that much but are top lawyer s and her barrister lovely DH is at home hours earlier than her ? - is that because he actually works rather than standing in doorways ?

I thought the embryo lady caved way too quickly - also how long were they married for him to walk away with 30 million ?

Sister kissing vicar. - weird and to be honest how old is their daughter that is now sleeping with her boyfriend ? She almost didn't seem worried / that bothered about it yet has much younger children still at home - am I really so old that I'm out of touch ?

NurseButtercup · 09/05/2018 05:14

@VanGoghsDog

Ooops Grin

TeisanLap · 09/05/2018 06:07

I’m really enjoying it. But that could be down to there being nothing in to think about. It’s easy watching.

TeisanLap · 09/05/2018 06:08

Goldie is being waaaaaay to restrained and polite about the latest revelation. I applaud her for being a lady. I would have probably gone ape-shit and disgraced myself (I think)

Give it time.

Tigresswoods · 09/05/2018 06:48

Why does she want to sleep with her husband he lovely Stephen Mangan?

Slartybartfast · 09/05/2018 06:59

I think the SM kissing was very convenient, when I thought they had a good relationship.

Slartybartfast · 09/05/2018 06:59

i spose the caving in woman because she was only scheduled for one episode!

Lupercalia · 09/05/2018 07:36

I don't think for one minute Hannah and Nathan have a good marriage. They have the sort of rubbing along marriage MOST people have by mid forties. Generally disconnected, little sex, habit .

Depressing but common.

BurningTheToast · 09/05/2018 11:27

I'm quite enjoying this although I can see the flaws. I'd be very tempted by Christie if I was married to Stephen Mangan's character (can't remember his name)...

Does anyone know where Nina's red handbag is from? I do like it!

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/05/2018 11:38

I was surprised at Rose kissing the vicar - always assumed wet fiance would turn out to be gay and run off with said vicar!

ConferenceBores · 09/05/2018 11:41

Oh the vicar kissing thing was horrible but it was convincing that Rose would do something like that as it’s hard to see why she’s going through with the wedding.

I hope next week’s is better because Mangan making an attempt on the sister doesn’t jive with his 20 years of being a nice guy and a great dad, seemed out of character, surely an affair with a sympathetic co worked is more likely than attempting your wife’s sister which is a new level of low?

But I have a bit of a thing for Mangan even though he’s a bit petulant looking

ConferenceBores · 09/05/2018 11:42

I agree luper there has been no affection shown between them

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/05/2018 11:44

You can have him Conference, I'll take Christie!

ConferenceBores · 09/05/2018 11:48

queen done :) I really hope that silly sister pass plotline doesn’t go anywhere...

Serial123 · 09/05/2018 12:19

It does have a few flaws but I'm mainly enjoying it - Nicola Walker is always brilliant and I like Stephen mangan too. I'd rather watch a female led drama with a few flaws than another cliche crime/police series. Also Hannah and Christie have a lot of chemistry!

Did you see on the credits where they show the casting director etc - someone was responsible for casting the role of Christie Carmichael, separate to the other casting? Is that normal? I'll try and get a screen grab.

VanGoghsDog · 09/05/2018 12:49

I also adore SM.

My prediction - daughter will get preg, Hannah will turn out to have had a termination when she was quite young (was 19 mentioned as when she got together with Nathan?) and she never knew if it was his or Christine's, or.......she did know (hence the "he doesn't want kids.....with me" sub plot).

CraicMammy · 09/05/2018 13:00

Hold on... Hannah still owns a share in Defoes? Yet she’s acting for Mrs MacKenzie in a case against a client of Defoes?! That is a MONUMENTAL conflict of interests, I really hope she’s disclosed the conflict to her client and sought informed consent!

Peartree17 · 09/05/2018 13:51

Christie's awful! Stephen M any day - ridiculous amount of kissing the wrong people last night. (Yes, I"m still watching, too my shame. Really I want more of the Meera Syal plot). I have to wonder at why Abi Morgan is so highly thought of - is this a bum note for her? I haven't seen her other stuff.

Serial123 · 09/05/2018 14:01

Yes pear imo this is more lowbrow/soapy than the last Abi Morgan thing I watched - she also did River which I thought was brilliant (also with NW). It's on Netflix if you have it.

LadyB49 · 09/05/2018 14:07

Is River a movie or a series or a movie on Net Flicks?
