Rich / Poor divide this series.

OP posts:

Barnes the bombastic bore decided they should make a raft send get to another island and Mercedes who has done nothing since being there said she'd swim over with them
Of course it all went wrong and she had to be rescued by the crew then we think back to her chap where she passed out and had a row with Sammy (?)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/04/2018 21:58

and they ate Sammys portion of fish.

Str4ngedaysindeed · 16/04/2018 21:59

oh yes 😁

Str4ngedaysindeed · 16/04/2018 21:59

quelle surprise

Shenanagins · 16/04/2018 22:02

Oh dear it’s all unraveling!

Akire · 16/04/2018 22:02

They could have given her some fish 1 between 5
Or 6 wasn’t going to make much difference.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 16/04/2018 22:19

Would be interesting if they made a show with bear grills and Ray mears on an island where they could demonstrate how the experts survive. I would assume by day three they would have a house, fishing fleet, farm and cocktail bar set up.

Akire · 16/04/2018 22:34

:) hog roast every night! Anyone who’s been to a beach knows that rock is always miles further than you think. Then add no food 10 days....

Sad that they don’t think is any food when that’s entire point of programme. Do film crew get rations? Must do.

JaneJeffer · 16/04/2018 22:52

Well that was a pointless exercise.

I think that island is just too hard to survive on hence why its uninhabited.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 17/04/2018 07:03

Well given that we are now on the third series or so you would think participants would be well versed in what to expect and would have done a fair bit of prior research on how to improve their chances during their stay. It just seems to be the same cliched useless people every year now.

BusterTheBulldog · 17/04/2018 10:24

I loathe Barnes. That’s all I have to say really.

MycatsaPirate · 19/04/2018 20:57

Barnes is an arse. His background - leaves house at 10am to go to his office and then leaves office at lunchtime and 'it's such a long day'. What an utter cock! He hasn't got a fucking clue! He really doesn't work much at all and thinks he's still better than anyone in the 'poor ' camp despite not really working - he's probably just got better connections.

We are just catching up here and they are building the raft. You just know it's all going to go wrong.

KingLooieCatz · 20/04/2018 09:58

Did anyone watching think that the tiny rocky island would have more plentiful food than the island they started on?

Or that they'd be better placed to catch it and safely convey it back to camp after the exhausting rafting expedition?

FWIW I took a perfectly adequate kayak out on a large boating pond in calm weather last week and was pretty knackered after an hour. This after a good night's sleep, a bowl of porridge and a couple of strong cups of tea. A makeshift raft in rough sea? When already exhausted? Lunacy.

It would make some sort of sense if they took the raft a bit offshore and tried fishing from it.

Howevs I do love The Island. Highlight of my week.

BusterTheBulldog · 20/04/2018 16:15

I know king why would that one have more than their own one?! I wonder if someone ‘feeds’ them these ideas?! Same with Mercedes, fair enough she was a swimming instructor but why would you ever think it would be a good idea to attempt that swim when she hadn’t got energy to untangle a fishing net earlier!

I love it too, it reminds me of ‘shipwrecked’ but with grown ups.

CrumpledDuvet · 01/05/2018 12:51

I’ve enjoyed the series but wish it wasn’t all about divides etc.

I can’t work out why Lorna wasn’t featured at all. I only heard her name for the first time in the last episode. Any thoughts?

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 01/05/2018 13:01

To be honest I can't really see much difference between the two programmes.

BusterTheBulldog · 01/05/2018 13:11

Ooh I had forgot I’d got this to catch up on- thanks!

JaneJeffer · 01/05/2018 23:02

Just watching the update. Phil and Laura are a couple now!

BusterTheBulldog · 01/05/2018 23:38

Ooh!! Where is the update jane??

I hate that I warmed to them all in the last ep, and now I’m over invested.

JaneJeffer · 02/05/2018 00:08

IT was on c4 Buster

fruitpastille · 02/05/2018 07:31

I've really enjoyed watching it but feel quite cynical. The pig that conveniently 'appears' when they are at their lowest ebb. The fact that the little island had more food - I think it was definitely suggested to them to try it. And did anyone notice that they had dry clothes (and a camera to film) after they swam there?!

I kind of liked Barnes in the end - he was quite funny. DH thinks it is Bear who is the biggest twat Grin

SharronNeedles · 02/05/2018 22:08

Laura and Phil are still together :) they are so loved up on Facebook

creamcheeseandlox · 08/05/2018 08:27

What's their names to find them on Facebook?

RainbowFairiesHaveNoPlot · 10/05/2018 10:38

I recorded this and have been binge watching through it yesterday - but by now you can kind of time what's going to happen when... the birds appearing (usually a random turkey but it was the guinea fowl this series)... them doing something completely stupidly life threatening... then there's always the compulsory pig or crocodile kill toward the end of it all. Mix in Bear stating the completely bleeding obvious ("if you're fighting for survival you need food and water or you're in trouble" and the like... then buggering off back to his hotel before Bear's next Handy Desert Island Hint to camera) and you've got every single series going.
