A bit like the house swap last year with rich and poor families

Tho this time just the rich kids swap

They spend time with a poorer family

E1 23yr Fergus from Chelsea spends the weekend with ANNA mum of 4 who lives in Croydon

That’s what intrigues me. 21, married, baby, and a geology student. Quite a mix going on.

pink412 · 17/02/2019 21:48

Watched most of these online and some of the “rich” kids come across as really nice people and others not so much.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/02/2019 14:45

I agree. Some of the really makes them think how hard life is without money

And one meal in a restaurant is their weekly food budget

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2019 20:28

S3 and Jacob - why did they make him do a weeks shop for £50 in costcutters

He would have for more for money vi Lidl Asda Tesco etc

I wonder how much of this is embellished on the 'rich' side though. I watched the 23 year old married mum and geology student and cannot believe that she had no idea of the concept of a charity shop or that people used the NHS as a first port of call. She also said that her family used to fly a doctor in if their preferred doctor wasn't available, I find that very hard to believe or maybe I'm just a pleb.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 23/02/2019 11:50

Jacob 😳..... “I don’t think there will be a Waitrose”

minesthecutest · 23/02/2019 22:48

ooh I watched the one with Jacob and the family from Manchester.
I know they both work and I've done frozen dinners many times but surely it would be cheaper and healthier to batch cook home made food. They seemed to just have stuff that was from the freezer with not much else in between.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2019 07:01

Sometimes I feel a little sorry for the rich kids

It’s not their fault they are totally spoilt and have daddy’s money to spend and never need to budget

And then poor family look at them in disgust when they say for example they can spend £250 on one meal

And that’s the poor family monthly budget for food

Maybe they need to bring in the parents as well

Tho guess that would be rich house poor house

I just found this on demand a couple of weeks ago so have watched them all in the kitchen whilst cooking etc. Jodie was awful, I think she was the only rich kid who really irritated me!

Missmother · 24/02/2019 15:04

I watched one the other night with a young lad called Kofi, he was lovely and really took to the family who were also nice. This family could have way more cash because only the mum works whilst the Dad is a SAHM, the Dad used to work but Mum wanted a ‘turn’ now and the youngest child was about 3 so maybe when she’s school age then Dad will get a job, I just don’t understand why the 2 of them can’t work different shifts so that childcare is never needed, why you would choose to live skint when there’s no real need for it baffles me, the mother said that she gets £1000 pcm for her, her hubby and 3 kids, but surely they get more? £1000pcm is a wage that a single person gets, not a family of 5, doesn’t add up to me, unless I’m wrong and someone can point out that £1000 pcm is indeed correct? I would’ve thought tax credits and child benefit would be at least £300 Confused

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/02/2019 09:50

AGREE that family could have done shifts / so one work few hours in evening whether care work (my friend does 6/10 4 nights a week) to make up 16hrs or even shelf stacking

Sure they would have got more Benifits if earning £1k a month - and she said that was a good Month so her wage must vary

blondeshavemorefun I moved from Maidstone to the Midlands 6 years ago.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/02/2019 13:37

Ah small world :)

Was a good episode. Fatima was lovely and made her think about budgets

Surprised single mum didn’t get any benifits. Thoight she would be entitled to something :(

In actual fact once I watched it I realised she lived around the corner from our old house. I use to shop at that charity shop when the DC were little and I told my dh we were expecting dc#4 in that pub ❤️

I liked Fatima and I think they had a nice relationship. I agree with posters above that sometimes the "poor" family can be quite unkind to the rich kids.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2019 21:58

Anyone still watching

Blondes talks to self

S3 e5 sharia Tara and PAUL

lalaloopyhead · 11/03/2019 20:39

Anyone watching tonight?

I don't get how the 'poor family' are actually poor? He earns £2k a month and she is SAHP on maternity but they pay £700 a month childcare??

It seems a bit insulting to the other families that have been on here that are actually struggling to feed themselves.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/03/2019 21:55

Is that Tara and PAUL? And the £10 roast with drumsticks

She was a sweet girl

I am Assuming they have a mortgage on that house ?

But agree not the usual typical family - but guess if they only have a few pounds left a week /month

OP posts:
lalaloopyhead · 12/03/2019 06:23

Yes that was it. The £10 roast thing annoyed me too as I bet they don't do there shopping in the local off licence, they were setting her up to fail.

They had £200 pounds a month left if I heard correctly, and if they weren't paying child care (while she was SAHP) then that would be £900!

The rich kid was lovely and threw herself into things, I suppose it is all in editing but I just felt they tried to make her look stupid.

NKFell · 12/03/2019 16:18

I don't understand why £700 on childcare when a sahp? Did anyone work that out?

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2019 18:10

Yes would have loved to see what they would have brought from corner shop for £10

I’ve ssid it many times. Why do they go to corner expensive shop to do food shopping

Would get more for money vi sains Tesco Asda Lidl etc

On tonight

9pm 5 star - s3 e6

Jen and Antony and Alex

Yes dad had a go at anyone who dared question this on Twitter. Apparently they did it because it was better for the little boy's development and mum could concentrate on the newborn. He, also, that was the minimum hours the could go to keep his place open so it would still be there when Tara went back to work. He was quite uppity about it all, but none of that was expained on tne tele. I'm not sure I'd have made the same decisions had our family been in the same circumstances.

NKFell · 13/03/2019 16:32

Thank you Fairy!

I think that's bizarre! So she's a Mother of two but sahp to one?! Crazy.

JediJim · 14/03/2019 21:22

Bit late but also saw the Paul and Tara one from Northampton. SAHP but pays 700 quid a month on child care. Doesn’t make sense. 10 quid on a lunch budget at an expensive corner shop?.. and 18 quid a week to spend on a breakfast at a horrible truckers cafe with plastic seats? Why did they bother?
He arms 2k a month and they own a house. They opt to pay shed loads in child care. She could get a Sunday or evening job if they were that skint surely?
Hardly on the bread line.

x2boys · 15/03/2019 00:22

I watched one the other day where the t he rich kid went to Bolton can't remember the names, the young couple and toddler kept saying all they had to live on was dad's wage of £1000 /month they made no mention of any tax credits or child benefit they would be entitled to ,I live in Bolton by the way on a similar wage with two kids my youngest is disabled so we get extra tax credits , but I did a tough calculation.on entitled to.com.and by those calculations the couple would have been entitled to about £200+ child tax credits \month and £100+ working tax credits and also child benefit for one child also !maybe a small.amount of housing benefit.
